ust as the Pilgrims set foot in the New World on December 11, 1620, pioneers dedicated to taking control of their own destiny and forging the City of Sunny Isles Beach accomplished their goal on June 16, 1997 and ever since, there has been much to be thankful for. ‘PIONEERS OF PROGRESS’ One of the most proactive chapters in the Sunny Isles Beach “Thanksgiving Story” dates back to the early 1990’s when Miami-Dade County still ruled and citizens subject to paying property taxes were not reaping the rewards associated with living in their own city. hrough wind and rain, thousands of Sunny Isles Beach residents and guests came out to enjoy the city’s annual Halloween event, Booogie by the Beach, on October 28th and 29th. Festivities included carnival rides, games, crafts, musical entertainment by DJ, and various vendors (including Kiwanis of North Miami Beach/Sunny Isles Beach, Toby’s Concessions, Kona Ice of Miami, Miami Dade College Model United Nations, Splurge Studios, and Gohill Orthodontics). In addition, guests with a “sweet tooth” joined us in the gymnasium, where they enjoyed participating in various game stations, in hopes of winning a treat. As well, guests enjoyed a special acrobatic performance, “Trick or Treat” three times each night, by Rainbow Circus. These talented artists entertained with jokes, kooky story lines, and spectacular acrobatic feats. And to maintain

our reputation, the city’s main attraction, our Haunted House, was spookier than ever. Guests filled with fright while dodging ghosts

and goblins through the 15-room maze. On Saturday, October 29th, those who braved the weather, participated in a Costume Contest. We want to recognize our special winners: Scariest Costume (Teen Category) – Michael Talalaevsky; Scariest Costume (Child Category) – Chloe and Thales; Most Creative Costume (Adult Category) – Orlando and Jackie Perdomo; Most Creative Costume (Teen Category) – Corbin Bolies & Elisa Silverstein; Most Creative Costume (Child Category) – Gabriella Gutierrez, Shelby Kostyukovsky, and Nicole Vayman. Congratulations to all of our winners! And a special “THANK YOU” to Tony Roma’s for donating the prizes for the costume contest. Finally, this event would not be possible without all the hard work of many employees and volunteers. In particular, thanks goes out to our Police Department and Public Works Department for partnering with the Cultural & Human Services Department to make this a true community event where residents and guests can celebrate with friends and family, in a safe environment. id you order a burger from one of the NSE/SIB K8 teachers last week during McTeacher Night at the local McDonalds? Maybe you opted for a beverage or a salad. If so, it was probably served to you by a NSE/SIB teacher! Or maybe it was the Principal or Assistant Principal! Did you cheer when the teachers hit the ball in Pelican Park during the softball game between the faculty and the 8th Grade students? Swinging at the ball, running the bases and crossing the plate was just part of the excitement that created an evening

• • LIFE IN THE CITY • • Lots to be thankful for BY BARI AUERBACH

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, everyone’s thinking about eating turkey and watching football - but what about reflecting upon the plethora of things city residents are thankful for? Here are just some of the assets enticing people from all over the world to make a “pilgrimage” to Sunny Isles Beach…. THANKS FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS: The city’s budget includes funding for ongoing capital improvements, new parks plus many more great municipal assets…In fact, the list of improvements is so long, even Santa may not be able to match all the “gifts that will keep on giving” for many years to come. THANKS FOR THE GREAT SCHOOL: Parents and kids are still celebrating the A grades earned by the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach School….Rumor has it, a “customized” curriculum may soon be introduced featuring classes like “Tanning 101”; “Condo Board Meeting Etiquette”; and a class that should be mandatory for such a diverse community: “International Relations.” THANKS FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY: The city is always stepping up efforts to keep Sunny Isles Beach streets safe – but ever wonder if it would just be easier to make it mandatory for every citizen to ride the city’s shuttle bus (now connecting with

Surfside shuttles so you can ride all the way to South Beach!) This could result in a lot less traffic and instead of paying for expensive gas, you could buy an even bigger turkey for Thanksgiving dinner – or better yet – have it gourmet catered from the Epicure market!!

