ision, style and desire shared the spotlight when mckafka Development Group, now launching The Crimson: Residences on Biscayne Bay, “Miami’s hottest new waterfront condominiums,” hosted an Aventura Marketing Council Chairman’s Roundtable luncheon. The event featured a “construction boom” update presented by Peter Zalewski, founder of Condo Vultures - the market intelligence company providing assistance in evaluating the state of residential and real estate markets in the tri-county South Florida region. AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman helped welcome business and community leaders gathered at Christine Lee’s at Gulfstream Park along with mckafka partners Stephan Gietl and Fernando Levy Hara, who serves as AMC Vice Chair; architect Stephane L'Écuyer of IDEA, (International Design, Engineering and Architecture); and team members from Baker/ CVR Real Estate, helping to fulfill The Crimson promise to“Ignite Your Life!” Hara and Gietl explained that in 2009, they co-founded Aventura-based mckafka Development Group, and in less than two

He went on to point out that condo development is also being driven by former homeowners seeking to downsize and rent from both foreign and domestic investors. Reiterating really good news about South Florida real estate, Hara and Gietl left AMC members with winning mckafka words of wisdom: “We’re very optimistic about the future. This is still the land of opportunity and the strongest economy in the world!” The Crimson sales center is located at 1444 Biscayne Boulevard. State-of-the-Art Hair Transplant Procedure Now in Aventura “Neograft at NeoGenesis Hair Institute is absolutely the easiest and most effective hair replacement procedure available; I’m ecstatic with my results and will recommend this to everyone who needs hair replacement.” NeoGenesis Hair Institute in Aventura is now offering a three tiered system for hair replacement therapy which includes the NeoGraft hair replacement system as well as photo-regeneration and nutrient supplementation for maximum results. NeoGraft is a relatively new automated device which facilitates the extraction of hair follicles and assists in implanting them in the desired area. It is a minimally invasive procedure where individual hair follicular units are extracted from the back of the scalp via the NeoGraft machine. The grafts are then placed into the recipient site with very little manipulation to those grafts. Unlike the traditional strip method, which requires a block of hair bearing scalp to be cut out and then sliced down into individual follicular units, our grafts are essentially perfect the way they are. This is a minimally invasive hair transplant method which requires very little downtime, minimal discomfort, and no stitches or linear scar. Scientific data support up to 95% survival of hair follicles—among the highest in the industry! The latest techniques in hairline design is incorporated by Board Certified physicians to ensure your transplant will look as natural as possible. Photo-regeneration of the scalp tissue facilitates hair growth of the newly transplanted follicles in two main ways using a red wavelength light and green wavelength light. Studies show that the red wavelength light combats oxygen deficiency—one of the main culprits of hair loss. The red light is effective for hair regrowth because it stimulates energy production of the follicle. The green light increases oxygen availability to the folli-

cles by breaking down harmful chemical byproducts that can ultimately cause loss or death of a follicle. The combined effect of these two lights has been shown to improve hair density and decreases the amount of hair shedding or loss. The final tier of the treatment involves the Viviscal Professional Hair Growth System, a scientifically formulated system of hair products and supplements. The Shampoo and Leave-in Conditioner are scientifically designed for those concerned with thinning, fragile and delicate hair. These products moisturize hair leaving it fuller and healthier by infusing the hair with essential vitamins and marine nutrients. The Viviscal Professional Supplements compliment the hair products by nourishing the thinning hair and promoting existing hair growth from within. These supplements are 100% drug free, contain Active Ingredients, and provide essential nutrients needed to nourish thinning hair, promote hair growth, increase hair density and diameter, and help the body metabolize nutrients which are building blocks of protein, an essential nutrient for growth of healthy hair. This is a dietary supplement specifically formulated with marine complex. In the hands of an artistic and knowledgeable, board certified, two-physician team Medical Directors Andrew P. Amunategui, MD and Marc G. Apple, MD of NeoGenesis Hair Institute of Aventura, using their revolutionary “triple combination” approach, provide a unique and unsurpassed state-of-the-art solution to hair loss in men and women now available locally in Aventura. These suggestions can change and improve your interpersonal relationships. You would be surprised if you knew how many people bring a bad attitude and negative mind-set with them wherever they go and whenever they interact with others. Try to avoid feeling threatened by the suggestions. Try to avoid the mental trap, “I am who I am, take it or leave it.” That circular thought pattern leads nowhere. It is self-protective and self-destructive. It is based on your fear of change and growth. It is a form of delusional thinking that you are perfect just as you are and you do not have to make an effort to accommodate others. Don’t go if you don’t smile. Don’t go if you don’t talk. ‘Forever yours, Eleanor’

