“Taste and see that the LORD is good.” (Psalm 34:8) A friend of mine asked me when I was in the Philippines what I was really hankering for. "Turon," I told her. Turon is a ripe cooking banana sliced in half long ways and a piece of sweet jack fruit inserted between the halves. Then the banana put back together is rolled into a thin egg roll wrapper, and deep fried. You bite into a freshly cooked turon and your teeth first break the thin, crunchy egg roll wrapper, then dig into the soft banana that releases its savory and delicious sweetness topped with the nice and wonderful taste and texture of the jack fruit. Taste and See (continued) You can read my description of turon and you may have some idea about what it is and even imagine what it is like. But you will never know what it tastes like until you bite into it and savor it. A person can know about God, read about Him, have all kinds of information about Him, but until he has tasted and savored the delight of knowing Him and walking with Him, he really does not know God. And the only way a believer can do this is to know God through His Word and walk in the light of what God is showing him. “Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.” (Psalm 119:1, 2) “Let me understand the teaching of your precepts, then I will meditate on your wonders.” (Psalm 119:27)

“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there find delight.” (Psalm 119:35) “My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.” (Psalm 119:81) “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:1, 2) The Apostle Paul, who could have boasted about his pedigree, his education, his position in society, and even his money, wrote, “I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him” (Philippians 3:8, 9a) “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” Try Him. You would love Him. Lakan
