Enviro-Guard introduces: R.S.S. (Rapid Sump System) The R.S.S. (Rapid Sump System) is designed to prevent rain water or liquid spills from filling up your secondary containment structure taking away from important fluid holding limits. When the liquid begins filling the containment structure the float valve on the R.S.S. is triggered. Once the float valve is triggered the pump will turn on and pump the liquid into the separator tank or any available flow lines. This allows the vacuum truck company to make fewer trips to the location. The manual switch R.S.S. model allows the pumper to turn on the pump if needed when fluid is present in the containment structure and allows the fluid to be pumped into the separator tank or clean rain water out on the ground. The R.S.S. filters out gravel and large debris, keeping it out of the separator tank and the vacuum truck. Secondary containment structures need to be as empty as possible during storms because the more rain water the containment structure is holding the less it can hold if lightning strikes the tank battery. The base of the R.S.S. is made of PVC with suction holes drilled throughout, maximizing the suction area. Each end of the base contains a filtering screen that covers the large openings. These openings allow for a larger volume of water to be pumped out of the secondary containment structure. The unit’s base is designed for easy access to the inside for debris removal. Custom shapes can be created to any specifications upon request. The R.S.S. Pump is C.S.A certified to run off of compressed natural gas which is a readily available product at most oil and gas locations. Since the pump is powered by compressed air or compressed gas, and is painted with static free paint with interior grounding, there is no chance of a

spark. The R.S.S can pump up to 45 gallons per minute and has a large operating range of 25 psi to 120 psi. Most pumps use rubber balls and seats that swell when they come in contact with harsh chemicals. This swelling can hinder the pumps performance. The R.S.S. uses nylon balls and seats to prevent this swelling from occurring. Due to the patented non-centering valve system, the R.S.S. pump is guaranteed to start every time compressed air or gas is applied. The R.S.S. pump can be customized for a ½”, 1 ½”, 2” or 3” outlet upon request.

for longer valve life. The booster’s redesigned piping system comes with minimal NPT fittings, reducing the risk of leaks. Single-point lifting and a stronger base-frame with forklift slots ensure safe transportation of the unit.

Atlas Copco announces new Hurricane booster September 28, 2011 – Franklin, IN – Critical applications such as oil and gas, water well and geothermal drilling cannot afford booster downtime. Atlas Copco’s newest B7-41/1000 Hurricane booster, announced today, comes with advanced operational, safety and maintenance features that offer customers increased reliability and the lowest possible downtime. Smaller and lighter than competitive units of the same class, the Hurricane B7-41 has a capacity of 2440 cfm at a maximum discharge of 1000 psi. Atlas Copco’s new Hurricane B7-41/1000 booster delivers a powerful performance with an extremely compact footprint (L:139” x W:80” x H:72”). The booster is driven by a Caterpillar C7 diesel engine and features a four-cylinder, single stage, reciprocating booster. Using a six-cylinder, turbocharged drive engine, it provides increased flows and pressures for improved borehole drilling. It also comes with a standard 24 volt starting and operating system. The new Hurricane B7-41/1000 sports several service and safety improvements. Each cylinder has a temperature sensor connected to a shutdown safety system to prevent overheating damage. Engine and booster coolers are now separate for better air flow efficiency and easier maintenance. New dual inlet ports into the suction manifold distribute air evenly into the valves

it’s just getting started. Housed in 160,000 square feet of shared space with

seems to have found its niche in the developing Marcellus Shale industry—and

subcontractor United Industrial Corporation, ETC manufactures a line of

portable storage tanks and roll-off containers designed to meet the tightening

environmental regulations associated with the drilling of Marcellus Shale natural gas wells.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett was among the dignitaries and guests of

the practice of burying the cuttings or waste from the drilling process in pits

tainers that are transported to approved landfills. With Anadarko leading the

way, other major gas companies followed suit in adopting the more eco-friendly practices.

ETC responded by designing a line of frac tanks, mud tanks, above ground im-

poundments, flowback and vacuum tanks that were more compact and easier

ETC’s parent company, Johnstown Welding and Fabrication Industries (JWFI),

to move over the road. The company is currently producing about 40 tanks a

cember 22, 2011. “What I like seeing is that somebody who wasn’t involved in

normally does,” said Joe Boyle, ETC’s general manager. “We’re not building

the industry said, ‘You know what? There’s something to be done here.’” said Corbett.

month. “The work we’re doing at ETC is actually stepping out from what JWFI

something for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). This is our own product line. We’re doing work for ourselves.”

Prior to ETC’s entry into the market, the bulk of storage and transport containers came from Texas or

Oklahoma. Polacek said customers have been astonished at the difference in quality. “What they continue to tell us is they have never seen work-

manship like this. My response to them is that’s be-

cause there has never been any built in Pennsylvania.”

Through its relationship with United Industrial, ETC

went from 3 workers in April 2011 to 80 at year’s

end—everything from engineers and welders to

project managers and sales people. The company’s

goal for 2012 is to ramp up production to a rate of

100 tanks per month. “Our expectation is to hire

another 70 (workers) next year.” The plant also anticipates $36 million in sales for 2012, he said.

But ETC is not the only company that stands to gain

from its relationships within the Marcellus Shale in-

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Environmental Tank & Container’s new manufacturing facility in Johnstown. In late 2010, unsure of the role manufacturing might play in the growing natu-

ral gas sector, Polacek diverted Director of Business Development Matt Hughes

from typical JWFI business to investigate. The timing couldn’t have been bet-

ter. Anadarko, one of the largest independent oil and natural gas exploration

and production companies in the world, was drilling on state forest and game land in Pennsylvania when the company announced it was converting all of its

dustry. There is valuable spinoff business to be had.

More than 40 percent of the materials that go into ETC’s tanks are purchased locally, according to Boyle.
