GOLF TRAVEL TIPS Whether you’ve traveled to Temecula Valley to play our award-winning courses or you’re a golfer who just happens to be looking for a few rounds while you’re in town, how do you ensure you can find and play the course that’s right for you? Here are some quick tips for achieving the perfect par.

Give yourself time Arrive at your chosen course with extra time to orient yourself. Get there early enough to perhaps have breakfast or a light lunch at the course, browse the pro shop and clubhouse. Some courses have memorabilia that recall great moments on the course you can strive to re-create!

Map your itinerary Check the proximity of the courses to where you’re staying or where you’ll be

Get a feel for the green Rather than heading straight for the first hole, spend some time at the range and putting greens. Try to get a feel for the speed and contour of the green so you feel more at home when you tee off.

Reserve in advance Book a tee time so you’re sure to be able to play when and where you want to. If you’re thinking of a meal before or after your game, you might want to reserve a table in the restaurant in advance, too.

Take stock of the scorecard Study the scorecard before your first swing to get an idea of the course layout. The card provides several tips, including where water and other hazards lie.

A little mental preparation and a few practice putts go a long way toward making the challenge of an unfamiliar course a lot more enjoyable. And don’t forget to keep your scorecard (or great gift from the pro shop) as a memento of your trip!
