BY ALYCE HANSON Administrative Services Director Hurricane season starts June 1. Will you be ready? To help you prepare for hurricane season, we are publishing 12 Weekly Shopping Lists. Pick up a few items every time you shop and before you know it, you will be prepared! WEEKLY SHOPPING LIST 1 AND 2 OF 12 WEEK 1- MARCH 8 Grocery Store • 1 gallon of water per person (and each pet) • 1 jar of peanut butter • 1 can meat • hand-operated can opener • instant coffee, tea, powdered drink mix
• matches (wooden ones are best) Hardware Store • flashlights • hammers • assorted nails • wood screws WEEKLY SHOPPING LIST 2 OF 12 WEEK 2 - MARCH 15 Grocery Store • 1 gallon of water per person • 1 box heavy-duty garbage bags • 1 can fruit • personal products • video tape • pet food, diapers, and/ or baby food, if needed Hardware Store • smoke detector with battery • heavy work gloves • extra flashlight batteries • duct tape
On Thursday, February 12th, the City of Sunny Isles Beach partnered with the F I U Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) to present a tour of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami Beach hosted by author and OLLI Historian-in-Residence Prof. Seth H. Bramson. Shown with the tour group are (front row at far left) Sunny Isles Beach historian Richard C. Schulman and Mayor Norman Edelcup (second from left) along with Commissioner Roz Brezin (second from right). The full day tour made several stops to visit historic sites in Sunny Isles Beach and then went on to Miami Beach with a luncheon served at the Miami Beach Golf Club.
