6 WINNING FAMILY TRAVEL STRATEGIES Page 56

Feel so refreshed! I love the morning after a vacation ends. I know that sounds odd. Yes, I’m a little sorry that I have to look at the experiences in the rear-view mirror. But with recharged batteries, I feel ready for what’s next. Travel reinvigorates me. More importantly, here at Classic Journeys, we use our own travels as inspiration to refresh our itineraries and our approach to the places we visit. You’ll find two great examples in this issue. Just back from a scouting trip in Iceland, we’ve created an exciting and varied new Multisport vacation. Iceland has become a super-popular year round destination, and this trip gives you a new option in addition to our cultural and family programs for how to experience it. We’ve also completely re-crafted our Thailand trip for the coming season, adding in lots of new personal interaction with the Thai friends we’ve known for years. Looking for a different way to close out the year? Abandon Ryan Seacrest and the ball drop and live your best life on one of our year-end vacations. You’ll find a host of great ideas on page 14. If you’ve been toying with the idea of treating your family to a multigenerational getaway, check out page 56. You’ll find expert tips and strategies for how to make it happen. We’re full of fresh ideas for you, and we love to help you brainstorm and make plans. Just call our friendly guest services team at 833-242-3648.

Best Regards,

– EDWARD PIEGZA

HOTELS + CUISINE

Ah, the Creature Comforts FIVE-STAR INNS TO MICHELIN-STARRED RESTAURANTS, WE TREAT YOU TO THE VERY BEST. SUPERIOR HOSPITALITY

ABOVE-AND-BEYOND BENEFITS

When you shop for a trip, the easiest way to compare options is to look at hotels. At Classic Journeys, our accommodations include coveted properties that appear in “World’s Best” and “Top 10” rankings. In most cases, we obtain lower rates than bigger companies thanks to our long relationships with hoteliers. If there’s a fine hotel tucked into an authentic farmhouse, within view of the Taj Mahal or clinging to the cliffs in Santorini, we’ll find it. More often than not, you’ll spend two or more nights in a location for a chance to settle in.

Only Classic Journeys enhances your vacation with a selection of these special amenities you won’t find anywhere else.

UNFORGETTABLE MEALS Food is a foolproof way into the hearts, homes and history of the places you visit, and we prove it with every meal. If we start telling you about the Provençal dinner with endless courses ... the sweet taste of a just-caught trout in Montana ... the homemade spring rolls on our junk in Halong Bay ... we’ll never stop. All of your breakfasts and most dinners are included and many lunches, too. For picnics, we shop local markets and bakeries. We’ll also get you into village cafés and small restaurants that are favorites of our local guides who often know the cooks.

6 • CLASSIC JOURNEYS | TOLL FREE: 833-242-3648

Invisible Check-in – Your hotel check-ins are arranged in advance. You and your bags are whisked directly to your room. And of course, we tip the bellman for you. Wine on Us – In many regions, we uncork wonderful local wines at every dinner, compliments of Classic Journeys. Perfect Pairings Dinners – A special dinner prepared by one of our favorite chefs with a procession of wines tailored to each course. Privileged Access Events – One-of-a-kind access to remarkable people, places and activities arranged just for you. Imagine a private visit to Stonehenge, pizza making in a private home overlooking the see, or a jump to the front of the line to see Michelangelo’s David.

• OUARZAZATE, MOROCCO

Riad Ksar Ighnda At the edge of the Sahara in the shadow of the Atlas Mountains, caravans converged at Ouarzazate starting in the 11th century. Today, this traditional palace-style property (riad) is an oasis of its own. A grand inner courtyard, water burbles in pools and date palms cast shade. In classic Moroccan style, the rooms have intricately detailed ceilings, all the modern conveniences and dramatic views. In the surrounding village, you’ll come across local people going about their daily lives.

Skálakot Manor

A Seafood Lunch Redefines “Fresh”

Truffle Hunting

Seven generations of Icelanders have lived on this family farm, nestled at the intersection of sheep meadows and mountains. The white gables echo the nearby peaks. With just 14 rooms, this manor hotel is as cozy and luxurious as they come. After a day outdoors, nothing is so perfect as a hot-tub soak before a locavore dinner focused on specialties from Arctic char to homemade bread.

