My Outdoor Escape – Summertime Dreamin’ In my boredom the other night, I was grill shopping online because The Workaholic left our little charcoal grill in Savannah. I didn’t know how to work the thing anyway and he’s only home for dinner one night a week. Because I love the taste of grilled food, and because his birthday is coming up soon, I decided to see what kind of damage a gas grill would do to my wallet. I have no idea what I was looking for but while surfing Sears’ Grilling is Happiness site, I found the most amazing thing EVER. (Did y’all catch that? I’m getting him a gift I want) So here’s what I came up with, a lovely Polyvore board that creates my little southern dream escape. I also have a list.ly list over in the sidebar. Go visit it and give each item that you also like a little “thumbs up”. The more thumbs-up I have, the more likely The Workaholic is to make my dreams come true, and I know that you ALL want my dreams to come true.

Mom’s Backyard

d Oasis

Dreaming of My Backyard Oasis When I was asked to participate in a project with Collective Bias to create my dream backyard oasis, I figured that it was the perfect project to force me to sit down and put concrete ideas to the dreams I have for our backyard. The purpose of this project was to utilize the Sears Online Catalog, the Sears Local Ad Deals, the Sears Style Hub, and the Grilling is Happiness site as inspiration for my backyard oasis. Spending some time surfing on these sites and daydreaming about what I would put into my perfect backyard oasis has helped create a more complete picture of what I am looking for in my outdoor living space.

Mom’s Dream Backyard Oasis We tend to spend a lot of time in our backyard whenever the weather is nice. Although it may be a little warm during the day we are typically out there almost every evening. We have a nice sizedpatio deck just outside our back door but it sits empty. We used to have a great patio set with a tempered glass top that would fit all of us for backyard dining. Last spring a violent storm rolled in that flipped the table over and not only shattered the glass, but mangled the iron legs. The chairs were also destroyed and we have yet to be able to replace it. So, our large patio sits barren with only an old grill {the newer one was also destroyed in the storm} and a few toys strewn about. Oh how I would love to create a place just for me: Mom’s Dream Backyard Oasis.

Outdoor Entertaini

Evening ning Space

Cover Story by Kelly Rowe

My Dream Outdoor Entertaining Space Honestly, we have a lovely backyard, with a nice sized deck. My hubby and I enjoy taking advantage of this outdoor space as often as we can and weather permitting, of course. It seems to get the most use in the Summer as we love grilling out. We often talk about the changes we would {love} to make on our deck in regards to the size and style of furniture. We also dream of having a patio poured by the deck so we can have a fire pit. Yep, the key word being ‘dream.’ Dreaming, planning and creating a wish list allows us to start thinking about a budget and starting to save for that potential makeover. That’s what this post is all about. If money was of no concern, what would I do with this space? Let me show you, Sears style! After some further research, daydreaming and virtual envy {giggle}, I decided on these fabulous finds! Enjoy!

My Wish – Sears Perfect Outdoor Evening Entertaining I found my lounging furniture, firepit, grill and bistro seating, and even lanterns and bubbling fountains for ambiance! Here’s how I created my ideal outdoor entertaining space. When I think of outdoor entertaining I think of the magic of the nighttime. There is something to be said about friends and family enjoying great food and beverages in the comfort of a beautiful backyard setting. So I set out to create a scene where you could feel the warmth and magic of the evening with Polyvore.

Summer Dream

Olympics Party

Ellen Christian

Summer Olympic Dream Watch Party If I had the chance to host an outdoor summer Olympic dream watch party for family and friends, I would definitely make sure to re-do my outdoor living area which, right now, pretty much consists of a picnic table that has seen better days and a few mismatched odds and ends we haul out occasionally. I would definitely need new outdoor furniture and outdoor decor before I could have a bunch of people over for an outdoor party. Going through the process of daydreaming about my ideal summer Olympic dream watch party really helped me figure out what I do and do not want to do when we re-do our outdoor living area.  I loved checking out the different products on the Sears style hub and using their patio planner helped me realize what my style is. This way when I do decide to go ahead with our outdoor furniture purchase, I will know the types of things I like and where to find them.

Dream Patio for Olympic Watch Party I was asked to dream big and look on Sears.com to see what I would buy if I could buy ANYTHING to create a patio/backyard for an Olympic Watch Party. This is the first Olympics since we have lived in the house, and we’re huge fans. However, there’s just no way we could have a ton of people over and watch them even if my patio was tidy and fabulous. We have a dining set with 4 chairs, and we have a HUGE family. And we also have zero money right now, but I am always up for window shopping online. Browsing the Sears catalog for outdoor furniture and décor for our patio was fun. Their catalog has something for all tastes and the interactivity makes it easy to navigate through. The things that I immediately thought of for an Olympic viewing party were seating, dining, gazebo, outdoor screen and fire (in honor of the Olympic torch). I found it pretty easy to find most of what I was looking for by using their search function.

My End of Summer Dream Backyard Patio Having an awesome and stylish Backyard Patio isn’t a necessity to throwing an End of the Summer Bash, but it would be nice!  I’d love to have a nicer table, a grill {ours went kaput earlier this Summer}, a Fire Pit, and lots of lovely decor to make this space more enjoyable, comfy and casual for our guests. Even thought our budget doesn’t allow for a total Backyard Patio Renovation – it’s still fun to dream and “window shop,” right?! Our future grill purchase will most definitely come from Sears, so I figured I should check out what type of Backyard Patio items they had available as well. My first stop was the Sears Online Outdoor Catalog. I tend to need guidance when putting together a great-looking, stylish space so the catalog was perfect for me.

