ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and the key points of your platform. I ran for this position because I feel that my convictions have grown outside of the organization. I have bigger ideas that I believe, can help my cluster grow as a whole. My platform shall basically consist of a 4-point plan that chronologically tries to solidify members and make my cluster more known to the entire student body. Consisting of continuing the inter-org bonding started by my predecessor, the strengthening of relationships between organizations and pertinent outside institutions, the creating of sensible advocacies and the strengthening of transitions, my platform aims to create sustainable growth for all parties concerned.

PLEDGE I, Marcus Romeo T. Javier , attest to the facts contained in this Certificate of Candidacy and in all other documents required by the Commission on Elections of the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo (COA). I thereby give the COA and the Office of Student Activities permission to evaluate the facts contained in all the documents I have submitted to the COA Commission on Elections. I swear to uphold the rules stipulated in the COA Electoral Code and by the COA Commission on Elections with full awareness that the violation of the said rules would result to possible sanctions as stipulated in the COA Electoral Code. It is my sincere intention to promote a free, honest, and clean election.

Central Board Elections 2009-2010: Electoral Form

III. PLATFORM You are allowed to have more than four (4) Main Points. USE PROPER FORMAT. Strictly ONE (1) LINE ONLY for each Main Point and NO MORE THAN SEVEN (7) LINES for the Details. Note: A sentence does not automatically correspond to one line. 1)

Main Point: Continue Inter-Organization Bonding Details: A large chunk of this year’s cluster head’s plans is devoted to bonding the organizations of the cluster for better efficiency as a whole. I plan to continue this endeavour by creating more cohesive projects that involve all of the organizations’ core competencies. Each org has their own plans for the year and incorporating these plans into a large sector-based activity will promote inter-org connections and bonding. I plan on making a more comprehensive recruitment week system as well as a more promoted HEC Week.

2)

Main Point: Connect with other organizations to strengthen Core Competencies Details: Most organizations in the cluster have an Institute inside the Ateneo that can help them strengthen their foundations as organizations. By establishing a sustainable foundation, each organization can focus on other aspects of their systems, such as memberships and projects. Tie-ups with outside organizations can provide meaningful relationships that can stretch the boundaries of every organization involved. Institutes such as the Ateneo Guidance Office, Haribon, Greenpeace and ASMPH are among the many places where sustainable relationships can be forged

3)

Main Point: Provide Advocacies for Nation Building as well as to Promote each organization. Details: With the recent events in our spheres (Ondoy, Suicide Cases, etc), the Health and Environment Cluster has a huge niche to fill in today’s society. Our core competencies are actually geared towards these recent events: Mental and Physical Wellness as well as environmental concern. By providing Advocacies that tackle each organization’s mission-vision, both the organization and what they stand for can help address these issues. Looking at the bigger picture, all of these advocacies and the actions they seek to stimulate can help in the Nation-Building initiative of the school.

4)

Main Point: To set up sustainable transitions for organizations in each cluster for sustainable growth. Details: The success and depth of this point depends on the success of the previous three points. By establishing a firm membership base as well as projects that can consistently be effective in reflecting each organization’s missionvision, emphasis on transitions can then be created. With effective systems in place: such as a mentoring system and a sensible core team structure, each organization can be sure that future administrations can competently handle and sustain the successes of the previous batch of officers.
