ery few pieces of furniture inspire the timeless moments that draw a family together like the table where we share our meals, tell our stories and make lasting memories. For centuries families have gathered around the traditional “dining” or “farm” table to enjoy meals prepared by loving hands and to give thanks for the blessing of family. Here at The Colgin Companies, we’re dedicated to handcrafting a unique line of vintage tables that your family will enjoy and pass down from generation to generation. Throughout history, quality pieces of furniture worthy of becoming family heirlooms are recognized for the materials used to create them and the superior craftsmanship required to build them. These two elements are represented in each table we build. Dating back to biblical times the term “threshing floor” describes the area where workers would stand and labor to separate the wheat from The Colgin Companies, LLC

the chaff. This same process was practiced in the 1800’s in barns spread across the Canadian countryside. It is from these aging antique barns that we carefully dismantle this rare and unique wood called “threshing floor” which we use to make our furniture. The natural patina, rich character and distinct markings on each board cannot be reproduced. We then entrust the workmanship to the gifted and skillful hands of Mennonite furniture makers who pour their experience and strong work ethic into each and every piece. The finishing touch is realized in what our eyes can see and our hands can touch. We understand this and give our vintage furniture an “old world” hand-waxed finish reminiscent of antiques from years past. Inspired by the elegantly rustic old farm tables found in the charming cottages in the French countryside, each table we create is uniquely different as are the homes and families that will enjoy these treasures for years to come.
