DCM RECAP

DIVISION 27 SOUTH MOUNTAIN HOUSE, NICOLE NGUYEN The February DCM was held on Friday the 8th, at Weston Ranch High School. It was my very first time on that campus, and this DCM was different from the rest because this was the first time I was a nn o u n c ed as th e Lieutenant Governor Elect at a Division Council Meeting! I had a lot of fun because I got to see old friends, and meet lots of new underclassmen and juniors, some of which was their first time coming to a DCM! Weston Ranch Key Club was very kind to prov ide san dw ic h es, snacks, and drinks that we enjoyed. We made yarn dolls, which were really interesting to make because everyone could design them their own, original way, and it would look unique and cute. We also made cards for orphans, some of which were Valentine’s theme!

It was a rainy evening, and there was even a basketball event going on at the same time, so I am really grateful to those who came to have a fun time meeting other Koi Fish and doing service projects!

LITTLE HEARTS WARRIOR EVENT DIVISION 15 NORTH UPLAND, ISABELLA DEMETZ

The Little Heart Warriors Event gave key clubbers the opportunity to have fun and cheer on runners as they completed the 5k. Groups were set up spread out around the track so participants were motivated all throughout the length of the area. We cheered as each person came by, even using key club motivation chants in the process. The rain poured on us during the day, but we kept dry under umbrellas and continued to help out. It was great to see everyone’s spirit brightened as they passed our group giving them encouragement. We saw all ages come out and support the cause, even despite the unfavorable weather conditions. Key Clubbers could talk and bond throughout the run, all while assisting with the event. At the end, we walked back to the main center of the event and greeted the runners as they came in.

LOS OSOS , MICHELLE DENG

Last Saturday, I volunteered for the Little Hearts Warrior Walk located at Central Park with my fellow key clubbers. Even though it was raining, the runners enthusiastically participated for the good cause of the event. Our job was to cheer on the participants and hand out medals or bags. I had a lot of fun interacting with the runners and the vendors who set up tent there. This is definitely an event I would volunteer for next year.

BIRD AND BUGS BONANZA

DIVISION 44 NORTH WOODCREEK, KATRINA LEE This year, Woodcreek Key Club was invited to help volunteer at the Bird and Bugs Bonanza. At this event, we taught children about making sure only rain goes down the drain to ensure that Roseville’s environment is clean and healthy for all life. Through games such as sorting trash and booths where children could learn about the benefits of bees, everyone had a wonderful time.
