Welsh Earns Master Professional Certification B

en Welsh, PGA Head Professional at Frost Creek Golf Club and the Vice-President of the Colorado PGA has become the thirteenth current member to earn the to earn the distinction of being a PGA Master Professional. The PGA Master Professional Program is the PGA of America's highest designation and is comprised of an extensive project based on the specific certification previously acquired. The process to become a Master Professional is an arduous one. The first step in getting started in the MPP 2.0 program is to complete and submit an application at which time you will be notified of its receipt and assigned a mentor. Candidates are required to complete and submit a Literature Review and written Project in phases per schedule, which the MPP Review & Evaluation Team as well as the Master Professional Mentor will have designed to advise the Candidate on the Project for Approval prior to Checkpoint. Once approved, the Candidate attends the Checkpoint to present the approved Project, respond to Project and Presentation questions, and complete a Skill Simulation. The final requirement is for the Candidate to participate in a debrief of Grading and Review of Presentation, Q&A, and Skill Simulation if required following the Checkpoint. Welsh has received a number of accolades for his work in the chapter and in the section. He is a two-time Colorado PGA West Chapter Golf Professional of the Year and has earned the Youth Player Development and Warren Smith Award in the Section.

Welsh was raised in Fort Collins, CO and grew up playing golf at City Park Nine. He worked in Denver for five years, first at West Woods Golf Course and then at the Inverness Golf Club. He moved to the Vail Valley in 2005 when he was hired as the Head Professional at EagleVail Golf Club. He served as Head Professional for 4 years and before moving on to the Director of Golf position. Welsh recently took over as the Head Professional at Frost Creek Golf Club.

he IVY Pro Am is an annual event put on by the Colorado PGA and hosted by Cheyenne Shadows Golf Course at Ft. Carson in conjunction with the Warrior Transition Battalion and active duty soliders at Ft. Carson. The event pairs one PGA Professional with three members of the armed forces, either active duty or veterans.
