Medical Corner Prostate Cancer: A Silent Killer ―"Using a macrobiotic diet emphasizing whole grains, vegetables, and legumes while avoiding dairy products and most meats, nine men with prostate cancer had an average survival of 228 months, compared to 72 months for a matched group of men using no special diet." (Journal of the American College of Nutrition 12 (1993): 209-226) Let him who is struggling against the power of appetite look to the Saviour in the wilderness of temptation. See Him in His agony upon the cross, as He exclaimed, 'I thirst.' He has endured all that it is possible for us to bear. His victory is ours. (Desire of Ages, p. 123) (From: Amanda Johnson)

Frenz 4 Life God made us as social beings so we all need to interact with people in some way or another. In the university setting, we have to maintain healthy relationships with those around us. Friends are extremely important in the life of a University Student and can either bring out the best in us and make our lives happy or they can be our worst nightmare. As students, it is important for us to choose the right friends, persons who will help to build us along the way. Even if they might not be able to help us in our course of study, they may encourage us when we feel down, make us smile when we feel crying and provide a shoulder to lean on when the stresses of life try to knock us down. We should not entertain 'parasites', persons who will only use and destroy us. We should avoid persons who will waste our time, lower our self esteem and lead us down the wrong path. We should surround ourselves with positive influences rather than negative. Most importantly we should make our God our best friend as when all others fail, He has our backs!

Professional Corner Professional Attire ―Swagger‖, ―swag tun up‖ and every other swagger associated jargon, is being heard a lot, especially for the past year and a half. There is a problem that has risen however; there has been an amalgamation of the casual and the professional attire. It is seen as accepted in the general society, but that shouldn’t be. Many will say that it’s just clothes, but what one wears and how it is worn is a hint to the possible rationale and logic in the mental arena, giving rise to the expression of what goes on in the mind. In other words, the way one dresses speaks volumes. In the professional world, one’s attire speaks before they can verbalize their thoughts. It is best to have a positive perception developed, than the opposite. So, you are an aspiring professional and you want the world to see and take you seriously, the following suggestions will help: 1. Reading seems to be an antiquated activity in this generation, but it is this activity that will make one knowledgeable of what is appropriate. Take the time to read sources that speak to etiquette surrounding attire. 2. Pay keen attention to the other professionals and see how they carry themselves

(From: Ruel Saunders)

Commentary on Matthew 12: 43-45 ―The garnished house represents the self-righteous soul. Satan is driven out by Christ. But he returned, in the hope of finding entrance. He finds the house empty, swept, and garnished. Only self-righteousness is abiding there. "Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.‖ {5BC 1093.8} When we receive the grace of CHRIST and HE drives out our bad habits and ways and makes us new, we are to always be filled with this grace. We are to constantly be approaching the throne of grace that we find grace in the time of need. If we are to ever lose sight of JESUS and take our minds off HIM, our souls become self-righteous; empty, swept and garnished. The old habits and ways then return in an even more terrible way. They bring with them other dispositions that are worse than they are. When this occurs, the last state we are in is worse than the first. JESUS is saying that we are to constantly be filled with HIM; Abiding in HIM and HE in us. We are to exchange the old bad habits with good ones. HE wants our minds to be in constant communion with HIM, that we ―might be filled with all the fullness of GOD‖.

By: Romaine Johnson THE ALPHABET PRAISE POEM Although things are not perfect Because of trial or pain Continue in thanksgiving Do not begin to blame Even when the times are hard Fierce winds are bound to blow God is forever able Hold on to what you know Imagine life without His love Joy would cease to be Keep thanking Him for all the things Love imparts to thee Move out of "Camp Complaining" No weapon that is known On earth can yield the power Praise can do alone Quit looking at the future Redeem the time at hand Start every day with worship To "thank" is a command Until we see Him coming Victorious in the sky We'll run the race with gratitude Xalting God most high Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but Zion waits in glory...where none is ever sad!

2011 Theme: UNASHAMED...Lift Him Up

As human beings we like to be recognized for our achievements. Often times we praise ―self ―forgetting that if it was not for the creator our achievements would not have been possible. This leads to the question who deserves our praise? Let’s reason, who created man? Indeed, the book of Genesis clearly states that God created man in his own image. Therefore, man has the right to lift up and magnify the name of Jesus. For this reason, man MUST worship

sent his ONLY begotten son Jesus to die for us what an amazing sacrifice! all gods"(Psalm 96:4).Who then deserves our praise? Is it the celebrities or is ry honor and praise. The Bible declares in Psalm 150:6 Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord praise ye the Lord. After all, praising God is one of the best ways to fight worry, fear, depression, and even physical pain. It gives us an opportunity to take our eyes off the darkness of the circumstances to see that God is much greater than our circumstances and can even change those circumstances.
