GEN-01 MATH VILLAGE-1 SIRINCE 02.05 – 18.05 RENO-CONS 10 VOLS Have you ever heard of Mathematic Village? Probably not, because it is a 7 years old village. If you like nature, this is a tailor made project for you. Even if you hate mathematic you can still join in this camp, because the project is not related with math but is about helping to build a non-formal education center in nature. Mathematic Village is created by a university professor aiming to endear math to young people. Around 200 math lovers gather in this center during summer holidays, to learn, exercise and study math. International and native math professors are voluntarily sharing their knowledge with young students during the summer school. W: The center still needs some constructional work and landscaping and volunteers are needed for this task in order to prepare the complex for the coming season. A: In the complex of Math Village. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Food is provided by the staff of the Math Village. Volunteers help the staff for preparing, cooking the meals and setting up the tables. LA: English. LO: Sirince is a small village in the west of Turkey. Please be aware that the center is a bit isolated. No night life, TV or disco is available at the center but there is internet conncetion. The next village Sirince, which is only 15 minutes by foot, is very attractive and famous for its homemade wines and traditional architecture. GEN-02 LYCIAN WAY KEMER–ANTALYA 09.05–24.05 RENO 10 VOLS The Lycian Way is one of the most popular and the longest trekking route in Turkey. It consist of footpaths, mule-trails and stone paved paths going over the mountains or along the coasts. Its length in total is 500 km and it takes 4 weeks to walk it from the beginning to the end. Due to erosion, fallen trees and growth of bushes, parts of the trail are now narrow, partly cut off, bushy, and untidy. Due to new road building, we also need to change parts of the trail. W: For the first week, volunteers will reconstruct a broken path, pave parts with stones, construct steps, cut bushes and waymark the route. Volunteers will have to walk to the workplace, which is high above a beach and partly in forest. The working place is isolated and mostly without shade, but very beautiful, and a paradise for nature and hike lovers. 6 working hours per day excluding the lunch break will be spent at the site. Be prepared for hard work under a hot sun on steep hillsides. For the second week, volunteers will move inland and repair path, cut bushes and waymark sections of path around a village and down a canyon. The work is similar but the area has more forest and is higher in the mountains. More walking and exploring are invoked. Please be aware that the work is in beatiful nature but hard and challenging. You will be able to swim - either from the beach or in mountain streams - so you should bring swimming gear. Opportunity to visit historic sites. A: 1st week in supplied tents near a beach. Sleeping bag & mat are necessary. 2nd week in pensions in a village. All bedding and meals provided. F: For the first week, volunteers will prepare their own meals using the food supplied. GEN-03 THEATRE MADRASA SIRINCE – IZMIR 20.05 – 04.06 RENO-CONS 15 VOLS Theatre Madrasa is designed as an international centre for research, creation and performance to be built in Sirince, a village of Selcuk, Izmir. Madrasa aims to be an alternative venue to host those artists, who have an ambition to not only answer current questions on theatre and performing arts but also raise the new ones. Theatre Madrasa intends to be a centre of attraction and meeting point for Turkey and world theatre. W: The center still needs some constructional work and landscaping. GEN-04 WATER LILY-WOMEN ONLY DUZCE 26.05 – 10.06 RENO – KIDS 5 VOLS The Water Lily Women Cooperative is running a kindergarten for the kids of the working mothers of Duzce city. In order to raise fund they also do different activities related with their jobs. Producing hand made food like jam, tomato sauce, powder soup and selling them is a source of income for the cooperative. They need female volunteers to help them for preparing the year end party, to decorate the walls, play games and sing songs with the kids, welcome the guests, etc. The volunteers will also help the staff to run activities with the kids. If you can play a portable instrument, or teach some games to the kids, able to do handicrafts you are vey welcome. Also some gardening works will be a part of your work. LA: English. LO: Duzce is a big city in the north-west of Turkey. Camp site is in the suburb of the city. T: Istanbul. GEN-05 MIRACLE FISH ERCIS - VAN 29.05 – 10.06 FEST-ENVI-ART 10 VOLS Are you ready to see a miracle of Pearl Mullet which is an endemic fish species living only in Lake Van in the east part of Turkey. Although they live in the lake, the fishes are laying eggs in the rivers running towards the lake. Migration for egg laying is a spectacular scene. You will see thousands of fishes jumping into the air against the strong current of the river.

