WHAT’S ON | SPRING 2012 From the President Members and Guests Welcome to the Spring edition of the newly formed ‘What’s On’ magazine. Another extremely difficult financial year has come and gone and it appears 2012/13 may even be more difficult again. In light of this it is satisfying to advise that the Club’s financial performance has continued to improve with an unaudited Net Loss of $238,976 for the year ended 30th June, 2012. This represents an operating improvement of $250,235 on last year’s comparative Net Loss of $489,211. The Club’s financial position is considered sound with positive cashflows and accumulated cash reserves of $828,655. I refer you to the Club’s 2012 Annual Report which will be available by download from the club website www.clubforster.com.au from Friday 14th September, 2012 or collect a hard copy from the Club’s Administration. It is with great sadness that Bobby Rudd passed away on Monday 30th July, 2012. Bob’s involvement and contribution on the Board and as President of the Skipjacks Social Bowling Club will be sadly missed. On behalf of the Board, Management and staff I extend our sincere sympathies to Bob’s family. I would like to correct a statement I made in the last edition of the Communicator Magazine where I stated that the NSW Government has recently enacted legislation regarding mandatory training for Directors. This is incorrect as the NSW Government is currently working with the industry to ensure these important corporate governance changes are properly drafted before being proclaimed as law. However, it is expected that this will occur in coming months. If you’re planning to spend Christmas Day at Club Forster, please reference page 17 of this journal to view details of our very special Christmas Day Buffet Luncheon - this year being held in the very beautiful & stylish Wallis Lake Room. I strongly suggest that you book early, as we will only have limited tickets available for this very special event. In closing, I urge members to attend our 2012 AGM being held on Sunday 21st October where a new Board will be installed with refreshments and great entertainment to follow. I look forward to seeing you in and around our clubs soon. Allan Laird President

Reminder to parents with children visiting our clubs Both Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry are proud to be known as the Great Lakes Family Entertainment Centres extending open arms to all ages both young and old. We’d like to remind parents that we are also a licensed venue and children are not permitted in any area of the club unattended. Both clubs have areas that are clearly marked, allowing parents to sit with their children and enjoy our facilities. Please ensure that you hold your children’s hand whenever you are walking throughout the club, including those excitable times whenever a children’s activity or event is nearby. Remember that some of our older patrons are not as quick on their feet as they used to be, and little people can sometimes be unexpected trip hazards. Why not take advantage of our unique facility - the ANKLE BITER’S CLUB - open every Friday and Saturday from 6pm until 10pm and 7 days a week during school holidays. See reception for details and token fees. Thank you for your cooperation.