Bob Diamond HISTORICALLY YOURS The story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena “Hick” Hickok was kept secret until their correspondence was made public in 1975, according to Historian Doris Kerns Goodwin. Since then, historians have pondered whether they engaged in a lesbian relationship. Hick, a lesbian, was 200 pounds, 5’ 10” and a national reporter for the Associated Press. As a child, she was the victim of an abusive father. Eleanor, after her parent’s early death, was raised by aunts who called her “the ugly duckling.” Her life was shattered in 1918, when, after having five children, she found love letters to Franklin from her secretary Lucy Mercer. Franklin promised to give up Lucy (which he never did) while Eleanor struggled to find happiness. Eleanor was filled with insecurities in 1933 on becoming First Lady. Hick guided Eleanor’s path to press conferences, as well as her own syndicated column, “My Day.” Hick fell

madly in love with Eleanor. With the pain from her husband’s affair, Eleanor found an answering chord in Hick, stating, “Every woman wants to be first to someone in her life.” Typical of their correspondence was a letter Eleanor wrote, “Hick darling, I want to lie down with you, put my arms around you, and hold you close.” Hick responded “…the feeling of that spot just northeast of the corner of your mouth against my lips.” Hick moved into the White House to be closer to Eleanor. With the passage of years, however, the ardor of their relationship slowly diminished. Hick hung on, if only to spend a few minutes a day with Eleanor. Their letters certainly possessed a sensual explicitness; however, Hick’s biographer Doris Faber argues that women in that era routinely used sensual rhetoric with close female friends, opening their hearts more freely than men. There is no question, however, that Hick’s love came along at a critical time in Eleanor’s life. Goodwin states, “It provided the mix of tenderness, loyalty and confidence that sustained Eleanor’s struggle to redefine herself.” She later wrote to Hick, “You’ve made of me so much more of a person just to be worthy of you.”

Florida Hospitals Win Big in Supreme Court BY RUSSEL LAZEGA, Attorney and Author

Last week while most of us were enjoying 4th of July fireworks, Florida hospitals had their own cause to celebrate. After seeing insurance reimbursements slashed by over 25% for auto accident trauma cases, hospitals and emergency providers got a bit of good news from the Florida Supreme Court. In a much- anticipated decision, the court ruled that P.I.P. insurers seeking to pay less than the “reasonable charge” for hospital and outpatient care must inform their policyholders through their contracts that these reductions would be applied. What does this mean for hospitals and health care providers? In short, since January 1 of 2008 on nearly every claim , many of Florida's major auto insurers had slashed reimbursement to hospitals by 25% and cut

payments even more for outpatient care providers. Here’s the rub: In most of these cases the insurers sold their customers a policy promising to pay more - or at least to pay the reasonable charge. Last week’s decision now means that hospitals and other outpatient care providers may be able to go back as far as 5 years and seek repayment of these insurance underpayments to the tune of tens (possibly hundreds) of millions in underpayments if the health care provider can show that the charge amount was reasonable. For Florida's health care practitioners, particularly hospitals who have seen some of the most widespread payment cuts, the news is truly cause to celebrate. Russel Lazega is an attorney who represents over 30 hospitals as well as consumers and policy holders in payment disputes with insurance companies. He is also the author of several of Florida’s leading legal textbooks on insurance law. He can be reached at Russ@lazegalaw.com.