The local Nature Observers Association is putting a lot of effort to protect the fish and to prevent the illegal & out of season fishing. A festival is organized to raise awareness in the region by Ercis town governor, Ercis Municipality, 100. Yil University and Nature Observers Association. GENCTUR is collaborating with Nature Observers Association in order to realize the festival. W: Helping to the festival organisation committee to prepare and run the festival. To prepare and hang posters, to set up stands, stages & tables, create a drama and perform in public, distributing brochures, welcoming the visitors, etc. R: Volunteers must be able to ride a bike as the transport between the town center and the festival ground will be done by bikes only. The distance is 10 km. Bikes will be provided by the host. A: Under the supplied tents. If you prefer privacy you can bring your own tent. Sleeping bag & mat are necessary. F: Will be served at the site. LA: English. LO: Van is the far eastern city of Turkey by the Iranian border. Lake Van is the biggest lake of Turkey. The camp will start in Istanbul with an orientation meeting. Volunteers will travel all over Turkey from west to the east by coach (22 hours) on the second day of the camp. Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 15 Euro. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Van province. T: Istanbul. GEN-06 TEACH CAMP-1 ATABEY 30.05 – 14.06 TEACH 10 VOLS Anatolian High school of Atabey town hosts 175 teenage students. They are very excited to have a face to face contact with foreigners for the first time in their school. Volunteers expected to practice English through in and out of the class activities. Teach camps are a very good opportunity for volunteers who can speak good English and able to practice it with kids & teens through daily conversation, in & outdoor games and other activities. These camps give a self confidence and encouragement to the pupils as they practise English by close contacts with foreigners. GENCTUR is looking for at least 20 years old volunteers who have a good level of English to realize this aim. Horse riding, trekking through the hills of the near by mountain, visiting the Egirdir Lake will be the possibilities for the free days. Close contact with the local people will give a chance to the volunteers a high level cultural exchange. W: Practicing English with the teenage students of a high school. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. As the school season is still on, the volunteers will also assist the English teachers in the classrooms as well as organzing some in & outdoor activities for the teenagers. GEN-08 FAMILY CAMP LAPSEKI 07.06 – 21.06 MANU – RENO 15 VOLS This is a special camp for families (At least an adult over 25 years and a child up to 12 years old.) Lapseki is a small town by the Sea of Marmara. The locals will harvest cherry in mid June (if the weather conditions allow the cherries to grow and become ripe) and will celebrate the harvest by a local “Cherry Festival”. The municipality is running a public camping site in the summer where they will host our teenage camp in July. The site needs to be prepared for the summer. W: The volunteers will work at the camping site and around as well as in the town for the preparation of the festival to do some environmental arrangements. The tasks will vary daily and the works will be light to let the kids to contribute. But if the dates of the festival have to be postponed due to the weather conditions then the volunteers will not work for the festival. A: Basic, in camping rooms with 4 beds. GEN-09 TEACH CAMP-2 CAN - CANAKKALE 13.06 – 27.06 TEACH 5 VOLS Can is a town with 30.000 inhabitants and famous for its ceramic factory. GENCTUR is organizing teach camps to practice English with the pupils of different schools every year. This year our volunteers will help the 12-15 age group, to practice English by close contacts with foreigners. GENCTUR is looking for at least 20 years old volunteers who have a good level of English to realize this aim. W: Practicing English with the pupils. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. A: In a guesthouse. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the venue, some dinners may be offered by the families of the pupils. LA: English. R: Volunteers must be at least 20 years old with a good level of English. A motivation letter containing a Skype ID must be sent together with the application form.

