At a time when the country is making great demands of the construction and infrastructure sector in terms of technology, including in specific events like the World Cup and Olympic Games, Concrete Show has given evidence, once more, of its importance for the market. As a shop window for business, the fair allowed us to exhibit to a very well segmented audience. Roger Alm, President of Volvo Brazil

We brought a very complete line of equipment, from pneumatic tools, hydraulic breakers, compressors, lighting towers and generators as well as tools for concrete finishing. For us, taking part in Concrete Show was excellent, because we planned it with the outdoor area in mind to display all our equipment and we managed to do that very well. Concrete Show, since its first edition, in 2007, has served as a thermometer for the operations of MEP in Brazil. The event was essential in consolidating the goals of the company on the Brazilian mainland and without a doubt it has made our manufacturing operation viable, which we unveiled to the market at this edition. Concrete Show has become iconic in the sector and nowadays it is seen as a worldwide reference point. Ricardo Henrique, Executive Director of MEP

The participation of Gerdau in the biggest event in concrete technology in Latin America was an opportunity for the company to show that it is looking to see the demands of the markets early on, offering innovative solutions as well as attempting to the specific needs of each customer. The event represented a great business opportunity, principally at a time when the Brazilian civil construction market has warmed right up. Paulo Ricardo Tomazelli, Executive Commercial Director of Gerdau Long Steel Brazil

Concrete Show gets the market moving and boosts the generation of business to the tune of R$800m With the objective of sparking opportunities and generating business, the event boosts the sector and sales With an eye on rates of growth in the Latin American civil construction market, primarily in the next few years, Concrete Show South America was a spark for business and brought the main players in the sector together. It is estimated that business in the region of R$ 800 million was generated during the three days of the event. More than half of the visitors (54%) came with the machines and equipment

sectors as their main point of interest, followed by construction systems (23%) and products in concrete (12.94%). The high decision-making powers of the visitors, together with the optimism felt across the market brought in an increase in the spend of customers. The event this year boasted 500 exhibitors, 25% more than in 2010, and an area of 53,000m², an increase of 46% on the last edition.

We are present at all the fairs for construction equipment but this one is the most important. Out of the three years we have taken part, we have seen the expansion of the event and we prepared ourselves more because we saw the constant growth in the concrete market in Brazil, due to all the infrastructure works. Christiano Kunzler, Vice-President of BMC – Brasil Máquinas

Not only did Schwing bring large-scale concrete pumping equipment to the event, we also brought all of our other concrete solutions, from the factories where it is manufactured, the concrete trucks that transport it, pumps, recyclers and even ice makers. The new location made it possible for us to better demonstrate our heavy equipment, a fact that really excited us. The generation of business is always very positive during the event. Schwing Stetter always has been and always will be a partner of Concrete Show. Ricardo Lessa da Silva, Director President of Schwing Stetter

The fair is taking place at an important time for our country, with all the investment which is being announced and it is already being reflected in business. We confirmed a number of orders with new and existing customers. Roberto Shaefer, General Director of Putzmeister

The fair has been very positive for us, we had an even better result than last year. Because of the, we have even renewed for next year. We like the new venue quite a lot, it led to even more professionals visiting. The bigger the event, the greater the interest is from the public. I am a constant visitor to fairs, as much in Brazil as overseas, and year after year, Concrete Show goes from strength to strength, and I would say that last year’s fair was fantastic but this year it is now at international standard, it will be difficult to better this. Roberto Perez - Director of Supermix

I would like to congratulate UBM Sienna for the fair and for the changes to it. Concrete Show is a success. It is the meeting point for civil construction and concrete people in one single place Carlos Alberto Leão, Proprietor of Leão Engineering

Always mindful of continuous improvement in our processes, I come to the fair every year to see if there is anything different in the area of technology for Gafisa. And I always find it at Concrete Show.

