JING YANG LAKE EXPANSION Location: Taiyuan, China PROPERTY: Teamwork PARTNER: Tongshen Shen, Mengyuan He, Yangting Shen ROLE: Modeling, Analysising, Collaguing, Measuring PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi, locates at north of Middle Jin basin. Taiyuan lies along Mount Erlong and is went through by Fen River north to south. It is a cultural city originated as far as four thousands seven hundred years ago.Located at east of Loess Plateau, north of Taiyuan Basin. Surrounded by mountains at north, west and east sides and flattened at middle and south corner with Fen River Valley Plain. The terrain lies higher at north and lower at south. The project of Jing Yang Lake expansion offers residences surrounding and vistors multi-experrences of Jing Yang lake about local historical culture and reserved nature system, by changing previous situation which was occupied by industrial factories polluting water resource of Taiyuan City. According to the existing condition arround, the site is divided to four parts. The north part is infulenced by the central bussiness district , and designated to be more programmatic. The water-view-part in east interacting with Fen rivier creates a continuous walking boardwalk. Lake expansion area in south regenerates several islands for natural system restoration. And west part working for culture is an vital role to activate the relatively narrow bay area. Feather more, added water circulation enrichs accessibility in site. And site in as an important green knot would be a continuous part of city green axis.

DIFFERENT LAKESHORE DISTRIBUTION

Naturalized lakeshores distributed alone the area which is more eco in north and south creates a better environment for native species. Elevated boardwalk would not interrupt eco-development which would increase wetland and natural purified area. Naturalized Lake Shoreline Distribution

The programmatic lakeshore where is close to residencial area and intensive activity area would be hard-paved by concrete and stones. More importantly, hard-paved are is an optimal area to create some overview boardwalks to experence water. Hard -paving Eliminates Elevation Difference

Hard-paved stairs could create multi-used space for human activities. According to the different of tide condition, the plaza would be used by human when tide ebbs; the plaza also could be a buffer to reduse nagetive aspect of flood tide. Stairs Eliminates Elevation Difference Creates Water-close Area

WATER STRATEGY RAIN GARDEN Major green space in site would be the rain garden which absorb water directly. Combining sewage system with natural infiltration system --- rain garden, storm water would be evitable and infiltrate or flow into lake. In terms of storm water collection flow, main steam would follow the flow merging into Jingyang Lake when the 1% storm happens.

WETLAND DECK

Different curves create compered space between the wood deck where water could infiltrate into the space between wood boardwalks, and solid hard-paved pathway, and different pavings, such as concrete, tiles, and wooden batten, were accommodated for different programs. This perspective shows the fitness park connecting with water-closed area in the east of the site.

HARD-PAVED TERRACES PLAZA

CORE HABITAT FOR BIRDS

The formation of wavebay is depending the waterwave, different pavings emphesis the dynamic element. There are some water strip in different size between the hard-paved terraces to create water experiences for passagers and vistors. Decks in different height for different programs ,such as overviewing, climbing, sitting.

Connecting wood-battened boardwalks with hard-paved terraces to create a continuous harbor and some inmitate space with water. Utilizing Retaining wall combining with green space in this part eliminates the hierarchy ingeniously which offers activity area and green space alternatively. Also slopes link with pathway on ground level and harbor or wood pathway in water level apporpriately.

PROJECT: REFINATION OF RIVERSHORE IN XINJIANG LOCATION: XinJiang, China PARTNER: Yangting Shen, Vare Zhang ROLE: Modeling, Photoshopping plan and perspectives, Col PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Toutun River is the key water transportation in Chang Ji City, XinJiang Province. Toutun rivershore used to be surrounded by industrial areas which will be removed for future green space. The design concept of Toutun rivershore is creating a connecting waterbody which would offer surrounding a multi-experience and program, including natrualized and urbanized area, such as restored wetland, wildlif- observation area, theater and industrial park. These programs are infulenced by existing condition and local culture. 1

Industrial ingredients would be left for site combining with landscape design as the surrounding used to be the land mark power plant in ChangJi city. In order to make Toutun river more prominent, water feature, such as wetland and pond, would be the clue to attract people close to Toutun river.

PROJECT: Mat City LOCATION: From Bathurst St to Spadina Ave , Toronto,CA ROLE: Analysising, Modeling, Photoshopping plan and perspectives PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Site is occupied by go trains which is a totally silent space for human activities. How to make it a vivid space, and how to activate it ? In my point of view, there are two ways which could combine to activate the site. One for multipying programs to attract visitors to come; Other for connecting the site with urben context, not only the green axis but also the functional corridor which means it could be an important role connecting with the landmark buildings, such as CN tower and Rogers Center.
