8. Palm Beach So named after the Phoenix palms at various points along the beach, it’s an intimate and highly popular north-facing bay, flanked by rocky headlands at either end. There are actually two beaches, Big Palm and Little Palm, though Little Palm is commonly known as “Nudie Beach”, as it is well known as a clothing optional location, and has gained quite a reputation,

and a fair bit of media exposure over the years. Big Palm is about 500 metres long, with three access points. At the eastern end is a small grass reserve with picnic tables, gas bbq, and toilets. There’s another in the centre with loos, cold showers and a children’s play area, and a further option to the west with no facilities. Little Palm can be reached by walking from the western end of the bay, though at high tide this

involves scrambling over the rocks. Alternatively there is a well marked, but steep pathway from Cory Road, with limited parking on the roadside. Services include a popular store and a fish and chip shop behind the beach. The headlands and island off its shoreline offer good fishing terrain close by.