ED V O R APP

Marcelo Lobo, Development Manager at Gafisa

I have been to fairs all over the world and I never miss a single edition of Concrete Show. From last year to this year the changes have been huge, it is here where we find all the equipment and technology that our company needs. Galid Osman, President of Polimix

OPINION Haroldo Mattos de Lemos, superintendent of the Brazilian Commission for Environmental Management “Civil construction in Brazil is very much at a key moment and I really was surprised to see the breadth of this exhibition. The machines and equipment that were exhibited at the event will help civil construction to be more efficient in what it produces.” Herman Oognik, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) of Nemetschek “The current economic times Brazil is experiencing were what brought us here. We work with construction software, a new technology here in this country, totally based on 3D graphics and it is being very well received.” Carlos Medeiros, engineer from Geodigitus “Being at Concrete Show brings a great opportunity to bring our developed product to a fair like this, to show it all off as a piece of work developed in a public-private partnership together with the University of Brasilia and to great effect.” Felipe Cavalieri, President of BMC “The expectations of BMC were not so great in the face of the current worldwide situation and this fair really surprised us, it has given us a fresh boost.” Renata Falzoni, journalist and cycling activist “It is very important that we manage to have influence on those who currently have and who in future will have influence on retaining a human scale in projects. It was very interesting to be able to take part in the seminar ‘Architecture in the development of cities’, because the audience was not only made up of technical people, there were council leaders, owners of building contractors, people from public initiatives and they could take part in this process of seeking a new vision for cities.” Salvador Valero, Director of the Valero Group – Spain “Brazil is experiencing very good times. While in Europe we’re experiencing a big market contraction, here it all seems to be full steam ahead, and we can see great possibilities coming in the Brazilian market.”

Aquiles Dal Molin Jr., board member and Director of Engenhosul Works Ltd “I have been here for all of the editions of Concrete Show and I can say that this one was the most surprising, due to its size and by the quality of the exhibitors, including the heavy presence of overseas exhibitors. In terms of location and space, the choice of the Imigrantes Exhibition Centre was ideal, principally for me, as I’m not from the city of São Paulo.” Carlos Alberto Gennari, President of the Strategic Council of ABCIC “The three days of the fair were very beneficial. The event grows in size, but principally in quality and ABCIC, which has been here since the start of the fair, would like to thank Concrete for being the main meeting point for the growth of civil construction.” Cristian Herrera, Head of Marketing and Communications of ICH – The Chilean Institute of Concrete and Cement “All the companies we brought from Chile to visit the fair were very impressed with the size of the event, we had no idea that it would be on such a grand scale. It was excellent and we certainly will return in 2012.” Maria Alice Moreira, Commercial Director of Mills “Concrete Show always surprises us. Here we meet a very well-selected audience and in large numbers, even from outside Brazil. We come away from here feeling like we have achieved our aims.” Marcio Bistene, Commercial Direcotor of Hilti For us the overall outcome of Concrete Show 2011 could not have been more positive. As well as seeing new technologies at the fair, Hilti took on an outdoor stand for demonstrations that brought us even closer to the visitors, bringing us some superb moments. The fair was the stage of the launch of our TE3000 machine and we already have a waiting list. Without a shadow of a doubt, we only have positive points to bring us back next year. Li Weigm, Chinese representative of Sany “The structure of the event is very large, and the best: specialized. I got to become quite familiar with the Brazilian concrete machines market through the event.”

Marco Menegotto, President of the 6 Commission of Pre-Fabricates for FIB (International Concrete Federation) “Brazil’s time has come? We in Europe are very much prisoner to traditional concepts. This can be good, but at times it can complicate things for us. Young countries, full of energy and which bring people together from all over the world, like Brazil, are ready for the challenges that the current market presents”, he said. “I believe I have gained much more knowledge from Concrete Show than I could have shared.” Alexis Joseph Steverlynck Fonteyne, Administrative Director of ANAPRE “Companies are being faced with premature wear on surfaces in their premises, due to countless factors and aware of this need, we chose this as our theme because we wanted to bring something truly useful to the event. We have presented practical solutions as this is what people want and they can find it here at Concrete Show. I have been very satisfied with everything, the auditorium was completely packed, which shows what a pressing issue this is right now.” Íria Lícia Oliva Doniak – Executive President of ABCIC “Our idea was to offer civil construction professionals a current view of solutions in engineering with the use of applied concrete pre-fabricates in the world and especially to debate quality, a fundamental requirement to attend to the challenges of civil construction in Brazil. And Concrete Congress was the ideal space to debate the issue.” Denise C.C. Dal Molin, Director of UFRGS “I have been coming to Concrete Show since the first editions, taking part in the conferences as much as the fair and this was the biggest edition and its sheer size really was a surprise.” James Toscas, President of PCI (Precast Concrete Institute) “In the United States, everyone is just concerned about the business side, we forget to see the other aspects like you do here. I can see in Brazil that there is great attention to detail.”
