CFM’s February NEWSLETTER

Dear reader, Collegefairmagazine (CFM) hope all is going well with you, your institutions, and your family members despite the on and off effects of COVID-19 especially students going back and forth between in-person versus online classes. As CFM seeks to reconnect, this brief newsletter is filled with ideas, trends, and challenges for learning created by COVID-19. CFM would like to applaud the reaction of individuals, higher education, and government for their no less than herculean efforts to manage and control the pandemic. CFM shifted its in-person college fair to online by partnering with StriveScan to host a virtual college fair with over 75 postsecondary institutions participating. As learning continues to shift back and forth between virtual and in-person depending on how the pandemic is managed learning trends are adjusting to the pace. Reading academic and corporate materials invokes challenges for higher education and business learning. It suggests that there is a recognition the way people learn is one of the biggest challenges, this requires structural change, improved collaboration, and the reduction of silos. According to Deloitte’s Human Capital Trends, “86% of organizations recognize changing the way people learn at work as one of their biggest challenges in 2019 and beyond.”

Therefore digital practices must be improved and training while continuing some basic programs to assess new and better learning directions to serve families, youth, and older adults. CFM will continue reaching out to local organizations, foundations, and community affiliates to make presentations, offer training, and share program events.
