Camp Director, Camp Huronda Full-time 9-Month - January to September Part-Time (1- 10 hr/week) October to December Ontario Area Manager, Ontario Camps In-Season (Jun-Aug) - Camp Huronda, Huntsville, ON Off-Season (Sep-May) - Toronto, ON • Minimum 3+ years camp experience in senior staff positions, preferably Camp or Assistant Camp Director • Knowledge of type 1 diabetes or willing to undertake education as required • Preference given to those who currently are/have studied in a child development or related field • Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or willing to obtain • NLS, CUI certification an asset • F-Class License (or equivalent) or willing to obtain • Instructor certifications an asset • Small Water Drinking System certification or willing to obtain • High Five Certification from Parks and Recreation Ontario or willing to obtain • Must provide a copy of a cleared criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screening
Camp Huronda Owned and operated by the Canadian Diabetes Association, Camp Huronda lies on a beautifully wooded peninsula on Lake Waseosa near Huntsville. This superb 110-acre setting offers permanent camp facilities for children living with type 1 diabetes through carefully planned programs that provide children with a summer of adventure, fun, learning and health care. General Function Within the framework of the national and provincial camp strategy and policies of the Residential Camp Guidelines of the Canadian Diabetes Association the Camp Director, Camp Huronda embraces and supports Association procedures and is responsible for planning, implementing and operating a rich and healthy camping experience for campers and staff. Responsibilities 1. Understands and promotes the mission of the Canadian Diabetes Association through own active learning about the Association’s goals, objectives, services, programs and organization structure at all levels. 2. Lives on-site at Camp Huronda during the months of June, July and August. During the month of June support the Facility Manager to ensure all facilities are prepared for the staff/camper us and support the Registrar to ensure all camper registration is processed. During July and August participates fully as the Camp Director to create and maintain a camper-focused culture through engaging in all camp
