What started out as a vacation destination has turned into home for Tierra Verde residents Ron Goldstein and his wife, Dr. Dori Kazdin. Dori says, “We’ve had our house part-time for eight years here in Tierra Verde. We were coming down for long weekends once a month.” Last July, they finally made the move for good and have been happy ever since. Dori learned of Tierra Verde because her aunt lives in Isla and had been talking about the art culture in St. Pete. Dori and Ron have a heart for the arts and everything St. Pete has to offer. Dori’s parents also moved here locally two years ago and she was eager to follow in their footsteps. Prior to living in Tierra Verde, Ron and Dori resided in Chicago, where Dori worked as a pediatrician. Dori is originally from New York and grew up in New Jersey. She attended the University of Michigan and earned her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Illinois/Chicago. Dori explains, “There were the first murmurings of AIDS and no one knew it was a virus. There was a big race to find out what this disease was and what was causing it.” Dori did a research fellowship in La Jolla, California, before realizing that her day-to-day work wasn’t her dream job. Her mother encouraged her to do what she wanted. With her mother’s advice in mind, she enrolled in medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago at the age of 30.
Now Ron is known as the Beach House Guy and has sold over $100 million in properties. He is looking forward to his new role as an Ambassador with the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce. He will also be helping them with their marketing and social media campaigns. In addition, Ron is on the marketing committee for the Skyway Marina District. Ron has two children from a previous marriage. His son, Corey, 28, is in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. His daughter works in software in the restaurant industry in Houston.

In their free time, Ron and Dori have a number of pastimes together. They love pickleball and enjoy their friendly neighbors. One of their neighbors knocked on the door, invited them to play pickleball, and they’ve been hooked and playing ever since. You can also find them watching local theater. Three to four times a week, they go out to see their favorite performers on stage or listen to music. Ron loves theater and recently was the leading actor in a musical comedy called Let It Go. He danced in 3-inch heels and did an amazing job. Ron was nominated for the Tampa Bay regional award for Best Actor. This happy couple likes going kayaking and fishing, too. Ron recently went paddleboarding, which he loved! They are also avid cooks. While Ron likes lots of heat in his dishes, Dori likes food with a little less “fire.” When they go out, Ron and Dori like eating at Island Grille and Billy’s (where they love to see the sunset). Dori discovered that she likes to make jewelry. She is toying with the idea of doing it as a business. She likes going to new art exhibits and the WADA – Warehouse Arts District Association. Dori is also taking jewelry classes. She might volunteer at All Children’s. She comments, “I’m looking for personal connections with people.” She and Ron have met quite a few people in the neighborhood and are looking forward to meeting more friendly folks in the near future. When you see Ron and Dori out and about, tell them you read about them here in Tierra Verde Living!
