"Salt� The latest works of Codina, propose a game of shadows where to expand that invisible line, that border where the perception of art was cystic, permanently renewing our common concept of abstraction. It goes beyond, by submitting to the canvas, paper pulp or metal plates to an thorough study about the influence of time on memory. A zoom-back from the intersection to the whole surface, where the limit cycle is unstable, while there is a stable brushstroke around it or vice versa. What we felt natural, isn't it, and that saw insignificant or negligible, either. Codina does not leave us their mark to leave then. On the contrary, his "discourse" is interactive and is confused with the sideral landscape of the skin, where we discover the imperceptible and distinguish the different grooves of our origin, with its multiple bifurcations. "Ingravid" The viewer is not invited to focus on the discret elements which make up the image, whereas in the case of "Ingravid" the temptation is almost to invertorise them, to count the swipes and number the blobs of paint, and to work out, mark by mark, what is might all add up to. This painting is a hot reference point, a looking-glass that reflects the artist, asking it to make the experience as a whole, working on the eye less through an accumulation of detail than through modulations of tone and atmosphere. It is a picture in which Codina seems himself to be meditating on the nature of his own vision of thinks and the result is a riotous, exuberant work, a celebration of art and life and the alchemical transformations wrought one to one by other. ... Within this dynamic dychotomy, a close and often hard struggle between the sensory experience and the world of memories takes place. Or even, to be more precise, between memory regarded as an expressive means –in the sense coined by Marcel Proust- and the uncontrollable dispersion of the sensitive elements that define the process. Thus it looks like memory regains the status the classical rhetoric granted it. It becomes less touchy at the struggle between modalities akin –space/time- and similar sensory channels of perception –visual or denotative. The foundations, in short, of a linguistic code that delimits the representation of what we usually distinguish when we speak of images and words. Memory becomes the image that enlightens a text, as Francis Yates points out in his masterly “The Arts of Memory” (1966). Those places still unfathomed on the personal mind of the artist surface in the back light of his tight orography, which singles out the latest paintings of the Catalan painter with original signs and symbols. Just traces, warning signs of the passing of time in the face of space, attention calls for indifference and nonidentity. “Blank Time”: a double sensitive code of formal resistence and renewal that appeals to the mate - riality of the plastic elements as a reliable indication of the aesthetic abstract celebration. An unexplored territory of sensations and visual perceptions that don’t even pretend to become plastic signs and simply adumbrate “the track of time”: a whimsical loop, still unfinished, on the tense white surface of the canvass. The informal assembling of plastic materials transforms itself into a permanent aesthe - tic category, undoubtedly. ...
