Pearl-diademed, helmeted, draped, and cuirassed bust right, holding spear and shield / Valentinian standing facing on galley left, head right, raising hand and holding transverse scepter; to lower right, Victory seated facing, head upward left, holding oar; (wreath)/ (cross)//ANTЄ. Good VF, hard dark green and red-brown patina. Faces of imperial busts and notation of value inlaid with silver. Very attractive example. ($300)

Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right, holding spear and shield, and being crowned by manus Dei from above / Arcadius standing left, holding labarum and shield set on ground; to left, captive seated right; CONΓ(star). ($200) From the Elliott-Kent Collection. Ex Spink 169 (15 July 2004), lot 171. The obverse legend on the die that was used to strike this specimen was apparently re-engraved. It is likely that the die was originally used for siliquae of Theodosius I (RSC 56†a), and reworked to strike coins of Maximus once he secured Trier during his revolt.