A day on our friend Steve’s catamaran includes a highlight that comes straight from the crystal-clear waters of the reef. As lunch time rolls, around he dives for lobsters and fish. Then his sister, aka the on-board chef, transforms his catch-of-the-minute into a lazy deck-top meal. How’s that for fresh … and fun?

Shaving truffles on everything from breakfast eggs to chocolate dessert is a habit you can absolutely get used to in Istria. But the best treat of all may be the chance to join a friend of ours as he takes his trained truffle hounds out to hunt down and dig up the delicacy. It’s fun to learn the tricks and history of the truffle trade … and it only makes your next plate of creamy pasta — extra truffles, please! — taste even better.

GUIDES

Our expert local guides take you inside the places they call home. On every Classic Journey, you’ll travel in the company of our exceptional local guides. Instantly, you’ll be on first-name basis. And because our trip leaders live where they work, don’t be surprised when everybody seems to know them — and welcomes you as the friend of a good friend. Your full-time guide will be the kind of person whose cousin is the llama-trekker. A plugged-in resource who knows the opening day of truffle season ... and a truffle-hunter who’ll let you tag along. A native who can navigate the maze of the medina in Fés with her eyes closed, because it’s where she and her family live.

With a personal entourage of experts, colleagues and logistical wizards, our guides make sure that you are always in the cultural mix and never at arm’s length from the best experiences a region has to offer. We happily empower them to personalize your trip on the fly, to leap at an unexpected opportunity like a once-a-year festival day or an off-the-cuff invitation into a private home. They are unflappable folk, as genuine and sunny as they are sincere. And really, can you think of a better description of a great traveling companion? Even after your trip is over, some of your happiest memories will be of the shared stories, unfiltered insights and good times that you shared with your new friend in Peru or Iceland or Croatia.

GUIDES

Welcome to my world Vesna

HOME TURF: MONTENEGRO PROFESSIONAL GUIDE FOR: 10 YEARS Asked for her favorite on-tour moment, Vesna says: “DDD – definitely difficult to decide! So I make it all happen. The market in Kotor. Meeting the monks in a monastery. Going to the studio of a mosaic artist who also cooks a homemade lunch for us!” Vesna was the best guide I have experienced in all my travels. She is exuberant, gracious, maintains control in a polite yet firm fashion, fun, accommodating of our needs and desires, a truly lovely person.” — Roz R., Westbrook, CT

Vibeke

HOME TURF: NORWAY PROFESSIONAL GUIDE FOR: 10 YEARS “Glacier walking looks like a big challenge. But helped by our excellent ice guides, I see that my guests have a sensation of mastering something very exciting. It does something good to everybody to be in nature like this.” She went above and above our expectations. Warm and friendly. Always addressed any concerns we had. She accommodated specific requests from the guests. Always pleasant. Exceptional guide.”

— Jonathan B., Fort Washington, PA

Alfredo

HOME TURF: GALÁPAGOS PROFESSIONAL GUIDE FOR: 25 YEARS "It’s a shock to most visitors how fearless the iguanas, penguins, giant tortoises, and sea lions are.” He’s the master at setting you up to go eye-to-eye with the islands’ coolest creatures. “And it’s almost always the human who blinks first!" Galápagos YOU MAY GO THE GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS FOR THE WILDLIFE, BUT THE ACTIVE LIFE IS WORTH THE TRIP, TOO! Even if you weren’t bumping into giant tortoises, sea lions or strutting flamingos at every turn, this would still be a fantastic multisport vacation. The landscapes are like nothing you’ve ever seen, and the climate is great. Too bad for most visitors that they tour the islands by cruise ship. Everybody can get stir-crazy in the limited space. That’s why Classic Journeys pioneered trips on the islands with stays in luxury boutique hotels where you’ll have plenty of elbow room, a seaside pool, and maybe some blue-footed boobies right out the back door. We have easy access to amazing lagoons for snorkeling and kayaking, great trails for hiking and mountain-biking, and white beaches for lounging. All activities and gear are included and arranged for you seamlessly. Want even more fun? Join us for a couple of days in the high Andes of Ecuador.