GEN-10 TEACH CAMP-3 YESILYURT-TOKAT 13.06 – 29.06 TEACH 5 VOLS Primary school kids in 10-14 age group of Yesilyurt (Greenland) town are very excited to meet foreign volunteers and to have face to face conversation classes with them. Last year we had a very successful project in this small town and both the volunteers and the kids were very happy for being together. International volunteers will practice English with the kids through games, talks, conversations, dialogs, competitions and activities. W: Practicing English with kids. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. A: In a student dormitory. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. GEN-11 GARDEN WORKS CIVRIL-DENIZLI 16.06 – 30.06 RENO 15 VOLS Civril town used to host foreigners through youth exchanges in the recent years. This year the town will host its first international work camp. Volunteers will be hosted in the town center but will work both in the town and 2 other nearby villages. This camp offers a high level close contact with the locals. W: The main work will be re-arrangement and landscaping of the gardens of 3 different schools / kindergartens. One of the village school will also be painted totally. A: Volunteers will stay in a kindergarten. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the site. LA: English. LO: Civril is a town in the west of Turkey. Nearest city is Denizli. T: İstanbul. GEN-12 FUN WITH KIDS YENISAKRAN-IZMIR 25.06 – 11.07 SOCI/KIDS 4 VOLS GENCTUR runs a summer camp for a group of kids aged between 10-14 whose families are financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de) by the seaside. The fund raised by such camps is used to support disadvantaged kids to have a holiday in the same center in the same summer. The main theme of the camp is photography. The camp sessions last for a week. There will be two different kids group in each period. We are looking for communicative, talkative volunteers who are at least 20 years old with a good command of English. Because practicing English with songs, games and dialogues will be a part of your task. Experience on photography and abilities on any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.) chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games is preferable. You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids and teens from the beginning till the end of the camp; including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people and the people from other groups in Afacan Youth House. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases. Team work is very essential for this camp. Thus any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking & drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. Please be aware of the rules before applying. W: Counselling a group of children aged between 10-14 years old, leading several activities for them. GEN-13 YIBO-1 ATABEY – ISPARTA 01.07 - 16.07 RENO 15 VOLS The boarding secondary school of Atabey town need a lot of volunteers to improve the quality of the school buildings and the garden. This camp will help to the school management to prepare the facilities for the next season. Horse riding, trekking through the hills of the near by mountain, visiting the Egirdir Lake will be the possibilities for the free days. Close contact with the local people will give a chance to the volunteers a high level cultural exchange. W: Landscaping and rearrangement works in the garden, painting in and outdoor walls of the school building as well as the garden wall, renovation works. A: In the dormitory of the school. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the school. LA: English. LO: Atabey is a small town in the south-west of Turkey. Nearest city is Isparta. T: Istanbul. GEN-14 RAMADAN IN THE TOWN DURSUNBEY 04.07 – 20.07 RENO 20 VOLS This camp is a unique opportunity to get to know the traditional way of life of Turkish people in the rural areas. The camp will take place in traditional Dursunbey town with 17.000 inhabitants. As this camp will take place during the sacred Ramadan month of Arabic calendar, the volunteers will have a chance to observe how local people live in Ramadan. The volunteers will have the change to have dinners with local families who are keeping fasts during the Ramadan or join in public dinners called “iftar” which means end of daily fasting. W: Reorganizing the public picnic area of the town. Leveling the ground, paving stones on the roads, creating green areas, setting up tables and sitting groups, etc. A: In a guest house, sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Volunteers will prepare the breakfast by themselves with the given food. Lunch will be served as packs at the working area. Dinners will be offered either by families or eaten with crowds. LA: English. LO: Dursunbey is a medium size town in the west of Turkey. The nearest city is Balıkesir. R: Volunteers should be aware that thay will be in an religious environment thus must respect the rules of Ramadan like not eating, drinking or smoking in public during the day. Clothing is also a serious issue, no short trousers, mini skirts, will be allowed. This is really a nice project for the people who likes to learn about other cultures. T: Istanbul. GEN-15 TEACH TO TEENS LAPSEKI-CANAKKALE 05.07 – 19.07 TEACH 10 VOLS Native or non-native English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with mostly Turkish and partly international teenagers and some university students in a camp site in order to practice English by daily lessons, activities, games and some light manual work. Please have a look at GEN16 as well, to be aware of the “other participants”. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leaders. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter including the Skype ID should be send along with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. Smoking and alcohol consuming is not allowed during the camp. W:Organizing and running daily activities with local and international teenagers to practice English. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. Each adult volunteer will be responsible one teenage participant of GEN-16, during the travel. GEN-16 MEET YOUR PEERS LAPSEKI-CANAKKALE 05.07 – 19.07 TEEN 10 int.+50 Turks This camp is for teenagers who want to practice English in an international atmosphere. There will be around 50 local teenagers as well. The adult international volunteers, will organize different activities & games for the group of teens. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on 05.07.2014 Saturday between 08.00 – 17.00 hours, at the cost of 20 €. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 40 € to be paid on arrival. The teen participants will also be accompanied on their return to Istanbul on the


night of 19.07.2014Saturday. Thus the return flight tickets must be arranged for 20.07.2014 Sunday afternoon from Istanbul Ataturk Airport. W:Some days there will be light work as a daily activity. If you are a smoking or alcohol consuming teenager please DO NOT apply. Extra Fee: 50 Euro to cover the organizational expenses and the materials. GEN-17 TEACH CAMP-4 HOZAT-TUNCELI 08.07 – 24.07 TEACH 10 VOLS Hozat is a lively town in the east part of Anatolia. In the summer local migrants living abroad or in the other cities of Turkey are spending their summer holiday in the town. Thus the population doubles. GENÇTUR is going to organize 2 workcamps in the town this year. In the first camp international volunteers will practice English with the secondary school pupils through games, talks, conversations, dialogs, competitions and activities. W: Practicing English with kids. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. A: In a guest house, in 3-4 bedded rooms. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Will be supplied at the venue, some dinners may be offered by the families of the students. LA: English. R: Volunteers must have a good level of English. A motivation letter containing a Skype ID must be sent together with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. LO: Hozat is a small town in the east of Turkey. Nearest city is Tunceli. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting, that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp at GENCTUR Office. Volunteers will travel all over Turkey from west to the east by coach (16 hours) on the second day of the camp. Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 15 Euro. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Tunceli province. Note: No alcohol is permitted during the camp at the campsite and the accommodation venue. Smoking is not allowed while volunteers are with the pupils. GEN-18 NESIN FOUNDATION CATALCA– ISTANBUL 11.07 – 25.07 RENO 10 VOLS Nesin Foundation is a shelter for kids from poor families. They are taken care of by the foundation until they stand on their own feet. The buildings and the garden of the premises need to be renovated. They also have a farm with some cattles and a vegetable field. The volunteers will be doing manual work according to the daily needs. W: Renovation and gardening works. Some days there might be work on the field like hoeing the soil, picking vegetables, etc. or some work in the kitchen like preparing the food, washing the dishes. A: In the theatre hall of the premises. Volunteers will sleep on the floor and a mattress will be given per volunteer. You may need a sleeping bag or a bed sheet to sleep under although the weather will be warm. F: Will be supplied by the foundation. LA: English. LO: The foundation is in the outskirt of Catalca town where is 1 hour away from Istanbul. But please be aware that this camp will not offer you the city life of Istanbul. GEN-19 FUN WITH KIDS/TEENS YENISAKRAN 11.07– 27.07 SOCI/KIDS/TEENS 4 VOLS GENCTUR runs a summer camp for a group of Turkish kids aged between 10-14 and Turkish + foreign teenagers aged 14-17 whose families are financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de), by the seaside. fund raised by such camps is used to support disadvantaged kids to have a holiday in the same center in the same summer. We are looking for communicative, talkative volunteers who are at least 20 years old with a good command of English. Because practicing English with songs, games and dialogues will be a part of your task