REAL WEDDING HERE COMES THE BRIDE (AND GROOM)... We wanted a venue that was relaxed, beautiful and would accommodate the bridal party for three days. Wedding Concepts, together with Webersburg, was wonderful in helping us with all the pre-wedding events, including the rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar and a picnic. We wanted to have a great party that everyone would remember forever! If we’re being honest, there wasn’t much DIY happening. We live in Joburg, so we knew we’d need help from the professionals! Using the Wedding Concepts team just made the whole process so much easier. The decor was simple, elegant and fun. We tried to keep a relaxed wine farm feel but not be cheesy. We took all the things we loved and put them together.
THE BIG DAY Our vision was for it to be more than just a single day, so we had a few intimate events leading up to the wedding. The best part of the whole thing was just having all the important people in our lives with us for three whole days of holiday! The day itself was amazing. We knew we wanted it to be all about friendship, love and happiness, and we got that and a whole lot more – it was fun and beautiful and we had such a great time. A special moment was when we snuck off during the starters to practise our first dance, and taking a moment with each other before we walked into the reception – to just drink it all in, be alone for a minute and share our happiness.
THE FINER DETAILS The food was one of the most important aspects of the wedding. We wanted the starters and dessert to be informal with a picnic feel. For the cake, it was very difficult to choose a flavour, so we chose three! We had a beautiful cake with lace detail (which was mirrored in the decor). The bride and groom cake pops were so much fun and everyone loved them. We wanted desserts people could eat with their hands. Our first dance was to Jack Johnson’s ‘Better Together’. We chose it because we love the song, it wasn’t too formal and it wasn’t too hard to dance to. For Carryn, the wedding dress was a dream come true. I had always wanted to travel to London with my mom to buy the dress. I chose the first dress I tried on and we went back to buy it after trying on hundreds of other dresses.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT Our advice to couples planning a wedding would be to enjoy every second and not to worry so much about the small stuff. If you have the right support around, it will all work out perfectly on the day.