The End is Near Before 2018 slips away, seize the chance for a no-regrets vacation. What law says your suitcase has to go into cold storage as the New Year nears? Without a conscious thought, it’s easy to shift into autopilot and think: “I’ll fasten my seat belt, make the best of the holidays, and get back to living my best life … later.” To which we can only ask what are you waiting for? Yes, you could attend another countdown party on December 31. You can stay home and watch Ryan Seacrest. Or … you can walk through the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu or swim with the sea lions in the Galápagos or make gnocchi in a Tuscan farmhouse kitchen. Instead of wondering where the year went, let’s get purposeful. Why not figure out how to change your bucket list from unattainable to attainable and, in the process, how to end 2018 in high style. You can absolutely make it happen. Your friends at Classic Journeys have done all of the legwork to arrange soul-satisfying vacations on and around the year-end holidays. Those weeks are a stellar time to get away from it all. ‘Tis the season when schools shut down and many businesses shift into idle. And it’s one of the few times of the year when you can get the whole family together. So it’s especially easy to pull off a family vacation in this timeframe. A lot of our guests look at a year-end trip as the gift that keeps on giving — a fantastic investment that beats spending your good money on stuff that is often forgotten, even before you turn the page on the new year. So break the mold. Defy convention and do what makes you happiest. Indulge yourself in shortening your bucket list. Let the end of 2018 be the start of a personal travel tradition that will be good for your heart and mind.

TOP 10 REASONS TO TAKE A YEAR-END VACATION 10. My unused earned vacation time won’t carry over. 9. I'm tired of sitting at home on New Year’s Eve watching the Times Square ball drop in my pajamas. 8. It's summer in Peru and the Galápagos. 7.

I can almost have Tuscany to myself.

6. Get me out of here! 5. It will be warmer in Central America than it will be at home. 4. After a year like this, I deserve another vacation. 3. I want to kiss the fuss and clutter of the holiday season good-bye. 2. The people I want to travel with all have free time. 1.

I'd rather give experiences instead of stuff.

Where should I wind up 2018? To scout out the best year-end option for you, go to ClassicJourneys.com/dates and scroll to the December 2018 part of the calendar. You’ll see all of the destinations where we offer departures before, during and after the peak holiday season. Want your own date with your own crew? Go to ClassicJourneys.com/private to start planning your own bespoke trip of a lifetime at year-end … or anytime.

TRUE VOICES

OF THAILAND 26 • CLASSIC JOURNEYS | TOLL FREE: 833-242-3648

To get Thailand right, listen to the people. The young monk who sat with us in the shade of a sacred ficus tree at Wat Suan Dok had the softest, wisest smile. He spoke of joining the monastery and asked about our lives at home. He couldn’t have known it; but that conversation changed the way we saw Thailand … and how we share it with you on our deeply personal visit to the country. CLASSICJOURNEYS.COM • 27

Thailand’s vibrant public face boasts showy gold temples and Instagram-worthy beaches. You want to see it, and we’ll make sure you do. You’ll start, for instance, at an exclusive boutique beach resort hidden on a private cove in Phuket. But the real secret to Thailand is that if you shift your focus a few degrees to the right or left of the marquee attraction, real life is right there. So we boat out to islands in the Andaman Sea that are uninhabited except for the Moken, a tribe of sea nomads. They live on wooden boats and houses stilted over the waters. Even the children dive deep in the clear water to gather clams and sea cucumbers. In the Chiang Mai region, our local guide Oomi pulls strings with her friends at a small village school so that you get right into a classroom and meet the kids. Shy they’re not. Ask the universal question about what they want to be when they grow up, and you’ll get an interesting earful. Oomi is also your inside track to understanding and participating in the daily alms ceremony. Before dawn, Buddhist monks pad barefoot along the streets carrying alms bowls into which their neighbors place boiled rice. It’s an ancient ceremony, not a folkloric show, and you’re invited to participate in a way that the local people appreciate deeply. At Classic Journeys, we are devout believers in responsible, culturally sensitive travel — an approach that pays dividends for you in Thailand. Near Chiang Rai, we’ve established relationships with the Lahu and Akha hill tribes who invite our small groups to spend time in their villages. The villagers welcome us into their daily lives unlike the “authentic tribes people” who are on display and outnumbered by tourists in commercialized sites. Nearby, you’ll also have a chance to spend some time with the mahouts of Dara Camp. Committed to conservation of local elephants, the mahouts are the pachyderms’ companions. They’ll even invite you to join the elephants for a trek through the forest. All along the way, we make sure you get a taste of Thai culture in all its forms. You’ll have a chance to shop a local market and get a cooking instruction from a respected chef. You’ll zip up the Mekong River on a long-tailed speed boat, take in the awesome views from Mount Doi Tung, snorkel on sparkling waters at Pak-Kard Bay, shop in local crafts markets, and even take a Thai boxing class if you like! But in our hearts, it all comes back to the diverse people you meet. The unguarded insights you get into their lives will reveal Thailand to you in more ways than you ever expected.

