Mystery Drones Fly Over Colorado Skies Colorado & FAA Search for Answers

S

ince Mid-December of 2019, there have been a multitude of drones wandering the skies of Northeastern Colorado. These purposeless drones have been flying solo and in groups sometimes staying stationary for 90 minutes. Many citizens are concerned about the eerie drones, and many conspiracy theories have cropped up.

Drones blinking in the night sky bring up Alien conspiracies and thoughts of organizations.

The sightings of the drones are numerous and without pattern. There are many different places the drones are sighted, different amounts of drones, and different actions. In Lincoln County, around 5,500 people have reported sighting these drones. The Morgan County Sherriff has also received many concerned phone calls and questions about the drones. The mystery remains without an answer.

For obvious privacy concerns and in response to complaints, government officials are working to investigate the matter. The Morgan County Sherriff is hosting a closed-door discussion tomorrow on January 6th, 2020. The Federal

University of Colorado Boulder.

Although many entities are addressing the public's concerns, there is no definite way to check who if flying the drones.

The FAA has proposed a new regulation to have all drone operators share their information during flight with the FAA to ensure public privacy and safety. The proposal might pose a privacy issue in itself and many technical difficulties that may take multiple years to fix.

Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating "seriously and... working closely... [with] local, state and federal officials, airports, and aviation stakeholders to ensure public safety." (FAANews) The investigation is in progress in both Colorado and Nebraska. The Colorado Office of Emergency Management is also looking into the matter. The Colorado OEM has announced that there have not been any discernable criminal incidents related to the night flying drones.

Local sheriffs have been asking companies about involvement without a response. As no answers have come up, they have also spoken to the military, who also denies involvement. The Denver Post has questioned many entities regarding the drones without luck. Some of those denying involvement include the Air Force, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Department of Defense, the Environmental Protection Agency, the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the

South Korean Film “Parasite” Invades Globally “Parasite” Continues to Sweep Awards

“P

arasite” is now the first Korean movie to be named Best Picture by the National Society of Film Critics! The popular film "Parasite" has been garnering international interest and winning many awards. The 2019 South Korean thriller and comedy film stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-Kyun, Cho Yeo-Jeong, Choi Woo-Shik, and Park So-dam. It follows the members of a poor household scheming to become the employees of a much wealthier family by posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals.

On January 4th, the American film critic organization convened in New York City to vote for its annual awards - one of the most prestigious film critic awards in the United States. Founded in 1966, the society consists of 60 prominent American film critics from cities nationwide, each given the chance to

vote for the awards using a weighted ballot system. “Parasite” emerged triumphant as the winner of both Best Picture and Best Screenplay awards.

Director Bong Joon-Ho and Han JinWon share screenwriting credits for the film.

"Parasite" continues to take awards since its release at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. It made history as the first Korean movie to win the Palme d’Or at this legendary film festival.

Recently, “Parasite” also became the first Korean film ever to be nominated for three Golden Globe Awards.

At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, on Jan. 5th, "Parasite" won the Foreign Language Film award. It was also nominated for Screenplay of a Motion Picture and Director of a Motion Picture.

"Parasite" is currently on the shortlist of nominees for International Feature Film in the 92nd Academy Awards.

34th Golden DiscAwards BTS Takes Both Grand Prizes

The 34th Golden Disc Awards started on January 4th and ended on January 5th at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The Golden Disc Awards is a South Korean music award ceremony first held in 1986.

The digital release awards were on the first day, and the album awards were on the second day. The winners of the grand prize for both days may not come as a surprise. BTS won both the digital song of the year and album of the year! The awards were festive and filled with spectacular acts from all artists. From the artists to the hosts, the awards featured many beautiful faces and talented individuals.

The first day awarded artists for their digital songs. BTS took first place with their hit song: "Boy with Luv." This day was hosted by singer/TV host, Sung Si-Kyung, and actress, Lee Da-Hee.

The second day highlighted physical copies of the albums sold. Again, BTS came in first with their album, "Map of the Soul: Persona."

The hosts for the second day were singer/actor, Lee Seung-Gi, and actress, Park So-Dam.
