hree members of the Colorado PGA were elected to serve three-year terms as members of the Colorado Board of Directors on Monday, April 6, during the Virtual Spring Business Meeting. Re-elected to a second term on the Board were Jim Miller, PGA, General Manager at Sonnenalp Club, and Mike O’Donnell, PGA, Director of Family & Morale, Welfare & Recreation at the United States Army Garrison Fort Carson, Colo. Joe Carlton, PGA, Head Professional at Legacy Ridge Golf Course, was elected to his first three-year term as a Director at Large and will be sworn in during the October 12 Fall Membership Meeting. “My thanks to each of our candidates who ran for the Board,” expressed Ben Welsh, PGA, President of the Colorado Section. “Electing our leadership is one of the most important things we do each spring, and it takes a special person to stand up and say I want to serve. I look forward to serving with each of these dedicated PGA Professionals.” Miller associated the acronym WAIT – Why am I talking? – with his first term on the Board. The first year is spent listening and taking it all in; you start to figure out how things work and where your talents might best fit in the second year; and then in the third year, you are plugged in and begin to feel like you can really contribute. Then, your term is up. His feelings of having more to contribute to the Section and its Membership drove his choice to run for re-election to the Board. “I’m so proud to serve this Section; and I’m especially proud to serve you, my fellow Colorado Section Golf Professions,” said Miler in his nomination video. “Our section is blessed to have a strong foundation that is built on passion and hard work. The efforts of the Section have allowed for it to be recognized as a national leader both in innovation and in the success of its membership. Although there are storms around us right now, our foundation is strong. We will not be moved. Thank you for your faith in my ability to serve you, the Members.” Asking for the Memberships consideration, O’Donnell shared his history of having worked in most capacities at private, public, military and resort golf facilities. He brings a well-balanced, well-rounded perspective to the Board that represents a good cross-section of the membership. His decision to run for a second term was based on the outstanding leadership team in place that is dedicated to improving the lives of our membership and leading by example with growth of the game initiatives.