atli & kommi's

adventure In Iceland, a year-round Multisport trip is an adrenaline high from beginning to end. Any time your traveling companions have Vikings and shark fishermen in their bloodlines, you know that interesting things are going to happen. We just returned from scouting a new Iceland Multisport trip with our friends Atli and Kommi, the local guides who win raves on our Family and Culture + Walking Trips. As one guest put it: “I want to be with them when the Zombie Apocalypse happens.” Kommi and Atli show you the sights like nobody else. But these two Icelanders are doers, not just observers. With them in the lead, you’ll get full immersion into Iceland instead of just driving the Golden Circle the way so many tourists do. Imagine yourself in the most remote setting from “Game of Thrones” or your favorite “Star Wars” planet. That starts to come close to Iceland. Volcanoes and glaciers have done crazy things. Wavy plains of cooled lava flows wear spongy carpets of electric green moss. Geysers shoot up and waterfalls arc down off cliffs. Those glaciers shed bergs like some cosmic ice dispenser. As for the Northern Lights, “wow” isn’t adequate. But just WOW.

Iceland If you crave a vacation with a variety of activities and experiences, Iceland is nirvana. Whenever Kommi or Atli would say, “Today, you can do this thing or that thing,” we’d say, “Why not both?” And so it will be when you join us on this Multisport adventure. Many times, you’re able to create your own adventure by choosing which activities appeal most to you. For example, one day they ask “flippers or boots?” If you reply “flippers”, you find yourself stepping into insulated wet suits to go “tectonic snorkeling.” At just one spot, a gap between two tectonic plates contains a skinny lake of crystal glacial water. In water that’s as clear as glass, you feel like you’re floating in thin air. If you want to skip the flippers and keep your hiking boots, you can join one of the guys for an awesome walk in Þingvellir National Park. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is bisected by a tectonic valley and is cinematic beyond belief. Untamed as it is, it was also the place where local Viking chieftains started meeting in the year 930 to form the world’s oldest parliament. The lion’s share of another day is spent on top of a glacier, starting with a hike to the glacier’s terminal face. Specialized guides join up with crampons, ice axes and other gear, and then you make your way to the top and across the ice field. You see impressive crevasses and even tuck into the coolest picnic ever. The next day, at the “snout” of another glacier, you climb into Zodiacs and chug in close to where icebergs are calved. This is also the place where you can explore ice caves carved by glacial melt. You can choose to ride shaggy, short-legged Icelandic horses on a black sand beach or walk along coastal footpaths to a nesting colony of Atlantic Puffins. You’ll walk to a waterfall to explore it from behind. (It’s nobody but you, looking out at Iceland through a roaring curtain of water.) And one of our favorite hotels is a manor house on a family farm where trails lead you through sheep meadows to Viking ruins. At the end of another day, the geothermal Blue Lagoon is the perfect spot for a long steamy float. There are other places where you can see fjords and walk on glaciers and visit sheep farms and clamber over frozen lava and eat sensational farm-to-table meals. But nowhere else can you do it all in such a compact geographic area and have so much fun. Your trusty research team did … and you will too!

SPAIN: SEVILLE, GRANADA & CÓRDOBA

BARCELONA & THE COSTA BRAVA

BARCELONA & THE COSTA BRAVA FOR FAMILIES

Moorish southern Spain is cinematic. First, suave Seville, Granada and the Alhambra with a local expert. Then, vast plains dotted with ruined fortresses, a luxury five-star hotel in the style of an Andalusian village, gnarled olive groves and spectacular country walks.

Our local guide says Catalonia is “like Tuscany, only better!” In Vic, the farmers’ markets, rustic country paths and farmhouse-parador are just right. The “better” part: a private seaside resort at Begur and walks along the warm Costa Brava.

