POLICY STATEMENT

• Think safety first! If you find a piece of broken park equipment, please call the Business Office so that we can correct any unsafe conditions. • When visiting a park, please use common courtesy for the other participants and neighbors. • No loitering, profanity or gang activity of any kind is tolerated. • No glass, alcohol, fireworks, golfing or littering allowed. • Pets must be on a leash at all times and are not permitted in playgrounds, food areas, walking tracks or ball fields. Please clean up after your pet. • Driving unauthorized motorized vehicles in parks is prohibited. • Parks close at dusk, except for scheduled evening activities. All city, state and federal laws will be enforced. Persons causing damage will be prosecuted and made responsible for restitution. • Failure to obey park rules could result in suspension from park property and programs.

It is the goal of the Calumet Memorial Park District to provide safe and enjoyable recreational activities for all, regardless of age, race, creed, marital status, physical/ mental limitations, orientation or gender. It is the intention of the district to develop, plan, implement and administer a comprehensive loss prevention program. Public and staff safety is our greatest responsibility, and in our assignments the health and safety of all are of the utmost concern. This policy has been established to emphasize that effective loss prevention is an integral part of management procedures to fully utilize the district’s capital and personnel. Although profit is not a district goal per se, the same efficiency is desired to ensure maximum usage of each tax dollar.

VANDALISM

The district takes pride in the beauty and safety of our parks. However, each year our efforts are marred by vandalism, which takes its toll through higher costs of maintenance, repair and cleanup. Residents who observe vandalism are asked to report it immediately.

LIABILITY

The CMPD assumes no responsibility for personal injury or loss of personal property while participating or attending a district-sponsored program, event or facility. No medical or accidental insurance is provided.

3

No one will be discriminated against on the basis of a disability. Reasonable accommodations in recreation programs and leisure services will be made for persons who meet the essential requirements of that activity. If you have any questions or special concerns, please contact the Executive Director at 708-868-2530.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS

The CMPD may photograph or video people enjoying programs, events, parks and facilities. All photographic, video or digital images taken by district staff are property of the CMPD and may be used in publications, online or in advertising. Those wishing not to be photographed must notify the Executive Director in writing.

Following the election this April, Patrick O’Meara will retire as a member of the Board of Commissioners. Over the course of his twelve years as a commissioner, he has played an important role in such developments as the creation of the Family Fun Center, the establishment of Egan and Pulaski Parks, the redesign of Commissioners Park, and many other improvements in the Park District. Now, at the conclusion of his dozen years of steadfast service to our community, we wish him only the very best, and we’re certain that all who enjoy the amenities the CMPD offers join us in saying...

Thank you, Pat!
