This slide program visits official and unofficial homes of Pennsylvania’s Governors, presented at the June 14 annual picnic of the Historical Association of Tobyhanna Township (HATT) at 5:30 p.m. Included are Pennsbury Manor and the Philadelphia residences of William Penn, the various mansions and townhouses in Harrisburg occupied by governors since 1817, and the present-day executive mansion on Front Street

in Harrisburg, which this year is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its completion in 1968 (after some 40 years of false starts and delays). Also seen are gubernatorial landmarks and private homes across Pennsylvania, including Gifford Pinchot’s “Grey Towers” and “Marworth,” the Scranton family estate. We also visit “State House,” the onetime summer residence of governors at Indiantown Gap and today the only official lieutenant governor’s

residence in the United States. This program is being held at the Blanch D. Price Park, 105 Government Way. This is HATT’s annual picnic. Members are asked to bring a salad or desert. 16, educators from Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will lead a snorkeling exploration of McMichael Creek near Snydersville. The program is geared to children from kindergarten through seventh grade, but people of all ages are welcome, including parents and older and younger siblings. Snorkeling gear will be provided.
