Beacon Elementary Fun Fair scheduled Saturday afternoon By GARY BUDZAK ThisWeek Community Newspapers

There are two reasons why Beacon Elementary School holds a “Fun Fair” each year. “Most importantly, it’s just about getting our community together and having fun,” said Beacon principal Jane Leach. “Fun is the first thing. It is a fundraiser secondly.” The Fun Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Beacon, 3600 Lacon Road. The fun will come in the form of carnival games, facepainting, bake sale, popcorn, hot dogs, a silent auction and a raffle for the students. Beacon students get the day off to have a fun day at their school. “I couldn’t tell you what we raise, but it’s a good time and a successful experience,” Leach said. “The fun that we’ll have on April 16 will support the educational growth of our children. When you can combine fun with supporting the instructional program, it’s wonderful.” For more information, call phone (614) 771-2256.

Believe it or not, that’s popular.” For at least a decade, the Fun Fair has helped Beacon to purchase items to help educate its students. This year, the goal is “an ELMO in every classroom.” The ELMO is not to be confused with the Sesame Street character, although they share the same name. The company’s products include a “digital visual presenter.” “An ELMO is a piece of technology that teachers can put children’s writing or their math work directly on this machinery and it
