Urunga, Mylestom and Repton

GET OUT WHILE THE SUN IS YOUNG FOR A STROLL ALONG THE BOARDWALK

This is classic beach vacation territory – without the crowds. The name Urunga derives from ‘Urungoo’ – a local Gumbaynggirr word meaning ‘a long spit of sand’ (perfect for long summer days!) Just off the Pacific Highway, the relaxed villages of Urunga, Mylestom and Repton bring ocean and freshwater recreation within walking distance. This is where the rivers meet the sea - locals will happily let you in on the secrets of the best places to fish, surf, watch the sun set or dolphins and whales cruise by. Urunga opens out onto a tidal inlet complete with sandy shores and a magnificent kilometre-long wetlands boardwalk. Beyond is a staggering sweep of surf as Hungry Head beach reaches south (patrolled in holiday season).
