HMP Askham Grange. From these roots within the criminal justice system, we have grown to become an award-winning theatre company with a comprehensive education programme. Our work is founded on the principles of respect for one another, equality of opportunity, recognising and embracing diversity and access to theatre. Our courses are designed and delivered especially for women with an offending background and women at risk of offending because of their mental health, and/or drug or alcohol use. Whether or not you want to pursue a career in theatre, Clean Break is rich with opportunities to participate in theatre and to see a high quality professional company at work. We have courses for those who have no experience in the arts, those who want to develop their skills further or those who just want to try out something new in a safe and friendly environment. All the activities described in this prospectus, together with the support of our experienced women-only team and a fabulous building, makes studying at Clean Break a very special opportunity. And all our courses are absolutely free! On behalf of all of us at Clean Break we look forward to meeting you soon.

Students with mental health needs We offer students with mental health needs support to help you manage any difficulties that may get in the way of your learning. There is an eight week course which runs in the autumn and spring terms (see pg 9), followed by a peer support group in the summer term. If you prefer to discuss things individually, then you are always welcome to book an appointment with the Student Support Services, which has experience of supporting students with mental health needs.

Student Forum This Forum gives students an opportunity to take an active part in shaping a better education service. Students and staff meet once a term to discuss new ideas and feed into plans. International Woman by Sonya Hale I’m an international woman, Check me and my world, Ride the storms, Kiss the sunsets, Golden dawns uncurl. International woman. Laughter lines my road maps, Stretch marks my valley depths, Check my little mountain peaks, Well suckled sunsets.

We’re bangin’ out t’Bangladesh, Shakin’ Guatemala, Swingin’ on the North Pole, Vibrating Africa. Hips swivel divel up the Andes, Hearts beating up the Nile, Love laughs t’Tokyo, Russia winks a smile. International woman, me, Check me and my world.

My eyes have run rivers, Hearts bled volcanic, Still I forge forth glacial, Passions titanic.

Life-blood laced with rubies, Intestines made of pearls Feathers poised for takeoff, Dance waterfalls of birth.

International woman, me. Woman of the world. International woman, Steppin’ out with ma girls.

Kissing the light fantastic, Waltzing the moon, Flirting new horizon, Tick. Tick. Tick! BOOM!!!
