WELCOME TO IN2IT

an annual dance festival located in Kristiansund, Møre and Romsdal.
In2it was established in 2016 and has since then developed into a vibrant and dynamic international dance festival. During the nine-day festival period, you will experience professional dance artists from the Czech Republic, South Africa and Norway through dance performances, courses and artistic talks.
Our vision is to create meeting places that challenge, surprise and pave the way for new artistic expressions. By showing varied dance of high quality and with different ethnic origins, we will contribute
to building cultural bridges through dance as an art form.
This year’s festival themeeverybody, every bodyexplores and recognizes human differences. With a focus on diversity, inclusion and visibility, the theme explores differences as a value for art and society. Every body makes everybody’s story special!
Regards Tendai Makurumbandi and the rest of the In2it International Dance Festival team.

MY SONG | MAKUDAMAKURUMBANDI DANCE | NORWAY
Date: 29. September
Time: 19.00 – 20.00
Place: Festiviteten
TICKETS
Choreographer Tendai Makurumbandi goes to the physical, spiritual and cultural archives of the African people to examine how colonization and modernization affect identity.
The Himba are one of the few tribes in Africa that calculate the date of birth of a child not from the day the child is born or conceived, but from the day the child is thought of in the spirit of the mother. In My Song, the choreographer used his own history and identity, and the Himba tradition of birth songs to explore how colonialism limits its potential to shape its own destiny by disregarding the living cultural archives of colonized people.
As a Zimbabwean in Norway, Makurumbandi is critical of the racial hierarchy that places minorities in one group. On the one hand, the group gives the marginalized and their descendants a respite and community; on the other, the community can function as a weapon against one’s own physicality and simply erase one’s sense of identity and personality.
My Song goes a long way in its attempt to challenge the political and social structures that at all times define the way we live, with ourselves, and each other.

JO STRØMGREN KOMPANI | NORWAY
Date: 30. September
Time: 19.00 – 20.10
Place: Festiviteten
TICKETS
Take the opportunity to see three different dance pieces in one and the same performance!
Each piece treats a theme of its own, intending to portray different facets of contemporary living.
Award winning “Kvart” takes place on a square woollen blanket and explores a type of dance that is not so often shown on stage – dancers who dance for each other.

To crackling French music from the 1930’s the audience gets invited into a game with “The Ring” – perhaps the oldest symbol in the world.
“Gone” is a little wonder about the relationship between sadness and nostalgia, about where something ends and something else begins, and about the aggression and denials that one must go through along the way.
The performance is created by Jo Strømgren who has excelled at home and abroad
as a choreographer, director, scenographer, and playwright. He is known for mixing dance and theater, often combined with a lot of humor.
His performances have toured in over 60 countries and for the first time one of these is shown in Kristiansund.

An exciting insight into the work of the next generation of choreographers and dancers.
Young people aged 14-19 from all over Møre og Romsdal, have for the second year in a row been given the opportunity to showcase their own material during the dance festival. With this, we want to create an arena where young dancers can explore creativity and expression, be inspired, and get the chance to know each other across municipal boundaries.
The choreographies are based on this year’s festival themeEvery body, Everybody - and this has resulted in a very versatile performance composed of a number of different and innovative choreographies.

THE LIONS DEN UNLIMITED |
POCKET ART COLLECTIVE | (CZECH)
Date: 04. october
Time: 16.30 – 17.00
Place: Rådhusplassen, Kristiansund
FREE
An exciting creative collaboration between local amateur and professional dancers from Prague.
The performance was originally performed as a duet, but is now being developed further in a group, where dancers from the local community get the opportunity to take on performing roles.
Through the choreographic principles from the original performance, they will explore the themes of media manipulation and political populism. The idea is to create a space where it is ultimately possible to blur the boundaries between a professional and an amateur. A place where dance and movement become a time of community, inspiration, sharing and discussion.
The performance is taken out from the traditional stage space and will be performed in a public space to engage new audiences.

TABANKA DANCE | NORWAY
Date: 04. October
Time: 19.00 – 20.00
Place: Festiviteten
TICKETS
A fierce, rhythmic, and powerful experience from the first dance company in Norway that specialized in dance originating from African and Caribbean dance traditions. The performance is based on the origins of jazz, which in its time was called the devil’s music and dance, and not least for “black noise”.
Traditional rhythms and melodies from jazz’s African roots are explored in a symbiotic interplay between dance and music.
All music is originally written for the performance and is inspired by jazz, soul, spirituals as well as African polyrhythmic traditions. The dancers and musicians play in the soul of jazz and uncover gripping stories of survival and dignity in the face of inhumane situations such as slavery, segregation, apartheid, and modern racism.
Welcome to an Afro-Caribbean dance experience for the entire sensory apparatus!

A strong performance with a topical and important theme. Nature is dead and there is no going back. Do you remember how it felt when we still could breathe clean air? When we could bury our feet in the grass? When fresh raindrops still came falling from the sky and hit us in the face?
Three performers lead the audience through a ritual of remembrance, at a time when the natural world is exhausted by humanity and no longer exists.
Set in an artificial imitation of the universe, they reflect on the ever-increasing replacement of nature with the built environment. They encourage us to look inside, awaken long forgotten memories and draws attention to the uniqueness of physical and emotional experiences connected with nature.
Through an expressive and far-sighted vision, the performance is intended as a reflective social critique and a guide to how we can shape a new world.

VICE VERSA | SØLVI EDVARDSEN | NORWAY
Date: 06. October

Time: 19.00 – 20.15
Place: Festiviteten
TICKETS
An exciting duet created by one of Norway’s leading choreographers in modern dance!
Two people enter the same room, clearly not of their own will. Inflicted isolation in two-someness gives different responses to equal challenge.
In a finely tuned chamber play that span between physical dance theatre and pure movement, the focus is on human survivability through both drama and comedy. Communication is a complex topic, and strong becomes weak and Vice Versa.

Time: 19.00 – 19.40
Place: Festiviteten

Enjoy a unique cultural experience with dancers from Gauteng, South Africa, exploring the theme of time. Time is a vital part of our daily lives. It is our reality. Reality is defined by time, and we cannot exist without it. Time tells us when day becomes night and night turns into day. It indicates the urgency in which we need to fulfill tasks, goals, projects.
We are ruled by time during our whole existence. Time is eternal, as are our souls. Time is infinite, as are our thoughts, and yet time goes by without us acknowledging its importance in our lives. Time is always the deciding factor, whether we like it or not.
The performance explores the past, present, and future and how time affects and impacts human’s lives. It’s a dance piece that is continually evolving over time bringing in new components as it grows.
