Learn The position of a digit in a number affects its value. 4-digit numbers are made up of thousands, hundreds, tens and units. The number 2485 contains 2 thousands (2000), 4 hundreds (400), 8 tens (80) and 5 units (5). To round to the nearest 100, look at the tens digit. If it is 5 or more, round up, if it is 4 or less, round down. Example
rounds down to 3100

In 3104, the 3 digit is worth 3 thousands. In 2375, the 3 digit is worth 3 hundreds.
