Classe 3 The Secret song:
Class educational updates: Class 1: Class 1 is back on track, working hard to learn lots of new things for this term. We started revising numbers (up to 5) and colors in order to continue with our program. In the following week we will learn new colors, more numbers(up to 10). Furthermore we will look at the weather chart in the morning during our Circle Time and start learning animals names and sounds. Our new song for this week is indeed Old MacDonald! We are becoming such good friends day after day, that we are now able to play together without fighting or taking toys away from one another, resulting in having so much more fun. One more thing that we have learned during these past months (and it is now fully showing) is to patiently take turns and during class activity. We are so proud of it!
Class 2: Happy New Year!! We are all very excited to be back to school after the holidays!! We started learning all about Winter and the clothes we wear during this season which we have painted and cut. From this week onwards we will discover our body parts combined to those clothes and our face. We keep on playing and recognizing numbers every day! Besides we carry on trying to write our names and started to introduce the first letters of the alphabet through “Letterland”. Please remember to send the picture of the family for those who haven’t yet as it is very important for the children whenever they want to talk about their own families.
Class 3 Right after this blessed and fun filled holiday; we are all geared up to enjoy the ride on our learning rollercoaster. This term we will start with the easy song “If you are happy and you know clap your hands”, following on with more complex songs and poems such as the Magic Seed and the Secret Song This terms themes will be science, growth (animal and plant), spring and hibernation
In the Vocabulary Corner we are drawing pictures of an object and writing a corresponding new word everyday, thereby helping the children to use these words in their daily language and increasing the joy of speaking in English.
Who saw the petals drop from the rose I said the spider but nobody knows Who saw the sunset flash on a bird I said the fish but nobody heard Who saw the fog come over the sea I said the sea pigeon only me Who saw the first green light of the sun I said the night owl the only one Who saw the moss creep over the stone I said the grey fox all alone By Margaret Wise Brown
The magic seed There was an old woman who sowed a corn seed And from it their sprouted a tall yellow weed She planted the seed of the tall yellow flower And up sprang a blue one in less than an hour The seed of the blue one she sowed in a bed And up sprang a tall tree with blossoms of red And high in the tree top their sang a white bird And his song was the sweetest that ever was head The people they came from far and from near The song of the little white bird to hear. By James Reeves
Class 4, song 1 Miss Lucy Miss Lucy had a baby, His name was Tiny Tim. She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, He ate up all the soap. He tried to eat the bathtub, But it wouldn’t go down his throat. Miss Lucy called the doctor, Miss Lucy called the nurse, Miss Lucy called the lady With the alligator purse.
song 2 Miss Mary Mac Miss Mary Mac, Mac, Mac All dressed in black, black, black With silver buttons, buttons, buttons All down her back, back, back. She asked her mother, mother, mother For 50 cents, cents, cents To see the elephants, elephants, elephants Jump the fence, fence, fence They jumped so high, high, high They touched the sky, sky, sky And they didn’t come back, back, back Till the 4th of July, ly, ly.
We are also working to improve our writing skills by practicing joining letters and learning to read small words emphasizing the phonetic sound of each letter. This term marks the important start of simple science lessons in class which have been running at our school for the last two years (in classes 3 and 4). Last week the children experimented using wood, elastic and iron and made “elastic bouncing bugs” demonstrating the capacity of elastic compared to other materials.
Class 4 To help us ease ourselves back into the school routine, Class 4 started Term 2 with a fun week talking about winter and snow. We then dove head first into a huge unit on Earth’s landforms. We explored mountains, islands and volcanoes, what causes earthquakes, and the different sources of water on our planet. We spent a lot of time in the library using the computer to research these topics. And in an afternoon Science lesson we had an erupting volcano! We have been anxiously counting the numClass 4’s exploding volcano! ber of days we’ve been in school since our first day in September. I say anxiously because on the 100th day of school (which will land near the end of February) we are having a One Hundred Day party! In class we started a One Hundred Club and hopefully everyone will be in it by the time we get to Day 100. Whenever you have a chance, in the car on the way to and from school for example, help your child practice his/her counting. We have another group of students that will soon start coming home on Fridays with books to read. This is a very low stress activity, a chance for you to sit with your child and have him/her read to you and talk about the story using the pictures in the books. When they’ve finished reading it’s always a good idea to chat a bit about the book; for example, whether they liked the story, what was their favorite part or character, what was their favorite picture, ask them to retell the story without reading it. Antonio has a little brother! Welcome Gabriele!

March 29th - Thumbelina Drama/ Theatre Role-play occurs in all early years settings and forms an obvious route to the achievement of the early learning goal, ‘Use language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences’ (Communication, language and literacy). Why is role-play important? • Role-play allows children to engage in, explore and learn about the everyday roles that occur in their familiar experience; the roles carried out by their parents or carers and members of their community. • Role-play allows children to express their emotions, positive and negative, in appropriate ways. • Role-play allows children to explore their own self-image and identity. It helps to build self esteem.