THANKS FOR ALL THE FUN: Concerts, movie nights, trips, sports programs and special holiday events are always being planned by the city’s Cultural and Human Services Department that has inadvertently tapped into the secret to world peace: Parties like the recent “Booogie by the Beach” promoting unity with an unbeatable weapon: Free food!

THANKS FOR THE TECHNOLOGY: Now that parks in Sunny Isles Beach have wireless Internet access, it’s easier than ever to log on to the city’s high-tech website (sibfl.net) and keep up to date on important city news, meetings and special events. You can find just about everything you’re looking for – except a great date…so if you’re single, you may want to email a suggestion that the city add a link like “Sunny Perfect Match.com”

Listen to your Echo

Patricia C. Frank FRANKLY SPEAKING An echo is a reflection of sound waves. It is the repetition of sounds or spoken words. You speak or make a sound and your words or sounds come back to you. You cannot shout out one thing and have a different thing return to you. It will return exactly as you say it. So, be careful what you say. Think before you speak. Am echo is also a reflection of what you are thinking and feeling. The Universe is a reflective mirror of your innermost thoughts, feelings and actions. What you send out into the world returns to you. Like begets Like. If you speak ill of someone, that will come back to you. If you even think ill of someone that will come back to you from others. If you are thinking fearful, angry and unhappy thoughts you will have fearful, angry and unhappy thoughts that will echo back to you. If you send out love and good deeds

that is what will return to you. If you want good things to come to you, then you must send out good things. Send out love, peace, patience, forgiveness, hope, kindness, understanding and joy. Send out positive affirmations. Those thoughts, statements and affirmations will reinforce your statements and give them more power when they come back to you. They will be magnified and intensified. You can also be an echo for the words, thoughts and beliefs of other people. You can imitate them and you can reflect their opinions or actions instead of your own. So, again be careful who and what you endorse. Listen to your echo and it will tell you exactly what you think and feel about yourself and others. The echo confirms your beliefs. If negative things are coming to you realize that you have the power to change them quickly into positives. If you are not receiving what you want from the Universe try sending out that which you want to receive. Patricia Frank is a Licensed Psychotherapist. She can be reached at 305-788-4864, 212-308-0309.

Class Warfare-An Income Tax on the Wealthy

Bob Diamond HISTORICALLY YOURS The top 1% own most of the wealth of the nation, a staggering recession with millions of people unemployed, an Anti-Wall Street protest leading to a semi-organized group who successfully help oust the Republicans from Congress and the Democrats then introduce a 2% income tax on the wealthy, over Republican opposition. Sound familiar? Sorry, it was the era of the 1890’s Out of the financial distress, including falling farm prices, came a tornado of AntiWall Street protesters; the People’s Party, known as Populists. They believed that organized wealth was “sucking the country dry with monopolistic prices, extortion rates and tariffs.” In the 1890 elections, the Republicans (party of big business) were swept out of power. The new House had 235 Democrats and 88 Republicans. In June 1894, the Congressional Democrats enacted a 2% income tax on the wealthy. Missouri

Democratic Congressman David Armond stated, “The passage of the bill will mark the dawn of a brighter day, the laughter of well fed children …God hastened the era of equality in taxation and opportunity!” The Republican spokesmen “went into a virtual panic,” despite their having previously imposed a higher federal income tax during the Civil War that the Supreme Court had ruled was constitutional. Senior Republican Senator Sherman stated, “The income tax was socialism, communism and devilism.” The Dean of the New York Bar argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that the income tax was “a communist march on private property.” The decision came down on May 20, 1895. The Court “reversed itself and voted, five to four, that the Democratic income tax was unconstitutional.” The same day, minority Justice John Harlan denounced the decision as a “monstrous, wicked injustice to the many for the benefit of the favored few.” Senior Justice Stephen J. Field wrote the strongest opinion against the income tax, stating, “It was an assault upon capital,” and the beginning of “a war of the poor against the rich.” The issue was resolved when the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified on February 13, 1913, which broadened the right of Congress to levy an income tax.

