Not being a frequenter of Upmarket Hair Dressing Salons, I had no idea what to expect. So with an open mind I ventured inside Tweed City and entered Franck Provosts 23rdSalon in Australia. From the moment I walked inside I felt special, warmly greeted by the beautiful French Manager, Anne-Lisa my day just got a whole lot better. We had a great consultation, no pressure and decided to go for a look that was best for my busy lifestyle. Next I was wrapped in a special robe to protect my clothes.(not your normally around the neck wrap. Then I was asked if I wanted a coffee, well I thought at best a Moccona with a Monte-Carlo. Imagine my surprise to watch my latte being made by their top of the range espresso machine. I was served a tray containing my latte, nice cold glass of water and several lollies to keep me going. Once I received my warm towel around my neck, I thought I had gone to Heaven. This all happened while Anne-Lise mixed up my new colour. Anne-Lise is a Master Hair Stylist, trained in France and her cutting style is amazing. I was transfixed while her scissors glided through my hair with ease. I couldn’t wait to see the result. After my blow dry I was ready to go. I felt like a million dollars and looked it. The prices are also a pleasant surprise. I urge you all to experience the Franck Provost experience

Pick up the phone and call the lovely professional ladies at Franck Provost on (07) 5523 9788 you won’t be sorry. 2 >

You’re a good communicator. A great boss clearly communicates their expectations to their employees, as well as being receptive and showing genuine concern.

You praise your staff. A great boss believes that when employees feel appreciated, they will work harder, smarter and with greater loyalty.

You’re a team player. When others observe your business, they’ll see a boss who is willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in right alongside their employees.

You want success for your staff. You understand that if your staff have stopped learning and developing, they won’t stay with you for very long.

You’re compassionate. What makes a great boss is somebody who puts the human before the job, understanding that life can get in the way but having confidence that their staff will make up for it later.

You are transparent. There’s a correlation between worker happiness and workplace transparency. Bosses who offer transparency will earn the respect and devotion of their employees. You let employees be themselves. Your employees should feel comfortable bouncing ideas off you, sharing feedback, and admitting mistakes. This inspires creativity.

You can ditch your ego. A great boss will leave their ego at the door and be able to hire and surround themselves with people who may be more knowledgeable and more skilled than they are.

You are inspiring. What truly makes a boss isn’t an ability to delegate but to get your staff behind the vision. Your staff could be laying bricks – or they could be building a beautiful cathedral.

TRAVEL WITH ANNIE Do any of you travellers find dealing with foreign currency stressful? A five star luxury Scenic River Cruise will take the stress out of travel. I have just returned from a glorious 14 nights cruise from Basel to Amsterdam and only spent 3 Euros on the whole trip. With all meals drinks and sightseeing included, it was two weeks of bliss. My sister was busier than me, she utilised the gym and went out and about all day. Meanwhile, I read a book in the lounge or floated in the spa pool with a Kir Royale watching the delightful scenery of the Rhine Valley. My 3 Euros was spent on a quart of wine. (I thought I was only ordering a glass) during a rest break on our motorised cycling trip along the banks of the River.

If you would like to know more about European River Cruising please contact me at Tripaway Cruise & Travel, Our office is in Tweed Mall. Ph: 5599 2311 or email: Please contact your Tripaway agent Annie 55586100 for further details. Tripaway Cruise & Travel Coolangatta 07 55992311

mummy hat without the hormone explosion Tips to help you switch your brain from work to home 1. Having a sign or sticky note on your steering wheel saying “mummy hat now 2. Mentally resigning to the fact that thinking about work will only stress me and to switch off before getting the kids. 3. Have a walk or exercise before collecting the kids 4. Finishing work 1 hour before collecting the kids. 5. Prioritising family ahead (extending deadlines).

6. Try to prioritise the kids ahead of unpaid work. 7. Ensure your partner has enough attention and time and if their needs are met then you are half one on the way to getting yours met too. 8. Consider a demi pair or an au pair. These may help when the kids are little so as not to disturb their routines too much. 9. Look at other ways to support yourself in your home. Slow cookers, encourage older children to cook, and assign the children chore lists. 10. If you work at home, try not to look at your computer. Get into the healthy habit of turning your computer off at 8pm. For more information contact The Health Queen on 0405 669 135 or visit > POTTSVILLE TO TUGUN > July/August 2016

Rebecca Paulson hadn’t considered a career in Early Childhood prior to having her own children, however the decision to be a stay at home mum during their early years has drastically changed her career aspirations. Rebecca’s decision to become an Early Childhood Educator is definitely paying off as she has secured employment within the industry, and was recently awarded Student of the Year at North Coast TAFE Tweed Campuses awards for her studies for a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. “When I volunteered at Gumnut Preschool in Burringbar, I discovered a hidden desire to be part of not only my own children’s learning development, but also others. Our kids are our future, so to share their learning journey is a real honour,” says Rebecca. Being surrounded by dynamic professional educators in her workplace, Rebecca says she was inspired to gain the qualifications she needed to move forward within this Industry. “As a working mum, there never seems to be a good time to add more to your plate, so I um’ed and argh’ed about committing to further study, but after meeting the staff at TAFE, I felt confident to take the next step,” “The teachers at TAFE were amazing mentors, going above and beyond in supporting me through this challenging time,” says Rebecca.
