New members appointed to commission

During Parker’s Jan. 17 council meeting, previous Parker Cultural and Scienti c Commission board members were recognized for their service and a new board was appointed.

e Parker Cultural and Scienti c Commission serves as an advisory and support group to Parker’s Cultural Department. e commission provides input and direction on art, history and science programs in the community as well as participates in cultural events.

Appointed to serve a two-year term include Tabitha LaRose and Robert Sanchez.

“I have a passion and a vision for trying to encourage young people to follow the sciences - engineering and technology and nd out how does it interface with your life everyday,” said Sanchez.

Also, lling a vacancy is newlyappointed Bethany Wood for a oneyear term. When speaking to the town council, she said she is excited about all the arts and to “create a rich cultural environment that I’m proud to call home.”

Reappointed for another two-year term were Annie Day, Philip Kramer and Liza Hinz. Hinz was also appointed chair of the commission.

Returning member, Terri Tillis, will now serve as the new vice chair. e town council recognized Michael G. Edwards and former Chair Diane Roth for their contributions while serving on the commission.
