Helpful Tip Ergonomic Lighting Creating an ergonomic home office doesn’t just deal with the position of your computer monitor and the lumbar support of your chair. Effective lighting also plays a key role in the health and happiness of your working environment. Inadequate lighting is often compensated by our eyes adjusting. Improper lighting can strain our eyes and cause them to fatigue during work. Also, single source overhead lights are inadequate as a primary light source, especially when you’re multi-tasking. Everyone needs different amounts of light for optimal sight, so a focused desk lamp can be quite effective and useful.

Here are a few tips for ergonomic lighting:

• Try using an ergonomic desk lamp that has multiple pivot points for extra flexibility. • Place the lamp on the opposite side of your writing/ strong hand to minimize shadows on your work surface. • Minimize any direct glare by angling the shade light away from your eyes. • Choose a lamp with a flexible design, adjustable light intensities, and easy adjustable positioning.

• Position the desk lamp so that its light sweeps across your viewing/work area. See Figure A.

Trend Report Best in Show Does your pet always seem to make your bed, their bed? Well, Classic Paws has an innovative and elegant solution for you with the introduction of Furniture-Quality Pet Beds. At this year’s 2013 Global Pet Expo, Classic Paws walked away with the blue ribbon for New Product Showcase’s Best in Show. An article about Global Pet Expo states, Classic Paws “creates elegantly designed and intricately crafted furniturestyle pet beds made with premium selected hardwoods and veneers that are more luxurious than a lot of people beds!” These pet beds are available in six different styles and include a soft and durable foam mattress. Why, you may ask? What are the benefits of an elevated pet bed. Well, Classic Paws believes even your pets deserve a healthy and comfortable place to sleep. Benefits of a Pet Bed: 1. In the winter – Keep your pets from sleeping on the damp and chilly floor. 2. In the summer - Air can circulate under the elevated bed keeping your pets cool and ventilated.

(Your pets will be less likely to get on your home furniture when they have their own elevated cool beds). 3. Arthritis or joint pains – The elevated beds are more comfortable for pets to get into a resting position when they have difficulties standing, sitting or lying down. 4. Floor debris and dusts – Stay away from these elements that might find their way under the beds thus a better hygiene and comfortable resting environment is created. 5. Flea Allergy Dermatitis – Flea can only jump a few inches vertically thus will be difficult to reach the elevated beds. This helps avoid allergy symptoms and discomforts cause by fleas. 6. Relaxation – the benefits of elevated Classic Paws pet beds will provide a more comfortable sleeping and resting environment. Fully rested pets are always more energized, optimistic, and happy in their daily life. Treat your pets to the sleep and style they deserve!

Do It yourself project Wallpapered Bookshelves Give your bookshelves a brand new look with a wallpapered background! This is an easy and fast way to change the look of your living room or home office. For bookshelves with backing 1

Pick your pattern. Many substrates work well for this project. Pick a wallpaper, fabric, decorative paper or even a poster that you like.

2

Measure the back each shelf you want to cover. Be creative! You can make a checkerboard pattern like the cappuccino bookshelf pictured to the left. Or you can cover all the shelves. Pick one or many wallpapers to mix and match the look.

3

Carefully cut the wallpaper to match the size of each shelf back.

4

Install the wallpaper using wallpaper primer and paste. Make sure to smooth out the surface. Using a popsicle stick or credit card might help (works like a squeegee).

5

Let it dry overnight.

For bookshelves without backing 1

Some bookshelves don’t have a backing. Don’t worry, you can still do this project. First, pick your wallpaper pattern.

2

Measure the entire back area of the bookshelf (from corner to corner).

3

Cut a piece of plywood the same shape and size as your bookshelf.

4

Adhere your wallpaper or fabric to the plywood using primer and paste. Let it dry overnight.

5

Using a staple gun or screws, attach the plywood to the back of your bookshelf.