From cool Barcelona, this active family vacation heads to the country and a four-star hilltop parador near waterfalls and extinct volcanoes. From a resort overlooking the Costa Brava, go sea kayaking, cave exploring, and walking amid Roman ruins.

Italy VISIT ITALY EVERY YEAR FOREVER, AND YOU’D NEVER HAVE TO REPEAT YOURSELF. Each region — sometimes it seems like each village — is its own utterly unique and totally irresistible destination. From the alpine breezes that cool the villas on Lake Como to sun-warmed Sicily, the culture, climate and terrain couldn’t be more different. For something more rustic and off-the-beaten path, head for Apulia in the heel of Italy’s boot. For the flip side of Italian sophistication, our Family trip to Venice, Florence and Rome is a wonderful introduction to the best of the best. Or hobnob with rural shepherds — and the yacht set — on a visit to Sardinia that also includes the nearby French island of Corsica. Your options also include our best-selling trips to Tuscany (pages 42-43) and the Amalfi Coast (pages 44-45).

Croatia

CROATIA IS THE COUNTRY WHERE WE WOULD LIVE IF WE COULD LIVE ANYWHERE. Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe Dalmatia’s Adriatic coastline or Istrian vineyards that Napa should envy. Think cinematic Dubrovnik (aka King’s Landing on “Game of Thrones”), Rovinj perched on the tip of a peninsula, and harbor-side Hvar. This is a country where you can do an artisanal olive-oil tasting lesson, take a country walk a million miles from anywhere, and rest up afterward at your 5-star hotel by the sea, all in the same day. The Croatians are warm hosts and — from vintners to truffle hunters — just about the most engaging people ever.

CROATIA’S ISTRIAN PENINSULA Istria is insanely authentic with its unspoiled countryside just east of Venice. France THE SEDUCTIVE POWER OF FRANCE IS IRRESISTIBLE. You can try to wave off the lunchtime splash of Bordeaux, but the glass always seems to find your lips. When a maman leans out her window on folded arms and cocks her head in that comehere-and-tell-me-who-you-are way, what can you say but, “Of course.” If a breeze heavy with lavender tugs at your senses, it’s almost impossible not to give in. Our Culture + Walking trips go happily with the French flow, whether we’re on a lazy low-tide walk at Mont Saint-Michel or catching the rays on the ramparts of a clifftop castle overlooking the Dordogne River. The cuisine is remarkable, the hotels are magnifique, and with your local guide you’ll slip easily into la vie française.

UK & Ireland IS THERE ANYPLACE ELSE THAT IS SO WONDERFULLY FAMILIAR BUT REFRESHINGLY UNEXPECTED AS IRELAND, SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND? We think not. Images of tiny thatched villages and emerald meadows dotted with sheep are practically part of our DNA. The landmarks from Edinburgh Castle to Stonehenge are nothing short of iconic. As you walk along a Cornish beach straight out of a Daphne du Maurier novel or slather a warm scone with clotted cream, it all feels so … natural. WINNING STRATEGIES

for THAT TRAVEL TOGETHER

Expert advice for planning your next multi-generation trip

From the mailbag. You wouldn’t believe how many emails we get every day from guests who want to plan a family trip of a lifetime. And the questions aren’t only about where to go. They want to know how family trips work, what to expect, even how to “sell” the idea of a multi-generational vacation to all the generations within their own families. Here’s some advice you can really use from the travel-expert parents at Classic Journeys.

Unpack everybody’s stress.

Mix it up to build experiences.

Adults don’t have a monopoly on stress. Over-scheduled kids race to keep up with their schedules, too. School, sports, and lessons from ballet to ACT prep … it all adds up. Everybody needs to re-charge, even if they don’t think it’s true. A night in a Berber encampment in Morocco’s Saharan Desert or sea kayaking off the coast of Alaska re-channels energy and breaks the rinse-and-repeat cycle of everyday life. Muscles relax, smiles widen, bonds grow.

Plenty of families enjoy yearly trips to the same beach or mountain cabin. Nothing wrong with that. Yet, at some point, the summer of ’19 can start to be interchangeable with ’17 and ’15. The remedy is to add in, say, a week in the Galápagos one year, or a trip to explore Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks. The variety spices up life, and the memories you make are more memorable when you step outside your traditional comfort zone.

