FLIP TIPS FOR 2014 When reflecting on the past remember the lessons learned. We continue to see destruction of our children and our communities, yet we sit back and complain. Of course, everyone feels there are limits to what we can do but what about those you are personally tied to. Have you given up or are you just preoccupied. I’ve found myself guilty, but every little bit counts. Read to your children, re-educate yourself on laws, and don’t be afraid to ask questions about why there aren’t resources available for you. The biggest thing is time. There isn’t a rewind button on time. Love you family and friends. Happy New Year !!

Flipping is a term used primarily in the United States to describe purchasing a revenue-generating asset and quickly reselling (or “flipping”) it for profit. 1. RESEARCH THE CATEGORY THE YOU ARE MOST INTERESTED IN WHEN TRYING TO TAKE ON A PROJECT TO FLIP. 2.DECIDE WHETHER YOU WANT TO MAKE A PROFIT OR IF THIS IS JUST TO OBTAIN SOMETHING YOU ALREADY WANTED. 3. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWLEDGE ON RESTORING THE ITEM YOU CHOOSE TO FLIP. IF YOU DO NOT YOU MAY END UP SPENDING MORE MONEY THAN YOU PROFIT. 4. TRY NOT TO MAKE AN IMPULSE BUY. 5. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR FREE HELP TIPS OR ADVERTISING. 6. BE CAREFUL OF WHO RECEIVE ADVICE FROM. IF THE PERSON HAS NEVER “FLIPPED” A HOUSE OR CAR, IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO EXPRESS THE PROS AND CONS.

MIND YOUR MOBILE 7. TAKE YOUR TIME. 8. RESTORE THE ITEM AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE A TRUE INVESTOR WILL REVEAL ALL FLAWS. 9. DON’T TAKE TO LONG TO ACCEPT AN OFFER. THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE A CAREER OF IT SO THE CONSUMER CAN GO ELSEWHERE. 10. INCLUDE IN ALL COST WHEN DETERMINING SALE PRICE. 11. BE CONFIDENT. 12. IF YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BECOME A “SALESPERSON” TEAMUP WITH SOMEONE WHO IS OR USE A THIRD PARTY. 13. TAKE RISKS. IF YOU SEE THE BIG PICTURE , 90% OF THE TIME YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. 14. ACCEPT LOSES. SOMETIMES THINGS DON’T GO AS PLANNED. DON’T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU.

MAKING YOUR MONEY MOBILE Online marketing is tough. So one could imagine how hard mobile marketing is. One key thing to remember is you must know your audience. If your audience isn’t mobile-savvy, it is a waste of time. Here’s a few things to take notes on. You could do it yourself, but try to seek advice or outsource to someone who specializes in mobile marketing. Think to include a phone number, social media links or buttons, mobile friendly pictures or videos, and geo-tagging. Good Luck!

Frank Ocean has confirmed on numerous blogs that his long awaited album will be released summer 2014. However, he has performed new songs at various show during 2013. We a re really not sure if this will be all spanking new material, but watch out! I’m sure if it’s anythiing like the hit “Superhuman”, off of Beyonce’s self-titled album, it will be great!

FRANK OCEAN

In a style all her own , we are very pleased with what Solange brings to the table. She hasn’t set a date yet on when the album will be released but continues to say that she doesn’t want to keep her fans waiting. She has recently launched her own lsbel called Saint Records and her project will be released under that. Can’t wait to see what she has planned next.

SOLANGE

CHRIS BROWN Chris Brown has been loved and and heted and loved again in 2013, but we will always stay true fans. His performing ability is awesome and still other artist have a tough time knocking him off his throne. He is said to release his sixth album, X, in 2014. Singles from this album that have been released are “Fine China”, “Don’t Thnk They Know”, “Love More”, and “Loyal”. We have found to also fall in love with him on the big screen. If there any delays on the album we hope there is another movie in the making.

TONI BRAXTON & BABYFACE

Toni Braxton has returned and she is bringing babyface. There are such a classic R&B team. The album Love, Marriage, & Divorce has been pushed back until 2014. These two haven’t worked together in twenty-one years. Hopefully, returning to music is exactly what these two needed. A video has been released for their first single titled “Hurt You”. Be sure to give us feedback on you dreams for this project.

2013 has been an eventful year for Kanye West with the arrival of North. Becoming a new father, he still has been able to sell out arenas across the globe. His fans are always on pins and needles about what he will do next. We think he continues to keep others on their toes as far as production and creativity goes. He has expressed that he wants to release his next album Summer of 2014.

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. What Is The Program About? This is a free program that matches children ages 7-13 years old who have a parent in prison (or on parole/probation) with a volunteer Big Brother or Big Sister mentor. These mentoring relationships expose children to new experiences and alternatives, empowering them to become responsible, confident and self-sufficient young adults.

What Is A Mentor? A mentor is an adult volunteer, 18 years or older, who wants to share activities with a youth 4-6 hours a month. They meet regularly with the child and offer friendship, support and guidance. Mentors are required to make a minimum of a one year commitment.

How Does A Child Get Matched With A Mentor? We interview the child and caretaker to find out interests and preferences of the youth. When a possible mentor is found for the child, we contact the mentor, the caregiver and the child with information about each other. If each person feels like it would be a good match, a meeting is arranged and the match is finalized.

Sign Up Today! The 1st step is to complete the form on the back. Upon receipt, we will call and schedule an interview for you and your child.

