The goal was to create a space that followed a certain set of constrants and also our own rules created through a series of initial itterations. The Folly we created had 2 thresholds that led into 3 seperate spaces. The first threshold is the wooden supports that run all the way around horizontally. The second threshold is the pieces of cloth that run vertical and diagonal across the top and bottom. These lead into the middle space that is seemingly completly enclosed due to the wooded supports running along the vertical edge.

The image to the right is from outside of the building looking at the insertion from a equal level as the top floor seen here.

The task was to create a parasitic Insertion onto an existing building. My idea was to create a space that intruded into the existing space, while creating more space that expands from the existing. My space expandes from above the ceiling down into the lower floor, creating a threshold into a space that is much larger than the existing.

The image to the left is from the interior of the building on the top floor looking out towards the insertion.

03 The drawing to the left was part of a charity auction for Macy’s to raise money. The picture is of local apartments in downtown Cincinnati.

The below image as an assignment was to create a new Piranesi prison using existing drawings and drawing style.

These Drawings are from different assigments from my first two semesters at school. The locations vary but all within the greater Cincinnati area. The images on the right were done in pencil, and the drawings on this page done in Micron pen.

The above drawing is the entry way into a back hallway.

The above drawing is a view of the celing and skylight in the cafe of my campus buildings.

The drawing to the right is a gravestone in one of the local graveyards.

The project was to design a Film Institute from an existing site in Over-theRhine on the edge of downtown Cincinnati. My version of the institute was based off of the ancient trilogy. Before film existed there was theather and during festivals there would be a sequencial shows that would not have anything to do with each other but would share an author. Using that as precident I designed a series of three buildings, each with a different materiality. On the main theater space I used steel frame wrapped in an aluminum facade, this created a shining box that draws the eye. For the main teaching and working space in the back I used pre-fabricated concrete which is much more dull than the theater space and is meant to stay in the background. The third building is brick construction that is existing on the site and was renovated to be structurally sound. It holds the main lobby space, and a seperate studio apartment above.

The site model is covered in brick dust to emphasize the history of the area. Most of the surrounding area was brick construction or renovated from brick construction.

A closer street view of the model that gives greater vision to the height of the buildings relative to each other. Also gives a view under the main theater space and towards the ticket booth.

1st Floor Plan

Basement Plan

Houses two multipurpose spaces, the library and mechanical room. The bathrooms are much larger due to the increased foot traffic caused by the library and multipurpose spaces.

The Ground Plan

Level with the city, houses the main lobby space (bottom right) an office pool, and the ticketbooth.

Houses a confrence space and the directors office with an open glass walkway to the theater space. In the existing building is the main portion of the studio apartment.

2nd Floor Plan

Houses two classrooms with a glass walkway to the bathroom. The rest of the theater space is shown independently.

PODS OF LIVING

A longitudional section with lighting to show a simulation of morning light as it would enter the spaces on the ground level. This provides a warm light into the interior spaces while lighting the garden spaces adequetly.