of family fun. Teachers, parents, and students rooted for their teams to score and make a great play. I mention this because I want everyone to know that the NSE/SIB K-8 staff members are super stars both in the classroom and in the community. Our outstanding faculty devotes numerous hours to before and after school academic activities to support our students. Some teachers arrive early to provide individual attention for struggling students and others arrive early to open the school’s computer labs so children can work on online programs. NSE/SIB also supports an extensive three day a week after school tutorial program for students in grades 3 through 8 who need some extra assistance in reading and math. In January, the program will be expanded to include 2nd grade students. In addition, our science teachers have been offering Science Fair Project Boot Camps that help students prepare their projects for the annual science fair later this month. Our young scientists can also be found conducting experiments during SECME meetings. And let’s not forget our talented artists who meet each week to broaden their skills and create banners and decorations for our special assemblies. Finally, our teachers are

preparing the next generation of educators by sponsoring Future Educator Clubs. The NSE/SIB teachers are going above and beyond to ensure that our students have every opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. I cannot close this article about our super star staff without sharing a word or two about their generosity. Throughout the year the teachers participate in many charitable events including the Walk for the Cure and the Mercedes Benz Walk, holiday food and toy drives, and donations for people in need. In addition, NSE/SIB has won numerous recognitions for its overwhelming contributions to the United Way Student Campaign and the Staff Campaign. At NSE/SIB, there is already a solid tradition of giving back to the community and helping others. The teachers and staff members are modeling behaviors they would like the children to replicate as they move forward and become community leaders. When students are engaged in the community, classroom lessons have a stronger, more meaningful impact on their learning. Together, the staff and students are building a caring, giving tomorrow for all of us. I couldn’t be prouder of the NSE/SIB K-8 family.

SIB Police Department Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month BY CORPORAL BRIAN SCHNELL

Public Information Officer National Breast Cancer Awareness Month occurs annually between October 1 and October 31, and was founded in 1985. The hard work, and countless contributions made to combat this vicious disease have certainly paid off as Breast Cancer is now one of the most survivable cancers known with an over-

all survival rate of 85%. Everywhere you look during the month of October, you will likely see a pink ribbon which symbolizes support to fight this dreaded disease. From celebrities to prominent politicians, from major corporations to sports franchises, it seems everybody is “on board” in this fight. The team includes the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. Miami-Dade County saw numerous “pink ribbon” events during the entire month. The 16th annual Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure took place on Saturday October 15, 2011 and included a 5k walk and run, a one mile fun walk and tot run at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. Our very own Corporal Melissa Porro and her son were on hand, and didn’t miss a moment of the action. “Very impressive!” is how she described the out pouring of support at the walk. “It is amazing to see just how many people, how many of our own loved ones are affected by this horrible disease.” Porro said. While she doesn’t know exactly how many attended this event, she described the crowd as “huge”. On October 25th, the events made their way to Sunny Isles Beach, where the Tr u m p I n t e r n a t i o n a l B e a c h R e s o rt hosted the F l o r i d a B re a s t C a n c e r

F o u n d a t i o n ’s 6th annual Shades of Pink Masquerade Ball. Directly across the street from the ball, at the Trump International Beach Resort, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department proudly displayed the Miami Beach Police Department’s “Pink Power” marked police car, which is prominently painted pink and white and is adorned with Breast Cancer Awareness emblems. Corporal Porro coordinated with Miami Beach Police Officer Vivian Hernandez in order to display their vehicle here. The car was on display

October 24th and 25th. Many tourists and visitors to our city took photo opportunities in front of the special police vehicle. Breast cancer is a disease that affects all of us, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a powerful tool to fight it. Given how successful and large this cause has become, there is no doubt that it will grow even larger and provide even more financial support toward the battle to defeat it, and the Sunny Isles beach Police Department will ALWAYS support the fight!

