The UK’s night-time economy, encompassing pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and accommodation operating late into the night, and valued at £153.91 billion, is facing a significant growth slowdown. Rising costs and tax increases are threatening the sector’s recovery, according to the latest Night Time Economy Market Tracker Report by the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) and CGA by NIQ. While the industry has shown resilience since the pandemic, the report highlights mounting challenges that could jeopardise its future without urgent govern-
ment intervention. The report reveals that the nighttime landscape is changing, with many consumer traditional high-tempo and high-spend activities in decline. More than half of sector leaders have seen a year-on-year drop in trade from things like bar crawls (62%), hen and stag dos (54%) and student trade (56%).
