SMILEY STICKY

You know when you have one of those days when everyone and everything in this world seems to be against you and you can’t wait for the day to just end. It was one of those days for me. My day had started with me getting burnt by my own coffee and then getting in late to work because I had a flat tire in the middle of the highway. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a big stack of rejections greeted me as soon I got in to work.

Really, the day couldn’t get worse. I sat there grumbling, venting out my frustration to whoever made the mistake of asking me how I was in the pleasant, customary manner that they do. I had a few meetings lined up for the day and I decided to not talk to anyone in the hope to avoid any more trouble. As the day neared its end and I headed back to my desk, ready to stay another two hours to make up for the missed time from the morning, I noticed a big KitKat on my desk with a sticky note asking me to smile and hoping that my day gets better. To this day, I don’t know who it was, or how they knew that KitKat was my favorite chocolate, but it genuinely made me feel so much better. Thank you, stranger at my office. Your random act of kindness left me with a big smile and helped me get through the day. - Jasmine Root, 26 Do you have stories of kindness that you would like to share?