during the kid’s week. The main theme of the kid’s week is photography.The teen group which will arrive in the second week, will create a short film in the camp. Experience on photography and short film making and abilities on any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.) chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games is preferable. You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids and teens from the beginning till the end of the camp; including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please be aware that you will be dealing with the kids / teens through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids / teens in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with the locals is very very limited; however, you will have contact with the working staff and the people from other groups in Afacan Youth House. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids / teens go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases. Teamwork is very essential for this camp. Thus any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking & drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. GEN-21 HELP THEM TO SPEAK-1 IZMIR 14.07 - 24.07 TEACH 10 VOLS SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialize disabled people of the area through water sports. GEN-22 SHORT FILM-DRAMA IZMIR 19.07- 27.07 TEEN/ART 15 VOLS This is an international thematic camp for the age group 14-17. Teenagers from different countries will create a “group film” in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de). Majority of the group will be Turkish teens. The participants will use their creativity & express their ideas to write their scenario, act, shoot and direct their films in this camp. Besides, the daily program of the camp may consists of different activities like sports, arts & crafts, creative drama, music, etc. One day is reserved for an excursion with an extra cost of 15 €. Turkish & international volunteers will be leading or assisting the daily activities. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR hosts various voluntary and youth camps. The campsite is a secure place and participants will not be allowed to leave the camp site on their own. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on 19.07 Saturday, between 08.00 – 17.00 hours, at the cost of 20 €. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 50 € to be paid on arrival. GEN-23 YIBO-2 ATABEY – ISPARTA 01.08 - 16.08 RENO 15 VOLS The boarding secondary school of Atabey town need a lot of volunteers to improve the quality of the school buildings and the garden. This camp will help to the school management to prepare the facilities for the next season. Horse riding, trekking through the hills of the near by mountain, visiting the Egirdir Lake will be the possibilities for the free days. Close contact with the local people will give a chance to the volunteers a high level cultural exchange. This camp is a unique opportunity to learn how to make it. Are you interested in how is it made? Local Turkish people will teach the preparation of the home-made tasteful staff to anyone who is interested. You will learn how to prepare the ingredients, how to mix them to make the soup and also how to cook it. Apart from the soup the group will also help to make noodle, tomato sauce and dried vegetables. You will also have a chance to taste the soup and take some with you to try at home and teach to your friends. The daily occupation will be 2-3 hours and you will have a chance to join the other group activities in the center or enjoy your free time individually at the Afacan Youth House www.afacan.de. GEN-27 GIVE A HAND HOZAT-TUNCELI 05.08 – 20.08 RENO 15 VOLS Hozat is a lively town in the east part of Anatolia. In the summer local migrants living abroad or in the other cities of Turkey are spending their summer holiday in the town. Thus the population doubles. GENÇTUR is going to organize 2 workcamps in the town this year. This the second camp where international volunteers will do some renovation work in different parts of the town.

GEN-29 YOGA-ARTS-DANCE YENISAKRAN – IZMIR 10.08 – 17.08 ARTS 15 VOLS Would you like to learn traditional Turkish arts and add your creativity to make your own products? Is practising yoga interesting for you? Are you interested in folk dances? Do you like photography or painting? Have you ever tried skin care practises? You can find the chance to learn any of them that you like, in this camp. You will enjoy your stay in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de) while practising yoga or learning traditional arts like water marbling, bead setting or fine arts like oil painting with a special technic. You can also learns a traditional Greek dance “Sirtaki”. Some of the activities will be organized together with children groups who are using the same venue for kids camps. GEN-30 CHILDHOOD DREAMS YENISAKRAN–IZMIR 11.08 – 24.08 SOCI-KIDS 2 VOLS “My Dreams Are Becoming True” is a special project of GENCTUR designed for disadvantaged children from an orphanage in Istanbul. This camp is sponsored by external funds as well as the funds raised by GENCTUR through extra fees of the thematic camps. All accommodation and food expenses of the disadvantaged children are covered by funds. 