Look up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane… it’s DEMI NEUTRON!! You’ve heard her before.. Let me refresh your memory, every Saturday and Sunday from 10-2pm on WGCI Radio in Chicago, IL. She has been in the spotlight for a long time now and she’s not finished yet. When asked what drives her to be in the spotlight, she remembers singing solos in the church choir at the age of 5, modeling, acting in plays, and pageants. And in the mist of her accomplishments she states, “ Honestly, it is not the spotlight that I am driven to. Showing the world that anything is possible and to be living proof that you can have more than on dream and accomplish them all.”

mom always told me that I had to go to school and graduate, and I always wanted to be a TV broadcaster. So that is what I went to school for at Eastern Illinois University. While there I fell into Radio and just loved it, but I was involved in many campus events and would sing in the choir as well. You see radio and music have always gone hand and hand so I decided I wanted to transfer to Columbia College to pursue music. I needed a degree to major in and I had already majored in communications at EIU so it only made sense. So I never really have had to switch paths, I will always do both simultaneously until one takes off so huge that I can longer do it!!

The amazing woman, born Demi Lobo, has proved just that . While definitely breaking down barriers, her radio launch began during

Now being able to pursue her music career. What would be her genre? What type of music will she focus on? She answers effortlessly, “I’m a Pop Artist with rock inspiration and R&B melodies, if that makes sense. My music is very unique and I love rocking out on stage.” Her stage name is Demi Neutron. Google it! We know her performance is out of this world, but where did the name come from. While trying to find a perfect name for her EP, the theme of the project was telling “a super cool story”. Each song was connected to the song before. She explains that she created an entire planet called Planet Neutron and claimed the throne as leader of the neutrons. To add icing to the cake her fans began calling themselves NEUTRONS.

college where her major at Columba College was radio. She then later landed her own radio show on WGCI. One would think that with Demi already being a part of a large brand it would be difficult , almost impossible to create her own brand. However, the ones that are doubtful have not met Demi. She expresses that she is grateful to be able to represent such a large company for the last three years. Handling three businesses outside of being a Jock Broadcaster, she mentions there are definitely been some ups and downs. “The hardest part is simply making sure that everything gets done.” One of her businesses is TV interviewing series called Lobo Latest. Despite the success of both the radio show and TV interviews, her passion remains…. Singing. Seeing that you are doing very well on the radio and with “Lobo Latest”, one might wonder why would you want to switch lanes and pursue your singing career. Why is singing and performing better for you? That’s my favorite question, there are so many misconceptions about which came first. My

One of her other ventures is a make up line by the name of Lip Station. “I have always loved make up and making my face look dramatic. I initially started with a full line of cosmetics, but instead of just diving into the beauty industry, I decided to start off with lipstick and gradually move into a full line of cosmetics. I wanted something that was unique and I wanted just like my music. (I wanted) my makeup company to be an experience. “ She created a line called Lip Felony and anyone that purchased it would be “lip felons”. They are labeled with name like Undercover, Code Blue, Embezzlement, Mugshot, Toxic, etc. You can shop the line at www.thelipstation.com

“I love to grind though so I could never see myself just doing one thing forever.” Having been on the other side , how do you think you would like constantly being interviewed vs. interviewing others? Haha I think I am the best at being interviewed now because I know the struggle of interviewing someone and trying to pull to get a great answer. Lol But I LOVE interviewing and with a background in journalism I know how to form a story and make the interviewer comfortable enough to spill the beans in exclusives. So I also know when I’m getting in a sticky question and how to spin it and get out of it. But to answer your question, it would make me very happy!

Being an entreprenuer by heart she talk to us about how she manages dipping in fashion, communication, and music. Demi ponts out that it takes a lot of time and energy. “I grew up with entrepreneurship in my blood and I had my first business in grammar school. So if you were not born with a few entrepreneurial bones it will be a challenge. You have to have a dedicated team of people that can help you, but starting out you have to be ready to do it all yourself. I got kind of lucky that my mother is my primary business manager,...” ..”I would never say don’t do it but there are many sleepless nights, you have to be prepared for this.” How do you balance business with your personal life? At this stage in my career, there is no room for personal life, usually where I find personal, I like to throw in a little work just to keep my on track! Lol I do manage to squeeze a little fun and the good thing about the businesses that I have, and work that I do they never feel like work. Business and my my music comes first. I do manage to go to the movies quite a bit and that is some RnR for me. When can your fans expect to hear more music from you? Its funny that you say that, I have a new song I just finished, and I will give you a sneak peek, it’s is called “Dance (Make You)” it will release in January 2014. The genre is pop/techno/Electronic Dance (EDM). What is in store for you in 2014? What big projects should your fans watch for? I’m really grateful that I have this cover story to jump off my 2014, my new song is releasing, I have a lead role in a play with Zondra Hughes (Six Brown Chicks) titled “The Black Social Network”. I will also be launching my lipstick in LA in January as well. I am so excited about 2014!! If you could choose one word that sums you up , what would it be? I would go with “Non-stop” I am always going going going going, I have 3 more business ideas that I want to establish. I have so many more that I want to achieve. The opportunities in the world are endless, and I want to take advantage of them! Demi Lobo is a prime example that one should never give up on their dreams, big or small. Keep your eye on her and her projects. Go check her out and support. Remember she is on 107.5 WGCI on Saturdays and Sundays from 10-2pm.