The Commission Meeting Agenda BY COMMISSIONER JEANETTE GATTO

Please join us on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Commission Chamber for this month’s Commission Meeting. There will be a zoning hearing for the development of a 57-story condominium building with 132 units. It will be Porsche Design’s entry into Sunny Isles Beach in partnership with Dezer Development Company. Unique to the building will be 284 robotic parking spaces. There will be circular rotating platforms at the center of the building that essentially behave like elevators, giving access to each owner’s car on the floor which they reside. The location for the Porsche Design building is the site of the Golden Nugget Beach Club (18555 Collins Avenue). There will be second readings for three Ordinances: • Lobbyist Registration and Fees • Revisions to MUR District, revisions to Town Center District and revisions to TDRs

incorporation, known as “Concerned Citizens of Northeast Dade” were led by civic activists including the late Mayor David Samson. Brave and persistent, they made a pilgrimage downtown and secured support from a strong ally - Sen. Gwen Margolis. After freedom fighters formed a Charter Commission and drafted a Charter there was a landslide vote in favor of incorporation and the City of Sunny Isles Beach was officially born. But this was just the start of greater things to come. In 1997, newly elected members of the City Commission began the challenging task of transforming a declining tourist destination into a vibrant, progressive city. ‘NEW WORLD OF DIFFERENCE’ One of the first promises kept by the City Commission was the formation of a firstclass Police Department. Thanks to a tribe of “best in blue” officers now led by wise Chief Fred Maas, criminals behaving like wild Indians no longer posed a great threat to peace and security; state-of-the-art patrol cars could ride like the wind to respond to calls; and a philosophy of community policing prevailed. With motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, jet skis and boats, vigilant patrols were always looking out for the welfare of citizens. Positive changes were happening fast…the only thing slowing down was traffic on

Ordinance There will be eleven Resolutions on the Agenda: • Requesting approval to declare Lewis J. Thaler as Vice Mayor • Requesting approval of funds to Royal Rent-A-Car Systems of Florida to utilize rental vehicles for covert investigations by the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department • Request approval for funds to purchase new and replacement uniforms for the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department • Request approval to enter into an agreement with Calvin Giordano & Assoc., Inc. for projects relating to the Newport Pier, general capital improvement projects, survey for the Cornfeld Property and Newport Pier, and design services for the Intracoastal Park • Request approval to purchase necessary parts and supplies and obtain repair services from various vendors for equipment and vehicles maintained by the Public Works Department • Request approval to contract with Bonnie Bennett to provide design services for the City • Request approval for a three-year contract extension with Stockton Maintenance Group, Inc. for janitorial services for City Hall and

other properties • Request approval for an interlocal agreement with the State Attorney for reimbursement of municipal violations • Request approval to increase the hours of operation of the Library, specifically to include Fridays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in order to accommodate City residents • Approval to enter into an agreement with

Collins Avenue and around interior neighborhoods welcoming reduced speed limits. From the startup of a convenient shuttle bus service - to the creation of a Cultural and Human Services Department planning trips, concerts and special events for the whole community to enjoy, the wheels of progress continued to turn. Like emerging colonies, distinct city departments were also established – each with a proactive mission based on promoting the highest quality of life, working in conjunction with the City Manager. Public Works started cleaning up the streets and removing overgrown brush. Code Enforcement encouraged citizens to be law abiding and promote an upscale image. The Building Department recruited a team of expert officials and inspectors. The Finance Department helped draft feasible budgets; highly qualified zoning and community development experts were charged with promoting optimal development. An Administrative Services Department was created to keep things running smoothly. And a Cultural and Human Services was established to plan enriching, entertaining “community unity” events for residents of all ages to enjoy.

the night in Commission chambers (formerly located in an RK Shopping Center), residents, business and community leaders discussed pivotal issues such as beach access and zoning codes designed to foster optimal development along Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard. Soon, old rundown motels along the east side of Collins Avenue started to disappear and multi-million dollar developments began to rise. Relics of the past like Colonial Inn were replaced with the futuristic Pinnacle by J. Milton & Associates, The Related Group’s Ocean One…Two…Three, etc. And soon after, international publications announced the triumphant news that Donald J. Trump, the Trumps of Williams Island, Turnberry Associates and other world-famous developers such as Fortune International were landing on Sunny Isles Beach. As property values continued to climb, taxes stayed low - but adhering to the motto “good isn’t good enough,” the City Commission voted to embark on another ambitious initiative supporting the goal to make Sunny Isles Beach “Florida’s Riviera.”