2 groups of economically and socially disadvantaged children between 8-12 years old, from İstanbul will be hosted in Afacan Youth House ( www.afacan.de ) for 1 week, each. GEN-31 SPANISH SPEAKING KAS – ANTALYA 15.08 – 30.08 RENO/AGRI 15 VOLS Alternative Life Association (www.ayder.org.tr ) which aims and works for the social integration of people with disabilities has recently built a multi purpose venue in a village near by Kas – Antalya in the south-west of Turkey. In this venue people with disabilities who has been excluded from mainstream educational opportunities will have the chance to have education in various fields. Volunteers who are willing to work with and for disabled people are welcome. W: Allthough we do not request a nonstop working effort, volunteers are supposed to dedicate their time end energy when needed. Your help is requested all day long, of course with breaks. You can help us for the over all running of the site in different field works. Volunteers who can undertake more than just one task will be preferred. The work fields are as follows. 1) Kitchen : Food preperation / cooking / table setting / food serving / dish washing. 2) Field: General cleaning of all units / fixing buildings, boats, bikes, instruments / gardening both in main facility and in eco farm / animal care ( mainly horses), farming, harvesting, landscaping. 3) Training as artist or assistant or just helper : Art workshops (painting, dance, rhythm, instrument, dj, drama, photography, sculpture, ceramic, hangicraft) / courses ( PC, foreign languages, personal development, sign language) / reading & library management / sport ( swimming, scuba diving, sailing, rowing, canoeing, trekking, outdoor sports, volleyball, badminton, biking, bocce , climbing, archery) / boat skipping / various outdoor trainings / yoga and pilates. 4) Organization : Entertainment and event organizations / indoor – outdoor games, driving & transportation / short trips guiding / health care & first aid / free time activities; 5) Administration : Office works (web and social media support / designs, graphic designs / administrative assistance / leading volunteers. Volunteers needed to practice English by daily in & ourdoor activities, games and conversation. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening and will arrive in the host town in the next morning. GEN-34 LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER YENISAKRAN – IZMIR 31.08– 07.09 10 VOLS GENCTUR is organising this camp for celebrating its 35th anniversary, for people aged over 35. The idea is bringing people with or without work camp experience together to share their life experience and to learn from each other by doing things together. The camp will be held in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de), by the seaside. Activities like handcrafts, cooking, creative drama and yoga are already planned activities throughout the week. In addition to them, each participant will be asked to share/to teach /to make an activity together with the group. This could be organising sport activities, playing an instrument, etc., as they wish. The variety of activities will make the camp more joyous . The applicants are expected to indicate on the motivation part of the application form what they plan to do/share/teach during the camp. Each day, there will be free time to relax, to swim either in the pool or in the sea and to have sunbath. Optionally one day might be reserved for an excursion upon request of the participants on their own cost. Extra fee: 300 €. GEN-35 EAST-WEST MEETING YENISAKRAN-IZMIR 08.09 – 22.09 SOCI 6 VOLS With contributions of sister NGOs as well as our own financial and staff sources, we organise informal and non formal education for socialy and economically disadvantaged youth for empovering them. GENCTUR tries to give the equal opportunities to low income youth to participate for learning by doing. 15 university students from different cities of Turkey will have a chance to experience inter cultural learning & different activities during this camp. Including 2 GENCTUR leaders, the majority of the group will be Turkish. Except the leaders, the group members might not able to speak any foreign languages. GENCTUR is looking for 6 volunteers / counsellors who are able to organize, run and lead activities for the participants in different areas like practicing English, sport, drama, music, chess, indoor-outdoor games, handicraft, dance, etc. Volunteers must be at least 22 years old with experience of the above-mentioned activities or group leading. Non formal education experience is preferred. As the level of English of the camp participants will be very low, the volunteers / counsellors should be talkative, encouraging, communicative, patient, talented and ready to teach. GEN-36 IN THE CLASS-1 BOZKURT-KASTAMONU 13.09.-28.09 SOCI-TEENS 10 VOLS Native or non-native English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with Turkish teenagers studying in a high school, in order to practice English by daily lessons, activities, and games. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and have a Good level of speaking English. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. Alcohol consuming is not allowed during the camp as well as smoking in front of the students and indoors. The willage school need 5 international volunteers to practice English with secondary school kids of 10-14 age group. Volunteers will help those kids to socialize by organizing activities for them and by practising English. W: Practising English with kids in the classrooms and organizing activities for them. A primary school in İstanbul, invites you to practice English through in and outdoor activities with the pupils. We need creative thinking, child loving volunteers for this camp. The school teachers will help you to organize and run your program. You are also expected to assist the teachers in the classrooms. W: Practicing English with primary school pupils. GEN-39 SENIOR CAMP YENI SAKRAN 01.11 – 08.11 AGRI – 8 VOLS This workcamp is a special one for people over 35 years old. Afacan Youth House www.afacan.de is a place where GENCTUR runs voluntary workcamps for disadvantaged youth and children, disabled people, teenagers and kids. In order to supply annual olive and olive oil stocks, the center will host volunteers to pick up and process olives from a municipal field. W: Volunteers will collect olives from the trees, separate according to quality, pack, make stripes on olives, etc. There is a chance to see olive oil making process in a factory. As the youth center will be shut after this camp the volunteers will be asked to help to carry goods and some cleaning work as well as part of their daily work. GEN-40 X-MAS OLIVES SIRINCE – IZMIR 15.12 – 30.12 AGRI – 10 VOLS Are you looking for a useful holiday during your X-mas? You can collect olives in a natural environment. Math village is a math-summer school located in the nature and owns over 1000 olive trees and harvest about 20 tons of olives per year. The oil produced by the collected olives is used in the kitchen of the summer school. W: Volunteers will collect olives from the trees and pack. But if the olive harwest is low due to the weather conditions (If there will be not enough olive to pick) the Volunteers will be requested to do other manual works in the facility). GEN-STOPEN OPEN CAMP SIRINCE – IZMIR 15.06 – 15.09 RENO 15 VOLS If you have flexible dates or if you are a group of friends who wants to be placed together in a work camp, this camp is perfect for you. You can begin at anytime and spend 2 weeks in Math Village work camp. We can accept up to 5 individuals or 5 people from the same country for the same period which fits you between mid June – mid September. Beginnings are on the 1st or 15th of each month. This camp will give you a chance to meet a lot of Turkish young people who will be participating in mathematic courses in the center. But please also be aware that if you apply as an individual, for a certain period, you might be the only volunteer in these date span. W:

GEN-MTV1 DREAMS ACADEMY-IST ISTANBUL 01.01–31.05 SOCI-DISA-ART 10 VOLS Dreams Academy is a project realized with the financial support of UNDP and Turkey Vodafone Foundation since 2008. Dreams Academy has educated over 2000 socially disadvantaged individuals & people with disabilities in its art educaiton workshops, for free of charge.

Dreams Academy carried out two sub-projects with its innovative and creative pattern. Social Inclusion Band which has the motto of " Music For All " has youngsters with disabilities and professional volunteer musicians. The band gives concerts regularly in the best clubs in Istanbul. Dreams Dance Company which is a drama and dance group, performed on the scene with professional artists. International volunteers will help the projects in the Dreams Academy Center in BatıAtaşehir (at the Asian site of İstanbul ) with all aspects of workshop preparation, workshop performances as well as any other office or field work related to the project. W: Serving and assisting people with disabilities at workshops, assisting the instructors before and after workshops, organizing and running events on and off-site. Volunteers will work 6 days a week and have 1 day free in the weekdays as most of the weekends they will be busy. Most of the days, 8 working hours is requested. Please note that although the project is in İstanbul you will have a limited time to visit the city, due to long working hours which can not be bargened. If you do not agree with these conditions please do not apply. Candidates should be at least 20 years old and have a strong motivation to work with disabled people, socially disadvantaged groups & individuals and write a detailed motivation letter including their experiences (if any) and wish to be a part of a hard working team. Previous experiences are preferable but good mood & good wills are more essential. Minimum stay is 1 month up to 3 months. One can start any time but please be aware that, as the beginning dates are flexible for each volunteer, you might be the only volunteer during your stay if there is no other application for the same period.