Hyundai Santa Fe is bigger and has more power Ron Beasley AUTOMOTIVE EDITOR

LET’S TALK CARS If you liked the new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, but felt that it was just a little too small for your family needs, then take another look. The new long wheelbase (LWB) Santa Fe with three rows of seating and room for seven is now available and it is a honey of an SUV. The Santa Fe Sport went on sale last year with a bold design, high-output powertrains with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and a host of features to please consumers who wanted functionality, versatility and comfort. The latest third-generation Santa Fe (LWB) raises the bar even higher, with impressive performance, attractive styling, a high-quality interior and a laundry list of standard features. Hyundai engineers designed the Santa Fe Sport and the larger three-row Santa Fe together, with the side window shape of the larger vehicle differentiating the two, denoting the increased passenger and cargo

room behind the third-row seat. The Santa Fe also got its own body side character lines from the B-pillar back, a unique grille design, 18-inch Euroflange alloy wheels, chrome-tipped dual exhaust and a flushmounted tow hitch design. The smaller Santa Fe Sport is offered in Base and 2.0T trims. Standard features on the Base include 17-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, air-conditioning, a tiltand-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth, Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system and a six-speaker audio system. The 2.0T adds a turbocharged engine, 19-inch wheels, keyless ignition/entry, heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat. The larger Santa Fe (LWB) model is offered in GLS and Limited trims. The GLS has much the same base equipment as the Base Sport, but gets more power with a V-6 engine. It also gains 18-inch wheels and sliding second- and third-row seats for ease of access. The Limited model replaces the secondrow bench seat with captain’s chairs, reducing the seating capacity to six; includes the Sport 2.0T features and adds a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated second-row seats and a power passenger seat. Additional major options for the bigger Santa Fe

include a navigation system, panoramic sunroof and a premium sound system. For power, the Santa Fe Sport comes with either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (190 hp and 181 pound-feet of torque) or (in the 2.0T) a more powerful, turbocharged 2.0liter four (264 hp and 269 pound-feet). The larger Santa Fe has a 3.3-liter V-6 (290 hp and 252 pound-feet) and can tow as much as 5,000 pounds. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across the line and

all Santa Fe models have front-wheel drive as standard; all-wheel drive is optional. Pricing on the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and Santa Fe models ranges from $24,700 to $34,850. The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly announces the return of the smash hit, Slava’s Snowshow. The show originally created by the Russia-born Slava Polunin, which opens July 31, returns for a limited engagement at the Ziff Ballet Opera House through August 20. Slava has dedicated his life since to re-claiming and reestablishing the art and craft of the true clown. After founding his own theater company “Litsedei” in 1979, Slava has taken clowning out of the circus and into the streets, and from there to the major theaters around the world. He acts as President of the Academy of Fools, which he founded, and which has created more than 30 productions including the first Russian Mime-Parade (pantomime) theatre festival (1982); the first international Mime and Clowns Festival in Russia (1985) and Licei, the first Russian street festival. Produced by David J. Foster and Ross Mollision, Slava’s Snowshow now returns to Miami following sold-out engagements in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Barcelona, Madrid, London, New York and a record-breaking run at the Arsht Center five years ago. “This year, the international phenomenon Slava’s Snowshow promises to bring back memories for the 30,000 who loved it in

2008 and make new memories for all who will enjoy this spectacle for the first time this summer,” said Arsht Center President and CEO John Richard. Often described as a cross between Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group, Slava’s Snowshow is an awe-inducing theatrical experience and a profoundly moving spectacle full of wondrous images, delightful comedy, haunting music and snow—lots and lots of snow. Created by Slava, the original Cirque clown genius, Slava’s Snowshow has “stage effects that are dazzling” (Daily Mail) and a “finale that blows you away!” (Mail on Sunday). For more information, call the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at (305) 949-6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org. Tickets to Slava’s Snowshow are on sale now for $25, $55 and $75.

