PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Michael Free

Welcome to the latest edition of the Club Rivers Magazine. It is a pleasure to share this update with our members and community, reflecting on a busy and highly productive quarter for Club Rivers, one defined by solid financial performance, meaningful community investment, and a full calendar of wellattended events that brought people together.

Throughout the last few months, Club Rivers continued to demonstrate stability and positive growth. Membership numbers have also pleasingly continued to rise, supported by targeted renewal campaigns and strong participation in club events. Together, these results reinforce the strength of our financial position and our ability to sustainably support both our members and the broader community.

The past quarter featured a strong program of events that were enthusiastically supported by both members and visitors. Remembrance Day commemorations drew meaningful attendance and reinforced the club’s role as a place of reflection and respect. Christmas activities created a vibrant and festive atmosphere, driving strong visitation and member engagement throughout the season. Our regular trivia nights, live music, and weekly entertainment continued to enhance the social fabric of the club, providing opportunities for connection and enjoyment.

As we move into the autumn months, our focus remains on increasing member engagement through seasonal promotions and entertainment and most importantly fostering and strengthening our ongoing partnerships with local schools, sporting clubs, and community organisations through community grants and sponsorships.

In closing, I would like to sincerely thank our members, sta, volunteers, and Board for their continued support and dedication. The energy, commitment, and shared pride of everyone involved with Club Rivers ensure we remain a valued and trusted cornerstone of our local community.

The Autism Community Network Christmas Party supported by Club Rivers was a joyful and inclusive celebration, bringing together children, families, carers and volunteers for an afternoon filled with laughter, connection and festive cheer.

Designed to be a safe and welcoming environment, the event allowed families to relax and enjoy the season together, knowing their children could participate comfortably and confidently.

The event featured a range of activities tailored to suit sensory needs, along with entertainment, gifts and plenty of smiles. For many families, events like this provide more than just Christmas fun — they oer a sense of belonging and community, reducing social isolation and creating lasting memories.

The Autism Community Network continues to play a vital role in supporting local families, and the Christmas Party was a wonderful reflection of their commitment to inclusion, understanding and celebration for all.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Welcoming a New Year at Club Rivers

As we step into a new year, I want to take a moment tothank all our members and stakeholders for a tremendous 2025. Your continued support and connection to your Club every year brings fresh opportunities, and 2026 is already shaping up to be one of momentum, purpose, and progress.

Across our community, the dedication of our sta and volunteers continues to make a real dierence.

Whether it’s supporting local schools, sporting groups, veteran welfare, charities, or community initiatives, the consistent work reflects what Club Rivers stands for— connection, care, and community first. I am incredibly proud of the way our team represents the values of this club every day.

Behind the scenes, significant work continues on our long-term Master Plan from our Board and Executive team. This planning is about more than just physical infrastructure, it’s about creating a future-ready community destination that honours our legacy while ensuring Club Rivers remains sustainable, welcoming, and relevant for generations to come.

These projects take time, diligence, and careful consideration, and we appreciate your patience as we continue this important journey to really bring something special to Riverwood.

In saying this we will continue to deliver and enhance our current oering for our loyal patrons, you will begin to see some exciting improvements around the club.

We’ve recently installed our brand-new MiniDome Kids Play Area, creating a safe, fun, and engaging space for our youngest members and visiting families—because a great club experience should be shared across generations.

Also for those concerned about the quality of our aging big screen in the lounge, we’re replacing our 10-yearold LED screen with a state-of-the-art display that is bigger, clearer, and sharper than ever before. Whether it’s live sport or special events, this upgrade will significantly enhance the experience and is due for installation in early 2026.

As always, thank you for being part of Club Rivers. We look forward to sharing another year of connection, progress, and community with you.

Warm regards,

Horse Aid is an Australian for-purpose and not-forprofit registered charity that provides unique, one-day and five-day healing horsemanship programs for serving and ex-serving defence personnel and first responders who are suering from mental health challenges due to their work protecting our nation or serving our community.

Working in partnership, both heroes and horses rebuild trust, confidence and self-belief.

We’re here to help you find healing Horse Aid provides free-of-charge healing horsemanship programs to local community serving and ex-serving defence personnel and first responders —oering our ex-racehorses as partners in your healing journey.

You’ll be taught by highly-qualified and experienced instructors some who have served themselves, and have a deep understanding of the wounds borne by both heroes and the horses after their highly-trained and institutionalised first careers are over.

We don’t need to know why you’re joining us, unless you want to share—we’re just glad that you’re here. All our programs oer a safe, understanding and supportive environment where your needs are our number one priority.

Heal Heroes

Defence personnel and first responders are often left with physical and emotional wounds, and struggle to adjust to life inside or outside of service.

They deeply need support and empathy to overcome their mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety and PTSD, to rebuild self-esteem and confidence, and to see a brighter future either during or post-service.

Retrain ex-racehorses

We use thoroughbred ex-racehorses in our programs, and our participants learn horsemanship skills to participate in this careful retraining.

These horses often finish their career with mental health or behavioural challenges through no fault of their own. They need support and training to adjust to a new life after racing, so they can find fulfilling second careers as performance, recreational or therapy horses.