R: Volunteers talented in dance, drama, playing a music instrument, juggling, photography, film, drawing, rhythm, vocal/choir will be preferred, allthough you may offer to teach another art or

GEN-MTV2 DREAMS ACADEMY-KAS ANTALYA 01.01 – 31.12 SOCI-DISA-ART 10 VOLS Alternative Life Association (www.ayder.org.tr ) which aims and works for the social integration of people with disabilities has recently built a multi purpose venue in a village near by Kas – Antalya in the south-west of Turkey. In this venue people with disabilities who has been excluded from mainstream educational opportunities will have the chance to have education in various fields. Volunteers who are willing to work with and for disabled people are welcome. Please be aware that the center is open all year but disabled people mainly will be there between 15 May – 30 October. Thus you should consider their absence if you are willing to come out of these dates and sometimes even within these days. Also you might be the only foreign volunteerduring your period of stay. We can not guarantee a group of international Volunteers all the time. W: Allthough we do not request a nonstop working effort, volunteers are supposed to dedicate their time end energy when needed. Your help is requested all day long, of course with breaks. You can help us for the over all running of the site in different field works. Volunteers who can undertake more than just one task will be preferred. The work fields are as follows. 1) Kitchen : Food preperation / cooking / table setting / food serving / dish washing. 2) Field: General cleaning of all units / fixing buildings, boats, bikes, instruments / gardening both in main facility and in eco farm / animal care ( mainly horses), farming, harvesting, landscaping. 3) Training as artist or assistant or just helper : Art workshops (painting, dance, rhythm, instrument, dj, drama, photography, sculpture, ceramic, hangicraft) / courses ( PC, foreign languages, personal development, sign language) / reading & library management / sport ( swimming, scuba diving, sailing, rowing, canoeing, trekking, outdoor sports, volleyball, badminton, biking, bocce , climbing, archery) / boat skipping / various outdoor trainings / yoga and pilates. 4) Organization : Entertainment and event organizations / indoor – outdoor games, driving & transportation / short trips guiding / health care & first aid / free time activities; 5) Administration : Office works (web and social media support / designs, graphic designs / administrative assistance / leading volunteers. A: Although a guest house and dormitories are avaliable, volunteers might be asked to stay in tents when necessary. GEN-MTV3 SEA TURTLES DALYAN-MUGLA 01.02 – 30.08 ANIM 4 VOLS Sea Turtle Research Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (DEKAMER ) is loacted in Iztuzu Beach where Caretta caretta lay their eggs. The center is run by academic staff and volunteers and the expenses are covered by donations. 2 volunteers needed per month. W: Volunteers needed for different tasks like patrolling on the beach during the egg laying season, rescuing wounded sea turtles and taking care of and feeding them during the curing period, distrubuting brochures to create an awareness about the dangers that the turtles face, giving information to the visitiors, sharing the daily tasks, etc. Before deciding to choose this camp please read the working rules at http://caretta.pau.edu.tr/index_eng.html very carefully. A:Bunk beds in containers. Bed sheets are supplied. Sleeping bag is necessary during the beach patrol. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Supplied at the camp site. Volunteers cook for the team in turns. R: Previous experience with animal care especially with sea turtles is preferred. Volunteers have to dedicate their time and energy for the hard work. Patrolling means walking 10 km. on the beach before midnight till early morning. You must be fit, healthy, strong and ready to give up your sleep at night and sleep during the day time. Day tasks are under heavy sun. Private life will be limited. You will be requested to take responsibilities at all sections of the center and undertake different tasks daily. A week contains 6 working days and one day off. A motivation letter should be sent together with the application form. Minimum stay is 1 month and can be extended up to 3 months if both sides agree at the end of the first month. LA: English. LO: Dalyan is in the South west of Turkey. The center is placed near the sea under pine trees. The beach is full of crowds especially in the long summer season between April – October. Volunteers should reach to the camp site by their own by following the directions given on the info sheet. Nearest Airport is Dalaman Airport. Extra Fee: 100 Euro (for students only) per month to be paid on arrival to DEKAMER, in order to cover the services provided like accommodation, food, laundry, internet, etc. and the facilities. Non students will be charged 200 Euro per month but a good performance may be prized a 50 % discount for the next months.
