Activities To help keep everyone awake until midnight (no one wants to miss the first minutes of the New Year!), you’ll want to plan lots of activities for the kids to choose from. Some ideas include: •

a family-friendly version of Truth or Dare

charades all with a popular new year’s resolution twist like exercising more, traveling more, saving money, etc.

watching a slideshow filled with pictures from 2015

writing your new year’s eve resolutions

dance party or music-themed games like Name That Tune or a lip-sync battle

an art project like drawing your best memory of 2015

spa treatments like DIY manicure, pedicure, and facials

hosting a silly awards show with awards for things like Funniest Moment Of The Year, Best Dressed, etc.

glow in the dark games like a glowing scavenger hunt game or a homemade glow bowling game

watching movies

A creative way to set out your games is by making countdown bags. Basically you’ll have 7 bags all labeled with the time from 6 p.m. to midnight (one per hour). Fill each bag with an activity for that hour. For example, one bag could have a familyfriendly version of Truth or Dare in it; the next bag could have the awards for your silly awards show; the next could have the clues for your glowing scavenger hunt game, etc. The guests could open one bag per hour for a mystery activity. The bag for midnight could be filled with midnight kisses (Hershey’s chocolate kisses), noise makers, party hats, etc. A fun party favour idea would be to give each guest a journal for 2016 so they can capture their year’s most memorable moments. I hope your 2016 is filled with lots of love and laughter!
