Cobra Society —Alex Davis’s debut collection of designer boots for Fall 2011--combines modern geometric shapes with the beauty and functionalism of traditional, hand crafted artistry. TM
Inspired by North African culture and drawing from 20th century design philosophies of Le Corbusier and Giorgio di Sant’Angelo, Cobra Society rhythmically fuses the old with the new. The Kilim fabrics used on the shaft of each boot are woven by female rug artisans in a village in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains. No two rugs -- and thus no two Cobra Society boots -- are exactly the same. The Moroccan Kilim fabrics are combined with the highest quality Italian vegetable tanned leathers as virtuous materials are a cornerstone of Cobra Society’s unique luxury. Davis firmly believes that the composition of each boot is as important as the overall aesthetic. The boots are made in Spain using the Good Year Welt construction; the sole is hand sewn so that it naturally molds to the foot. This results in unsurpassed comfort and quality, yet few shoe lines today use this traditional method. The Cobra is an ancient sacred symbol. Like its namesake, Cobra Society’s bootwear evokes a heritage of ancient times, yet with the structure and street style for today’s cosmopolitan woman. Beautifully designed, lastingly constructed, versatile and timeless. Enjoy these boots in the city, at the souk, in the country, or at the beach. The Collection offers a handcrafted look to modern silhouettes in four different heights: a bootie -the Otto-, a mid calf -the Alcazar-, a knee high -the Marley-, and an over the knee -the Zeus. A generous slouchy feminine shaped shaft is paired with a 2 inch/5 cm stacked leather heel. All heights are offered in three different color schemes of Kilim and leather - Almond Leaf/Tan Nubuck, Madder Root/Tan Nubuck, and Black Olive/Midnight Nubuck.
