Whilst much is quoted and written electronically these days, we find that many cases presented do not fit the generic system descriptions. The Commercial Express website does give the opportunity to make referral, but in many cases these are re-referred on two or three occasions, as the underwriters come back to us asking that we re-enter information and then resubmit. This is all very well, but there is no substitution for being able to discuss a risk with the underwriter. One can always tell in a conversation whether the other person has fully understood the point being made, and if not the details can be clarified immediately. The underwriters can also convey to us any concerns they may have about the risk, in turn giving us a better understanding of your underwriting philosophy.

The end of last year saw the appointment of two highly experienced underwriters. Sharmina Rahman joins Commercial Express from Ecclesiastical where she spent 5¹/₂ years specialising in property owners and liability underwriting. Siobhan Penlington joins CX from Aviva where she worked as a bonus underwriter for 7 years, and has just over 10 years’ commercial insurance experience in total.

CX Club will be launched early this year which is a product offering cover for clients who run local clubs including dance, music, arts and drama. No member to member exclusion.
CX Unoccupied February will see a campaign being mailed out detailing the benefits of the CX Unoccupied and CX Short Term Unoccupied schemes, highlighting that a 5% discount has been applied to the CX Unoccupied facility, along with a lowering of the minimum premium to ÂŁ200.

Discount extended The 5% discount applied to CX Let Lloydsâ€™ towards the end of last year was due to end on December 31st, however this has now been extended indefinitely.
CX attacks Scotland! Commercial Express will now have a presence in Scotland and the extreme North of England. From 1st February, Business Development Manager Phil Lackie will be visiting agents in Scotland and the North in addition to his existing regions of the West Country, Wales and Northern Ireland. This means that over 80% of CX agents will now be covered by a BDM.