56 • CLASSIC JOURNEYS | TOLL FREE: 833-242-3648

Upend everybody. There’s no better time than vacation to try on a new role. Car-pool mom can become zipline mom in Costa Rica. La-Z-Boy gramps can slip into a glaciermelt snorkeling suit in Iceland. The same shape-shifting happens with teens, too, as your tech geek cuts turf in Ireland or a soccer jock participates in a Buddhist alms ceremony in Laos. Family vacations like these are a free pass to try something new (and very possibly life-changing).

5 FAMILY FAVORITES FOR 2019 Peru & Machu Picchu | Pg. 16-17 | Island-based Galápagos | Pg. 12-13 | Morocco | Pg. 24-25 | Venice, Florence & Rome | Pg. 46 | Iceland | Pg. 34-37 |

Turn “heads down” into eyes wide open.

Don’t worry about bumps in the road.

Family travel is an even better idea than you think it is.

Apple just introduced an app to minimize time spent in the blue glow of a smartphone. Travel is an even better way to achieve that goal. While you’re paddling to a rainforest village in Panama or whale-watching in Nova Scotia, touchscreens go untouched. Even if your phone is also your camera, you’ll find that grabbing shots of baby sea lions in the Galápagos is a lot more engaging that checking out cat videos or the Museum of Ice Cream on Instagram. The time you all spend in the same moment is time nobody can take away from you.

Pulling off any vacation requires somebody to keep things on track. It just doesn’t have to be you. Planning a trip with Classic Journeys lets you turn the reins over to a team dedicated to you and your family. Sure, you know the itinerary in advance, but you get to let go once the trip gets going. Experienced, wellconnected and exceptionally fun local guides handle all the logistics. Your flock can skip the endless line to see Michelangelo’s David in Florence or juggle activities to take advantage of particularly fine weather for sailing on an America’s Cup yacht in New Zealand.

We hear all kinds of motives. “I want my grandchildren to understand the world better.” “A cool trip is the only way I can bribe everybody to spend a week together.” “I want us all to have fun with each other like we used to.” Wherever you’re coming from, going on a travel adventure together really does work to make sure the people you love best stay deeply connected. And being the person who makes it all happen is incredibly satisfying.

SOLO TRAVEL

Traveling Solo? You’re Not Alone.

WE LOVE TRAVELERS WHO HAVE THE SPIRIT AND INDEPENDENCE TO STRIKE OUT ON THEIR OWN. On average, about a third of guests on Classic Journeys are solo travelers. When you join us, you’ll have a singular travel experience in the congenial company of others who see the world just like you do. OUR SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS ARE THE LOWEST.

YOU’LL NEVER FEEL LIKE A FIFTH WHEEL.

Admit it. You’ve learned that you can’t get emotionally involved with a trip until you check out the single supplement. Well, here is the news you’ve been hoping for! To encourage solo travel, Classic Journeys has the lowest single supplements you’re likely to find anywhere. While some companies boost prices up to 50 percent for single travelers, we keep it to just 15 to 20 percent on average. We only pass along any extra costs that hotels charge us, instead of marking it up to make extra profit from you.

For starters, you already have a friend on the tour. Our local guides are with you full-time to watch out for everyone’s needs and interests. At the fine restaurants we select, you won’t find yourself at a table for one. And, as often as possible, we arrange accommodations that are “doubles for single use” so that you can have as much elbowroom as everyone else. If you like, we’ll invite another solo traveler on the tour to share accommodations with you. “I just feel really comfortable traveling solo with y’all, and I look forward to this trip every single year.” —Susan L. PRIVATE TRAVEL

Let Us Create a Private Trip JUST FOR YOU.

DO YOU HAVE A NARROW TRAVEL WINDOW THAT DOESN’T JIBE WITH PUBLISHED TOUR DATES? Is your wish list full of particular activities or special destinations you can’t find on any body’s itinerary? A Private Journey is just what you’re looking for. We will be happy to launch any Classic Journeys itinerary on any day you choose ... massage the activities to match your unique interests … or build in extra days and destinations, whether you’re a party of one or a group of 30 more. Pricing depends on your group size and whether you choose one of our Handcrafted Original itineraries or ask us to customize. Our starting point — the published base price of a Classic Journey — is lower than what many companies charge for their comparable tours. In some cases, we can even offer private vacations for less than you would pay for other companies’ standard tours.