‘PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE’ Pioneers of progress were called into action once again when a Citizens’ Planning Advisory Committee was formed to help draft a Comprehensive Plan shaping the future of development in Sunny Isles Beach. Working late into

Public Resources Management Group, Inc. in order for the City to be part of a collaborative effort of a joint review performed on the accuracy and the distribution of FPL franchise fees • Request authorization of the transfer of TDRs from Fort Apache Marina, LLC to Porsche Design Residences Lastly, there will be a discussion about the possibility of building a Tennis Center in the City.

Free WiFi in City Parks Sunny Isles Beach offers residents and visitors free WiFi throughout the city’s parks as Connect to: part of a Wireless Island Project. All of the city parks are WiFi Hotspots where internet www.sibfl.net connectivity is free, wireless, and commercial-free. The city parks that are WiFi Hotspots include Bella Vista Bay Park, Pier Park, Samson Oceanfront Park, Town Center Park, Senator Gwen Margolis Park, Golden Shores Community Park, Pelican Community Park, and Heritage Park. WiFi is also available at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center. There are private companies that offer WiFi services for a fee in condominiums or private homes.

‘SWEEPING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS’ While residents of Golden Shores were cheering a much needed stormwater drainage and street paving project, pow wows were being held and the City Commission ultimately voted for a “feast your eyes on this” comprehensive capital improvement plan benefiting the entire city. Primarily targeting beautification, park

development, a streetscape plan, future property acquisitions and road resurfacing, the capital improvements would promote the highest quality of life - yet Sunny Isles Beach would still maintain one of the lowest property tax rates in Miami-Dade County. In keeping with the pioneer spirit, a Mayor’s Advisory Council was also formed so residents could provide input to the City Commission while volunteering to serve on committees relating to public good and welfare. Accomplishing even more visionary projects, a gala groundbreaking ceremony at the Tony Roma’s site marked the beginning of construction for the magnificent new Government Center now gracing Collins Avenue. As the city welcomed more and more Sunny Isles Beach settlers including many families with children, the Commission realized the need for city parks and a school. Continued efforts to acquire land and grant funds helped make the dream come to fruition as park dedications ensued and a school, recently christened the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8, first opened in the fall of 2008. MUCH MORE TO BE THANKFUL FOR In 1676, the town council of Charlestown, Massachusetts officially declared a day of Thanksgiving and now in 2011 and beyond, the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission has pledged to continue forging ahead with progressive initiatives residents and visitors are sure to be especially thankful for.

All-new Ford Focus has sleek design, delivers 40 mpg Ron Beasley AUTOMOTIVE EDITOR

LET’S TALK CARS It’s nice to see that Ford has finally come around and is offering American consumers something more than gas-guzzling SUVs and monster pickup trucks. I refer specifically to the all-new Ford Focus, a small car with a wonderfully fresh design, high levels of craftsmanship and occupant safety, an exceptional array of smart new technologies, and an EPA-rated 40 mpg on the highway. On top of all that, Focus delivers solid handling and an overall excellent driving experience. Focus is powered by a new 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that combines high-pressure gasoline direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency. How about 20 horsepower more than the previous Focus engine and a fuel economy improvement of more than 10 percent? The new engine is mated to the latest sixspeed Ford PowerShift automatic transmis-

sion with a high-efficiency dual dry-clutch design. The advanced transmission also is offered with SelectShift Automatic that allows you to shift gears manually. A fivespeed manual transmission is available. With a sleek and sporty design, Focus is available in hatchback and sedan models — S, SE, SEL and Titanium trim levels. The four-door sedan and five-door hatchback models mark the next step of Ford’s kinetic design form, and more than 10 million units have been sold worldwide since Focus was launched in 1998. Focus has a striking front end dominated by a wide-mouth grille and slanted inset headlights. A sleek profile and a dramatic rising beltline emphasize the athletic stance. The stylish exterior is matched by a modern, cockpit-style interior with a stylish center console. Bold graphics, a sculptured softtouch instrument panel and quality trim materials give the interior a premium look. Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels have been reduced and driving dynamics improved by the increased stiffness of the body structure, one with 30 percent greater rigidity than the previous Focus. Also, there’s a new windshield with a special acoustic layer that significantly reduces wind and road noise. The wind-