Warren Henry Jaguar launches all-new 2014 Jaguar F-Type

Larry Zinn, General Manager of Warren Henry Infiniti, Jaguar and Volvo, and Warren Henry Zinn, President and CEO of Warren Henry Auto Group

Warren Henry Jaguar, a division of Warren Henry Auto Group, is pleased to announce the launch of the all-new 2014 Jaguar F-Type. With a starting price of $69,000 for the F-Type, $81,000 for the F-Type S, and $92,000 for the F-Type V8 S, this all-new convertible sports car is sure to fuel your desire. The purity and elegance of the exterior design gives the F-Type a lasting beauty. The established Jaguar design themes have been evolved – most notably the JBlade headlights and the shape of the four-sided grille. Two bold strokes, called ‘heartlines,’ define the signature look of the F-Type, and were the first strokes penned by the designers to define the shape of the vehicle. A pure two-seat sports car, the driver-focused, asymmetric dual cockpit features simple, clear and analog instruments. Every F-Type model comes standard with a small diameter, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel. Multi-function controls for the audio system and cruise control. Standard on the F-Type is ambient lighting in the signature Jaguar phosphor blue. The dual-function climate control dials feature LED displays for temperature. The

F-Type features active center air vents that are activated automatically by algorithms within the climate control system and only rise when needed for extra airflow, retracting when not in use. All models come standard with the sport style seat with additional options available. A light, strong aluminum body structure with a wide track and high torsional rigidity creates the ideal platform for a sports car. All models incorporate a host of dynamic safety systems designed to improve stability and driver control including emergency brake assist, electronic Brake-force Distribution, anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control (through engine and brake intervention), dynamic stability control, and cornering brake control. In-car entertainment features include a full-color touch-screen, Meridian™ auto system, and Bluetooth technology. Reservations for the 2014 Jaguar F-Type are being taken now at Warren Henry Jaguar located at 20800 NW 2nd Ave. (Hwy 441) in Miami. Lorenzo-Bomnin Chevrolet rolls out New Showroom, facility and car line By Jesse Scheckner Drive by Lorenzo-Bomnin Chevrolet, located at 8455 S. Dixie Hwy. and one thing is immediately evident: drastic improvements are being made. Although construction for the dealership is still roughly two months away from completion, the two-time GM Mark of Excellence award-winning business, led by partners Lorenzo Llerena and Arnaldo Bomnin, already looks better than ever. The new facility is 34,000 sq. feet in its entirety, with a 4,300 sq. foot showroom and a massive 15,400 sq. foot air conditioningready garage stocked with high end, state of the art equipment. The new main building houses 28 personnel offices, a general office, and has a repositioned storefront that places the showroom in direct view of US1complete with all of the latest Chevrolet- approved designs. It is the most up to date Chevrolet facility in South Florida and the only one being rebuilt from scratch. “The visibility of the design is great, and we now have a lot more exposure from US1 into the showroom,” says Llerena. It’s great for Chevrolet, for the area and for us as deal-

ers. I think it’s a win-win for everybody.” Originally built as a gas station during the 1940’s, the property was later repurposed as a car dealership. Its small size made it impossible to provide many modest amenities, however. Among the things Llerena and Bomnin are most excited about is the opportunity to reward their customers’ loyalty with a much more accommodating setting that includes a new customer lounge outfitted with a large flat screen television and a dedicated internet room equipped with free wi-fi. Customers bringing in their vehicles for service are provided with free carwashes and there is a point-accumulation reward system for repeat visitors. “We’re very excited that we are able to offer customers much better conditions now,” he says. “They were very loyal to us in the old facility and we’re thrilled to offer them a much improved environment.” All of this remodeling coincides with the largest product revamp in General Motors’ history, with almost 70 percent of their 2014 vehicles being gorgeously redesigned including the Silverado, Colorado, Tahoe, Suburban, Malibu, Impala and the Corvette, of

which they are the number one dealer in the entire southeast region of the United States, year to date. The new rollout also will include the debut of the Chevy SS (Sports Sedan), which boasts a sedan exterior with a Corvette engine. Both Llerena and Bomnin are first generation (l-r) Lorenzo Llerena and Arnaldo Bomnin proudly stand in Cuban immigrants their beautiful new showroom who came to the U.S. during the 1990’s with no family or money.