End of Summer Dream Bash I bought Hubby a grill for his birthday in July and he is in love with it. He grew up in Michigan so his experience with a grill is propane. This grill has propane and charcoal so he has been experimenting and learning a lot lately. This beautiful grill really needs some beautiful accessories surrounding it…don’t you think?! I visited Sears.com and browsed through the Sears Online Catalog,  Sears Local Ad Deals, Sears Style Hub, and the Grilling is Happiness  site for inspiration. Sears has created a Simply Outdoors online catalog for all outdoor living. There are 74 pages of beautiful outdoor sets and accessories and I was tempted to clip them all! I built this Polyvore board to compile some of my ideas for my End of Summer Dream Bash.

Dreaming my Perfect Backyard for an End of Summer Bash In a wonderful world, we’d plan THE BIGGEST End of Summer Bash for all our friends and family. We’d corral the farm animals into a smaller area of the yard, and transform it into only things that dreams are made of. WELL, it just so happens that there are websites to help out with those dreams. Sears.com Outdoor Style is a MOST wonderful site to help get the inspiration juices flowing. There’s even an area where you can take a quiz to see what style you REALLY are.  Can you guess what I am?? I’m Eclectic….and yep, I can see that!  In our dream party space, I dream of color, TONS of seating, a BIG DADDY grill, and stylish covering overhead with charming lights. What do you think?

My Dream Backyard We’re not really in a position to outfit our backyard in the real, true sense, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dream a little, right? I recently discovered Polyvore and pulled together a collection of things from the Sears Style Hub that I just REALLY love! While surfing my Sears Local Ad and the Sears websites, I realized we really have two distinct areas in our backyard – one that is covered and on the far end of the house, and one that is uncovered, but on the kitchen end of the house. Looking at all the options, Sears has made me start to wonder just what I really WOULD do if I could. Part of me would love to make a more “grown-up” section and a more “kid-friendly” section. Our backyard is certainly big enough to support that. Of course, since this is my dream post, I’m also dreaming up some 70-something weather in August in Oklahoma City. Even with a dream backyard, I’m not sure anyone wants to eat outside right now. It’s been 111 degrees lately. (Ugg!)

Dream Tailgate

Sara Merritt

Backyard Dream Tailgating Party One thing that people assume about me is that I throw killer tailgate parties, when in actuality I spend the hours leading up to a home game nervously chewing my nails and chugging diet coke. HOWEVER, that never stops me from daydreaming about hosting amazing parties! Let’s pretend that I have bags of money. Who wants to come to my backyard lobster tailgate fest? I did some serious daydream shopping and with Sears, I can accumulate points with their Shop Your Way rewards program. It’s a social way to shop where I can discuss options with online friends, make a wishlist for future purchases, plus track all those rewards points. And when I’m ready to use my points, I can save money on purchases, plus scoop up bonus buys along the way. So, come one, come all to my daydream tailgate party. Bring a dish to share.

Dream Backyard Tailgating Ideas It’s hard not to dream when the Sears Outdoor Catalog  displays the patio sets, grills, and more in such an inspiring way! It also has a lot of useful information, like the Grill Quick Reference Guide above. Compare cooking area, BTUs, number of burners and more, all in one place. I’m definitely printing that out for when we’re ready to get our grill. I also stumbled across the Sears Style Hub – and ended up losing about an hour to their design simulator. Seriously – it’s awesome. You can choose different “floor” textures like backyard, patio, and deck. Then you can choose from a limited amount of actual Sears merchandise and practice your layout. It really gave me a feel for what we could fit back there and how it would all look together. In addition to the design program,  you can take a quiz to find your outdoor style which will help guide you in selecting pieces to purchase.

My Dream Backyard The other day I spent nap time looking through the Sears Outdoor Catalog. You can check it out by clicking on the photo above. I really want to just transport the cover photo right to our deck. No matter how hard I tried to visualize it nothing ever appeared. Bummer! Oh well, I love doing online window shopping because I can squeeze it in when there is time. And I don’t have to worry about W throwing a fit while we’re shopping. It’s just perfect! Sears also offers the Sears Style Hub which is a different way to find inspiration. They offer a quiz to discover your outdoor style and I was surprised to see what the quiz had to say about me! I was able to find suggestions based on my outdoor style and even design a virtual backyard! It was a lot of fun and gave me some great ideas for my dream backyard! So I headed to Sears.com to start creating a Polyvore dream board! If you haven’t tried Polyvore, it’s a great way to create dream boards for design and fashion! Check out my plans for our deck and backyard!

Dream Back Yard Tailgate Party Do you dream of an outdoor kitchen?  Do you enjoying spending time with family and friends or throwing a Tailgating party? We love grilling so having an outdoor kitchen with a grill and a smoker would be the perfect backyard oasis for our family. It is almost football season and how much fun would it be to be able to relax and enjoy the games with family and friends in a backyard oasis compete with  beautiful outdoor furniture and a big screen TV. Many of you know my husband has been in college and is still in the process of taking classes, so new backyard furniture is something we will need to add to our list of must haves. Sears had a lot of fun options to play with. I created a fun Polyvore board for the perfect backyard oasis.