shield is complemented by increased side and rear glass thickness for extra quietness. Focus also offers SYNC with MyFord Touch, which replaces many of the usual buttons, knobs and gauges with LCD screens and five-way buttons. The screens can be personalized to display information relevant to each driver using a simple button click, voice command or touch screen tap. MyFord Touch is powered by a new generation of the company’s popular SYNC system, which includes a sophisticated voice control system for vehicle functions, connected Bluetooth devices, a Wi-Fi

hotspot, MP3 players and a variet external media. Focus offers a wide range of smart nologies, including active park assist Radio with iTunes Tagging, rear-view era, Intelligent Access with push-b start and Wi-Fi access. Starting price on the 2012 Ford Foc $17,295.

My Thanksgiving Thoughts BY RICHARD C. SCHULMAN City Historian

Too often we thoughtlessly think of Thanksgiving Day as a day of leisure. Do we not have much more to be thankful for than the Pilgrims who were looking for a New World and new freedom? They found it on our shores, and they gave thanks to God for their survival. Besides continually reaping our yearly gains, we have been reaping the fruits of the labor of the men and women of the past centuries. “You might ask, “What have they done?” Our land has been cleared and farms built up. Machinery has been invented and our land is beautiful and sanitary. An educational system has been established. Our land is full of universities and colleges where we learn and profit by the truths which others have fought out for us. We have freedom of religion. Think of the lives of the great religious leaders of the past. Can we not say that our heritage has indeed been a rich one? Most of us live a life far removed from real want. Few of us daily encounter muggers, miss a meal out of necessity or have the greedy and corrupt snatch our savings from us. Certainly, most of us can be thankful for the necessities of life… Health… Freedom… Time, to enjoy our loved ones on a fall day. Thanksgiving is our nation’s family day, possibly more so than any other day in the year. It is a day when we are reminded that “no man liveth unto himself” It matter not what our station in life may be; what our prosperity or adversity; this day emphasizes

our mutual independence and our responsibility one to another. Doubtless there are many people throughout the country today called cynics who, in their distress and privations, feel that a day of thanksgiving has no adequate place in their life. It is easy to be thankful where every condition favors us, where the necessities of life are abundantly supplied and health dwells at our fireside! To use the language of an American Poet: “Tis easy enough to be pleasant when life flows along like a song.” Thanksgiving Day affords our citizens the opportunity of making a mental audit of their assets and liabilities, both spiritual and material. This festival is America’s only religious feast. Its character is fundamentally social, fraternal, and inspirational. The memory of it, when it has passed, should help the Nation look forward to even a happier Thanksgiving next year. Thanksgiving Day is not merely a time for an extra dinner, neither is it a time to do all the thanking for the 365 days of the year. It is the day to remind us to say, “thank you” a little more often to God and to men. In 1864, in the midst of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln asked the people of the United States to meet in their places of worship and give thanks to almighty God for the blessing they enjoyed. This proclamation marked the beginning of the Nations annual observance of Thanksgiving Day. Since Lincoln’s assassination, each President was induced to issue proclamations calling upon the people to observe the last Thursday in November as a special day for giving thanks, and Thanksgiving Day is now a national holiday. In the aftermath of a tropical storm or hurricane Returning from an evacuation Your safety should always be the number one priority. Before you return to your home to check on your belongings and pets, you should wait until emergency management gives you permission to do so. • To re enter the city you may be required to show your RESIDENT ID card, driver’s license, other photo ID or a utility bill that has your name and address. • If your home has structural damage, don’t enter until it has been checked by officials. • Open windows and doors to ventilate and dry your home. • Beware of snakes, insects and animals driven to higher ground by flood water. • Before drinking water, check to make

sure it is safe for you and your family. • Power outages can endanger your food supply. Dispose of any food that has been at room temperature for two hours or more, and any food that has an unusual odor, color or texture. • Danger from power lines: Do not touch fallen or low-hanging wires. A wire that seems harmless may be crossed with a live wire. Stay away from wires in contact with puddles. Do not pile debris on or near power line equipment, poles, transformers, or down wire.

After any emergency event, any questions regarding your safety should be directed to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. 305-947-4440.
