The Pickup Chick – A Review
While my pickups, well we will dub them “pickups” for all intents and purposes, tend to be more or less like Hurricane Katrina meets U.S. Housing Market meets Chernobyl (I said more or less…), I figured an impromptu review would be in order for The Pickup Chick since the welcome to watch her videos and peruse her pages was so warm and inviting and in the end, I walked away with some pretty sound advice... to which I can show you later how to screw up if anyone is interested: "The Pickup Chick", aka Colleen Prietz, fronts as "your pivot" and gives tips and pointers for men on the first step of their pursuit of the ultimate quest: The pickup. Her stance seems to be that of someone who cares both for the man and the target of their attention and she stresses that while we all need to get laid from time to time – girls don't want to be treated like "a piece of meat" to accomplish that goal. That being said, she proceeds to explain the syntax of the female code to remove the similarity of the conversations with women to that of decoding an enigma machine rigged to TNT… With over a billion billion combinations, failure tends to be palpable at times *insert nervousness here*. But have no fear! “Your Pivot”, as she calls herself, relates to you where you need to interject with the jokes, the compliments, and, god forbid, the flirts; all while stressing the do’s and don’ts with the new found logic so as to not get ourselves into trouble. Whilst it is not uncommon for people to see the need to give you their divine opinion, Colleen sends a message that is not condemning to the male sex for their failures at wooing the damsels, but instead offers a very eclectic point of view that complements both sides as well and boosts confidence in spite of our disappointments, or catastrophes as it were, as men in the pursuit of the ultimate quest. Furthermore, when she isn’t being a subtle goofball in her videos, she lays down some very sound advice on a number of pertinent topics i.e. bathing, phone etiquette, and how to not totally blow a pickup at a farmers market. This keeps the teaching atmosphere fun and makes you feel as if you are almost having this conversation with her one on one. Warm and inviting, she hacks away at the social conventions that most of us grew up on like that of the 1996 film “Swingers” and when you should really call, and proposes methodical strategies to adopt like the one I have named “OSNFTTNLLAABIOBGTTS” – Operation Saturday Night Fever Try To Not Look Like An Ass But It’s Ok Because Girls Think That’s Sexy (ref: “angles of attack” in video: Dirty Dancing). As a side: It may be bad form for a reviewer to give a personal opinion on any given topic, unless otherwise complementary to the subject in which is being criticized, but at one point my attention turned to a particular detail and it was that the type of women in question that are looking to be picked up in the examples used therein, were not entirely like a lot of the women I tend to meet in public. I suspect that this person is her and it is from her experience and unbiased point of view where her lessons are derived. Speaking from experience and with a heart in the pursuit of love, The Pickup Chick is your pivot to a better understanding of the female camp in the modern world. If Ms. Prietz continues to feed the masses with her unique combination of humor and relevant and modern lessons to further strengthen the man’s resolve in his valiant pursuit of the ultimate quest, I don’t foresee her being anything short of a smashing success, both socially and professionally, and I await her book in the near future.
