Strengthening the disciples... It is hard to imagine living in a small island far away from family and Christian friends, in the midst of predominantly Muslim neighbors and culture. This is the kind of life many of the frontliners in southern Philippines live. When they come to the MSV (Mindanao Strategic Conference) once a year, and when they attend the coaching event in the fall, they are so hungry for fellowship and for the Word of God that they do not mind staying up late at night just to visit and talk about personal and spiritual things. Strengthening the disciples (Continued) Steve Fox, pastor of First Baptist Church of Mertzon and I are headed to the Philippines next week for the coaching event. FBC Mertzon has already partnered with the construction of the home for the CawaCawa kids in Zamboanga City and they also helped with the flooding in Cagayan de Oro earlier this year. They are considering partnering with one of the new church-planting teams that is going to be deployed early next year. I will be teaching during the coaching. Please pray for me as I continue to prepare. I will also be teaching in Manila in my old neighborhood. Please pray that I will always be faithful to just proclaiming God's Word. That people's hearts will be encouraged by His Word. Steve and I are also going to visit LRF (Life Resources Foundation), and

we will be able to spend some time with our friends at Cagayan Bible Church. They are the ones who reached out to their community right after the flood. Please continue to pray for Kim. She is going back to the doctor Tuesday to see how her foot is healing. Please pray that she will be okay before I leave. If you are willing to pray for Steve and me, and our wives, Kim and Carolyn, everyday while we are on this trip, please let me know and I will send you an itinerary. May our Lord continue to burden our hearts for the lost across the street and across the world. “I will show the holiness of my great name... Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes. (Ezekiel 36:23) Lakan
