Springville Directory & Visitor Guide 2009 - 2010

What’s there to do in Springville? Some will say the answer to that question is simple…nothing. But many retirees who move to the community find that they’re busier than ever before. Community life is built around the activities of community organizations that stage a number of activities throughout the year. And while it isn’t true that there’s nothing to do in Springville…as you will see in our listing of suggested activities…for many “nothing to do” works just fine. A few years ago someone coined the phrase, “Come on Up and Slow Down,” and if that’s what you’re looking for, Springville is the perfect place. Springville is a great place to visit for a day or an afternoon, but you may want to stay longer, and lodging is available. No, you won’t find the chain-branded hotels and motels, but a variety of lodging is offered, as you will see in this guide.

Springville Visitor Guide THINGS TO DO & POINTS OF INTEREST The Springville ZIP Code, 93265, covers a wide territory stretching from River Island Golf Course at an elevation of about 700 feet all the way to Ponderosa, 25 miles away at 7,200 feet. That’s some territory! In it, you will find a variety of great places to explore, hang out, and return again and again. ENJOY THE VILLAGE with a walk down “Main Street” also known as Highway 190, which is busy at times but more often than not as quiet as a country lane. Walk down Bridge Street to view the Tule River. Pick up the Guide to Historic Markers & Walking Tour booklet at the Tule River Historical Society Museum and introduce yourself to historic “old” Springville.

SPRINGVILLE MEMORIAL PARK is in the center of the village, right next to the Fire Station, and has been recently renovated. Free concerts are held every other Friday night throughout the summer. Picnic and barbecue areas are available as well as clean, modern restrooms. The entire park, which includes a wonderful children’s play area, is handicapped accessible. EXPLORE HISTORY at the Tule River Historical Society’s museum on the Springville Rodeo Grounds. Open Tuesday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment. A walking tour guide is now available. Call (559) 539-2720 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Springville’s park is a perfect setting for concerts and other events.
