Today’s Meeting... Today is the first in our new series ‘Better Together’. Aled Griffith will be speaking on the theme ‘Power of One’. Gaynor Shaw will be leading the meeting.

COMMUNION Today we will be breaking bread together. If you would like to know more about our church, please visit the Connect Area in the reception at the end of the meeting. We would love to meet you. Our Prayer Ministry Team will be available after the meeting if you would like prayer today. The team is identifiable by a Ministry Team badge. They will be at the front of the hall. Please note you are welcome to join us for prayer in the Carsington Room 45 minutes before each Sunday meeting.

CONNECT COURSE Want to find out more about how to meet more people and find community? Whether you’re new to the church or need a refresher the Connect Course will help you to get plugged in and discover more about CCD’s vision and values. Starting Tuesday 17 Jan, it’s a 4 week course to help you find your place of belonging and discover more about the city and church you’re part of!

Get Involved... AWAKENING - FRIDAY 20TH JANUARY We will be continuing our Friday awakening nights in 2017! With the first of the year being this Friday, 20th January. Awakening nights provide a space for prayer and worship along with equipping talks about sharing Jesus with others. As always the youth, students and young adults will be in the main hall and adults over in Bridgehouse.

MARRIAGE SESSIONS This Marital Course is an ideal opportunity to give your marriage an MOT. Whether you think your marriage is healthy, iffy or struggling – committing to improve it can only be a good thing. The sessions will be presented via DVD produced by Care for the Family. Some of the practical details are as follows:-

Venue: Riverside Centre, Carsington Suite. Dates: 20th, 27th Feb and 6th, 20th March (4 sessions) Time: 7pm-9:30pm Cost: ÂŁ50 per couple, inclusive of a weekly 2 course meal and resources. CHOICES This Friday, 20th January, we welcome Giles Davies who will be sharing how he makes landscape pictures using various materials. We meet at the Riverside at 10.00 am. All are welcome.

FIRE EVACUATION INFORMATION As you go about the building we would like to encourage everyone to identify and be aware of their nearest fire exit. Thank you.

DATE NIGHT Would you be interested in a fun and fit way to spend quality time with your loved one? We are hosting a Salsa dance taster session for beginners with a view to a regular date night. Held on Monday 23rd January at The Brook Centre, St.Thomas Road, Normanton, Derby at 7-8:30pm. £10 per couple with a professional dance teacher. Please reply to if you intend to come so we know how many to expect.

DERBY CHRISTIAN WOMENS NETWORK Our next Derby Christian Women’s Network Prayer Day is on Saturday 25th February at Trinity Baptist Church from 10am – 2pm. It is open to Christian women from all nations, cultures, traditions and languages. Our purpose is to meet together in unity in Christ to worship and pray. As we do so we pray that the Holy Spirit will build even greater unity amongst the Body of Christ here in Derby.

SUNDAY SERVING TEAMS Join a serving team for 2017! – Please consider joining a Team and serve once a month! A big ‘thank you’ to all those who served on a team during 2016. We are all really grateful for everyone who helps make our Sunday meetings happen! As we approach the new season we have many opportunities for you to serve here on a Sunday at Community Church Derby. We have vacancies across the following areas : Welcome, Stewarding and Connect Teams, vacancies across the children’s work on a Sunday from Registration to serving in one of the groups, the famous Brew Crew, Parking and Sound and Lights Team. A great way to serve God, each other and make new friends!

BUSINESSES CHAPLAINCY The Derby City Centre Chaplaincy initiative is now in its fifth year. Just over a year ago the intiative was extended to cover Pride Park. In all there are around 15 active chaplains serving the Lord in retail, nursing homes, Courts, football ground, Derby college and a variety of other businesses. There is a great need for more Chaplains. Let me know if you feel the call to this ministry.

NIGHTSHELTER Nightshelter is in need of some items for over the winter period, if you can help with any of the following:Decaffeinated tea and coffee – this can be given directly to Andy Land. Rucksacks, new underwear, socks and stout shoes / trainers / boots - (nothing fancy or flimsy) Please take donations to 25 Charnwood St, Derby. DE1 2GU. Open during normal office hours.

CLOTHES FOR REFUGEE CHILDREN Please donate clothes for refugee children (Under 10) in Iraq! Bring bags of clothes on Sunday only to the riverside before the end of January, Thank you.
