CLAUDIA FERRERO MIRALLES PORTFOLIO

Colored

paper, pencil, rubber and glue, were

essential tools to transform worn-down objects into new useful ones during my childhood. Preserving my toys, restyling them so I could play forever was my biggest wish. As I grew up, new concerns at a bigger scale approached to me. I started caring more about spaces, reconverting them. Every other day, I would rearrange my room’s furniture seeking the most funtional one. I am anxious to become a creator, restoration oriented. I wish to help people to live in appropriate and attractive homes. My intention is to learn to provide beauty and coziness to their lives. And I believe I can achieve that through hard work, great effort and devoting a sufficient amount of time

It was given to each student a 60 cm of thread and a group of fourniture. With this material a plan had to be created. From the text “Un mundo lleno de agujeros” de A.Zaera Polo, a concept and a modeling material had to be chosen, I chose TECHNIQUE and modeling FLAT WOOD. From the chosen conept and the material, you had to develop a module made of 1 piece form by 3 elements that fitted with the plan already created.

THE IDEA:

Florr plan

The consumer, starring in the context, is the motivating agent of the proposal. As the program is located in the plot given, intended to provide a timely service to the residents but also constant interaction with the environment. We propose a volume, which covers the square by combining the chosen material and its technique, transforming it into a space dominated by its dynamism. On the upper floor are located the dressing rooms together with the bar. In the lower floor, by spreading out the material, some seating areas are shaped along with an integrated health care room. The main volume when its open to the public, the same walls bend upwards forming different zones which generate different shadow areas for its users.

16

THE MATERIAL: Bended steel and steel U shaped profiles. It is proposed an area with different situations worked with the same material to revitalize the square. At the same time, some seating and playground areas are proposed for the local people and the children.

The statement of exercise consists on designing a wine tourism centre linked to the main activity of a wine cellar production and commercialization of high quality local wine in Alella, a small wine town 20 minutes from Barcelona.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

2nd floor E 1/400

It is proposed to maintain the pre-existence of the local area with a small change in the topography of the plot in order to suit the needs of the project. Its location is on a flat area in the centre of the plot that is not part of the grapevine vineyard. Number one objective of this project is the total integration of it and the proposal to harm the environment as little as possible. The proposal consists of two volumes, which are connected underground. The building has a total amount of 3 floors two half covered underground and another one fully built underground.

20

Most of the program is located on the upper floors with different multifunctional areas and wine tasting room, as well as, the store and administration. On the underground floor it is located the area of the loading dock, storage and wine fermentation tanks.

Residential Complex

Multy-Family Residential Complex The purpose of this exercise is, from an urban fragment located at one edge of the city, propose a residential complex and its insertion into the city urban landscape. It will have to create a multi-family building with its complementary uses and activities, which should consider the urban Block Island as a unit that knits a urban fragment in transformation. Instead of the rigid arrangement of uses from residential buildings, work and leisure, the project includes an offer of unique and radically different spaces that allow new relationships: live where you work, to extend the work to leisure and other possible combinations. The location of this residential complex is in the downtown center of Buenos Aires Capital. It is right infornt of Parque Lezama, a green urban lung with a 80.000m2 of green extension, where a lot of procreative festivals and weekend events take place.

Organization Scheme

3rd floor

2nd floor

The residential complex design has a total surface area of 21.000m2. The plot has a dominated inclination; this allowed us to create a set of plans at different level that will become into different open spaces generating the concept of Public Square. The multi-family building design has 7 floors. Three of these are parking floors along with an auditorium and a sport centre. The other floors have small stores and living and working areas. Due to its location the areas with living and working space are faced towards the big avenue (south). The residential apartments are faced towards the park and the inside square, which are formed due to the position of the volumes.

There have been studied different apartment typologies to satisfy the need of any kind of user. Single to multi-family apartments form this project, all of them with different needs. Due to the different levels existence the perception of the space varies depending on where you are standing.

The project shown has two apartments on each floor of 150m2, with four rooms and three bathrooms and a common open cooking and living space. At the same time there is a common backyard on the ground floor and a roof terrace. In construction terms, the facade is a double layer facade with air circulation to ensure a better living comfort. Both facades have sliding blinds for privacy and sun protection.

This project is fruit of a contest for the General Archive La Naci贸n, an Argentinian newspaper. The contest requisites consist on projecting a first proposal which contains one third of the total program, and the projection of a second phase with the entirety of the established program. The program file of the newspaper La Naci贸n is an opportunity to reflect on the container building and historical heritage of the nation, its signifier as urban piece and its relation to society in the future. The proposed design for the first stage appropriates the entire property with a building base on two levels and a header general public access and administration over four floors. The project extends to the edge of the block, materializing on a podium and setting urban courtyards system: memory, identity, institutions, and generally accessible playground. These gaps extracted from the volume, representing the three spaces reserved for future growth, and didactic and participatory will be followed by a series of showcases murarias proposals.
